Loads of porch space for table and chairs, cooking etc. Large door at the front on the tent which can be raised on additional 180cm poles to create a small awning in front of the opening. Comes with two sleeping compartments. Approx 8.5kg, or just 7.5kg if (like me) you just use the main compartment.

    It's kind of a gamble if you can't try different helmets on. I had a lot of helmets in the past 30y some brands fit better than others. My recently bought new helmet, an ABUS Viantor (L 58/62), fits fortunately very well with my 58cm head as well with an add winter cap and I never had an ABUS helmet before.

    • @Petemight
      @Petemight 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I decided against the Mojito 3 and ended up with a Kask Valegro which is a really well ventilated helmet for hot weather riding, but not quite as sturdy for every day use. The Protone is another great helmet and the build, padding etc is more substantial than the Valegro. But it's more expensive than the Mojito 3.

  • @VlasTrunov
    @VlasTrunov 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is so comfortable, I can't believe I've always been underestimating the value of a helmet of this level! But would you say that it runs large? I have a feelilng (perhaps just because I had the cheapest no-MIPS) that this helmet makes me look like a mushroom. My head is 60cm, and I ran for a size L (56-62cm). There is quite enough adjustment to a smaller size and a bit less adjustment towards larger, which proves I've made correct measurements. The front edge looks way thicker of course as compared to a cheaper lid. Or is that a matter of habit, and I will get used to the look? Did you?

    • @we1rd92
      @we1rd92 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you get used to it after a year? I was wondering the same lol it looks huge. In the video it's the non-MIPS version so it fits more tight around the head. I feel like helmets look better on my mates but i have a huge head.

    • @VlasTrunov
      @VlasTrunov 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@we1rd92 Yes, I'm still using it as the only helmet. After a long-term test (2 years so far) I must admit that it does look bulky for my slim face, although I fall into the middle of the L size. One more thing which is inobvious: there is an offset between the face and the loopholes where straps are attached, i.e. putting glasses over the straps, as velominati rules suggest, makes it uncomfortable: one yawn, and the glasses are misplaced.

    • @we1rd92
      @we1rd92 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I've been looking at the same Tefal alternatives for the - in my opinion - overpriced "backpacking pans". The Tefal is, as you said, a solid, standard thickness and properly coated non-stick pan, but the handle can indeed be an inconvenience. Once the handle removed, what will you use to grab the pan, in order to keep it steady while stirring, to lift it up, etc.?

  • @mikedowning4603
    @mikedowning4603 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Pete - interesting option. Another one we've found to cater for the fact that's there's two of us who are both low carb eaters so no boil in the bag meals or rice pasta noodles etc which means frying largely is to use 2 lightweight ie thin non-stick cake baking tins. They're very light and cheap. Fit one inside the other and double as plates and if you bend the rim a bit you can use a std Trangia type gripper handle which we also use on out Optimus 1.2L pot that we make drinks in. Cheers Mike

    • @Petemight
      @Petemight 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an interesting and economical idea Mike! They're generally thin steel aren't they? How does one of those compare weight-wise to a Trianga fry pan?

    • @mikedowning4603
      @mikedowning4603 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Petemight - well our two are slightly different sizes so they nest one inside the other. The larger one is 135g, 18.5 cm diameter cooking surface and 23 cm overall diameter. The smaller one is 125g, 18.5 cm and 22cm. They're both 4 cm deep. According to the internet the Trangia FP is 295g so our set up is economic in terms of weight as well as cost. Our stove is the Trangia Triangle plus burner so 200ish grams plus a homemade windshield made of 3 beers cans which is about 30 grams. We did try a Speedster stove meths burner but it didn't have a long enough burn time to cook two meals plus a bit drink but it was very light is writing 20g.

    • @mikedowning4603
      @mikedowning4603 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pete - correction re the Trangia FP weight. I was looking at the weight of a fixed handle Trangia pan rather than a standard one. I weighed our 25 series aluminium one and it's 225g. We have a full 25 set inc kettle, cutting board and gas burner which we used to use for car and motorcycle camping but downsized to the Triangle when we started backpacking and reverted to meths because it's quieter, doesn't use fossil fuel and no gas canisters for landfill - I'm feeling very virtuous!😂

    • @Petemight
      @Petemight 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikedowning4603 That's brilliant! Two really sturdy, strong, cheap pan/plates for about the same weight as one flimsier, more expensive branded pan. Result! I must confess I am like the idea of avoiding the potential landfill of gas canisters. I assume they'll be recycled along with other steel cans, but avoiding them altogether is of course superior... I've always thought a meths burner would be too slow for me, but I haven't actually tried one since I was in my teens. I should pick one up and give it a go maybe?

    • @mikedowning4603
      @mikedowning4603 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Petemight good plan! They are slower than gas but potentially better in very low temperatures particularly if you keep the meths warm and add the Trangia winter kit or cheaper option I've seen is roll a small piece of loo roll into a wick and light that which warms the meths. The Triangle is a pretty good pot stand and windshield (up to a point) but I'm thinking of getting a Honey Stove from Backpackinglight.co.uk which are local to us. It's main use is a 6 sided wood stove but it takes meths and sold fuel but you can use it with just 4 sides to reduce weight if you're solo camping. Folds flat into pouch and comes in s/steelnot titanium.
