    Just learning FreeCad. I learned Solidworks before... If only they had called the Tool 'Reference Binder' instead of 'Shape' - I would of learned this tool MONTHS AGO!, ,, Arg!

    Exactly what I needed. Thank you. The new threaded hole function in freecad .20 does not offer i.e. M6x0.5, so I will have to do it this way. Now I just have to figure out the correct metric dimensions for the thread I need.

    Pitch is confusing me, what makes you say that .125 is your pitch, when pitch is just the distance between the two same points at one full rotation ?

      Machinery Handbook is a great place too. And it's something you don't need the internet for! I bought a pretty old one for 20 dollars or so. Most of that information doesn't change enough to matter for hobby use

    You lost me when you were using those archaic inches. Without explaining where all these "magic" numbers come from this video is not very useful.

    • @willstandley6847
      @willstandley6847 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A unit is a unit. An increment is an increment. I probably got the Hex Head & Nut Dimensions from www.wermac.org/bolts/dimensions_heavy-hex-nuts_asme-B18-2-2_used-with-stud-bolts-asme-B16-5.html or some other online reference. Thread dimensions probably came from United Thread Standard at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unified_Thread_Standard.

  • @jayg4424

    What was the point of hiding the head and doing the chamfer and threading again? Why not just skip to changing the position of the head on the x axis?

    • @willstandley6847
      @willstandley6847 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wanted to remove the chamfer from the hex head end of the shaft and the video shows how I chose to do it. I'm sure there are other ways to to this but I did it this way and it worked.

    • @LeAdri1du40
      @LeAdri1du40 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don't need to delete everything and start over, could have just double clicked on the chamfer to edit it, and deselect the face you don't want chamfered anymore.. Tada🎉
