IL MITO DELLA CHIESA OSCURANTISTA
Il video vuole smentire la posizione, tutt'ora purtroppo molto diffusa, secondo cui la Chiesa cattolica sarebbe una realtà oscurantista, responsabile dell'arretratezza della società europea nel Medioevo.
Al contrario il Medioevo non è stato affatto una serie di "Secoli Bui" e la Chiesa ha contribuito in modo determinante allo sviluppo culturale, sociale, tecnologico e scientifico del mondo come noi lo conosciamo.

    I know Catholic doctrine holds that the human will has been so weakened by Original Sin that we are incapable of always doing what we know to be morally right. But what if human will was never intended to set out to do good on its own? What if its sole purpose was to yield to God's will from the very beginning? The Blessed Virgin, whose will was not diminished by Original Sin, never even attempted to do anything on her own: she merely acquiesced to God's will. Perhaps it is not so much that our will has been weakened but that it was never meant to do what we ask of it in our pride - much like it is WAY beyond any human being's capacities to swim across the Atlantic... All we can do, on our own steam, is imitate, in a grotesquely inadequate fashion, the goodness of God - as it turns out, 'You shall be like gods' without God ...doesn't work all that well. We go through the motions of being virtuous and hide from one another the pitifulness of our moral shortcomings. We associate with those who elect to focus their feable will power on the same things we do, fully expecting that they will gloss over our monstrous inadequacies in other fields of endeavor - as we do theirs. A society of hypocrites who look down on their fellow man... Perhaps all we need to do is open up our hearts to God... Perhaps therein lies the true dignity of Man: knowing that he is but an instrument of God, accepting it and allowing God to work His miracles of goodness through him...

      When we repent and decide to follow Jesus, He is our Atonement, "If we walk in the light as he is in the light we have fellowship one with another. And the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1) We can't atone for ourselves. That's why He had to die. Also, the Apostle Paul says, in 1 Cor 15: 51-52:- "Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump". So it is instantaneous. No purgatory. When we repent, put our faith in Jesus and follow Him we do not need to fear what happens after death. (see Hebrews 2:15) I hope this helps you, Pat, and that you have, or find, a good Christian church or fellowship. Best Wishes

    I’m just confused because God the Father never spoke about the Trinity, Jesus never taught his disciples saying: “Trinity”, and the holy apostles never gave us the word Trinity.

