    Any tips if I want to make an oval bangle rather than round? How much smaller would I cut the length?

    • @Cognac_Jewellery_School
      @Cognac_Jewellery_School 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      To make an oval bangle I would add the longer internal diameter to the smaller internal diameter and divide it by 2 - that will give you an average diameter. Then add the thickness of your metal to that number and multiply the total by Pi to give you the length you need to cut. I hope that makes sense. There’s an Essential guide to bangles, cuffs & bracelets linked in the description that has all of this sort of information if you’d like it 🙂

      Hello! Ah, yes - not the same thing at all! But what an excellent coin find and a lovely idea. I’d be happy to make a video to show how to do it. There are a few different ways to make a mount for a coin. Is your penny round or more freeform in shape?

    • @benmills949
      @benmills949 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Cognac_Jewellery_School round - but super thin, and sadly rather brittle. I had thought about encasing it in epoxy in a open bezel, and have even made a few tentative tries with more ordinary coins. They are just such lovely things. I’ll send you a photo or two.

      Thank you so much! It’s really a matter of style, but with transparent cabochons like these if they have a closed back, the light reflected through them off the polished silver will make them sparkle much more than if they had open backs with a finger underneath (and of course sparkliness is everything!)

    Great tips… I will put my bezel on a bezel mandrel or even a ring mandrel and stretch my bezel out with a non-moring type of hammer or a rawhide hammer or a rubber hammer. It works the same way. But remember if you’re using the bezel or ring, mandrel method. Make sure you flip the bezel over and do the same thing again, so your bezel will be equally rounded out , hugs 🤗 Michelle