    • @jacopomorganti404
      @jacopomorganti404 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Galone! Your comment is very interesting indeed! Thank you for posting it. I try to answer to you, as best as I can (forgive me if my English is not very good: I’m not an English native speaker). It is true that the word “Trinity” does not appears in the Gospel nor in the Old Testament: it is in fact a “technical” term which has been introduced by Tertullian (155-230 A.D.). But even if the word “Trinity” is not present in the Gospel, the Trinity is, we could say, the “main character” of the Gospel, who is present from beginning to end. At the beginning of the Gospel of Luke, we read that Jesus, who is called “Son of God”, is conceived by the Virgin Mary thanks to the power of the Most High (God the Father) by the mean of the Holy Spirit: “And the angel in answer said to her, The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will come to rest on you, and so that which will come to birth will be named holy, Son of God.” (Luke 1:35) So in the divine conception of Mary we see the presence of the Trinity: the Son to be born, the Father and the Holy Spirit. And again, in the scene of the baptism, we see Jesus, called “Son”, who emerges from the waters of the Jordan river, we hear the voice of God the Father who speaks from the heavens and we see the Holy Spirit descending in the form of a dove: “Now it came about that when all the people had been given baptism, Jesus, having had baptism with them, was in prayer, when, the heaven being open, the Holy Spirit came down in the form of a dove, and a voice came from heaven, saying, You are my dearly loved Son, with whom I am well pleased. (Luke 3:21-22). Again, we see the Trinity in action. During the Last Supper Jesus announces that the Father is going to send the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus: again we see the Trinity in action: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will be your teacher in all things and will put you in mind of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:26). At the end of the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus says: “Go then, and make disciples of all the nations, giving them baptism in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” thus clearly announcing the three persons of the divine Trinity.” (Matthew 28:19). These are but few examples of the clear evidence of the Trinity in the Gospel. In fact, the Church never “invents”, but always develops his theology from the Scriptures and the apostle’s tradition. In the Gospel we also see that the Three persons of the Trinity are not three “completely separated” persons: they are not “three gods”, but at the same time, they are the same; they are “one” but “three”, in a way that is difficult to understand for us. Jesus confirms the Jewish monotheism: for instance, when he is asked about which one is the “chief rule in the law” (Mathew 22:36-38) he replies quoting the so called “shemà israèl” (the most important Hebrew prayer, from the Deuteronomy book) which is one of the purest expression of the monotheism in the Bible: “Give ear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord: And the Lord your God is to be loved with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” (Deuteronomy 6:4-5) Jesus also confirms the validity of the Old Testament: “Let there be no thought that I have come to put an end to the law or the prophets. I have not come for destruction, but to make complete.” (Mathew 5,17) “But heaven and earth will come to an end before the smallest letter of the law may be dropped out.” (Luke 16:17) So Jesus teaches that God is one. Jesus speaks very often about the Father as someone distinct from him, for instance he says: “the Father is greater than I” (John 14,28), but also he says: “I and my Father are one” (John 10,30) and also: “He who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). It is clear that the kind of relationship between Jesus and the Father is like no other relationship: it is something special and unique, that’s why, to describe it, the Church has adopted a special term: “the Trinity”; the relationship between the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit is, as the Church says, “a mystery”: it is a something that, being divine, exceeds the limited possibilities of our mind. In the Gospel the Holy Spirit is presented as someone distinct from the Father and from the Son, but He is God himself since he has divine powers and properties, as we see from the chapters 14 to 16 of the Gospel of John. So, as you see, the Trinity is present in the Gospel, but it is a mystery that the fathers of the church has tried to disclose. As for the Old Testament the Trinity is not explicitly announced yet: the Scriptures in fact reveals the true nature of God in a progressive manner, in a pedagogic way, like a father does with his child, teaching the easiest things when the child is young and the teaching the more difficult when the son is grown up (see Hebrew 1:1-2 or Galatians 4:3-5). But in the Old Testament too we can see the traces of the Trinity: God in fact is usually called in the Bible with the Hebrew word “’Elohim”, which we find immediately in Genesis 1:1: “At the first God (= Elohim) made the heaven and the earth”, but “Elohim” is a plural word, not a singular one! So the word to indicate God is a plural one, as if God is three persons in a single God. And when God decides to create the man, the Bible use the verb in the plural form: “And God said, let us make man in our image, like us” (Genesis 1:26). Of course, these are only tiny traces, but, as you can see, even the Hebrew author of the Genesis seems to have in his heart the idea of a God that is one indeed, but not “simply” one. To conclude: the Trinity is a mystery, which we can understand but not completely. As Fulton Sheen says: if you ask “what” is the Trinity, we answer: “the unique God”, but if you ask “who” is the Trinity, we answer: “three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit”. This is extremely important for us, because it means that, in the true essence of God, there is a bond of relationship and love between persons, and hence we too, even if we are only creatures, we can take part in this divine relationship of love, by mean of Jesus Christ. God bless you! J

      @@jacopomorganti404 Thank you for replying. Matthew 28:19, when the writer says in the "name of" that name is Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38) this is to say "I baptize you in the name of Jesus Christ" Elohim is plural but it is also a Title which God has many. For example, Adonai, Jehovah, Jehovah El Elyon, Jehovah Nissi, and Jehovah Jireh. If the trinity is a mystery then Jesus is a liar, John 14:26. Furthermore, If God is a Spirit (John 4:24) Father is God, Son is the vessel created by Elohim (Emmanuel) the Manifestation of God's name, and the Holy Spirit is the spirit of God (which is God John 4:24); I'm saying this to ask, do we really need a technical term for God? This is only friendly dialogue I'm not being rude or disrespectful, Thank you
