    Hello again. This is proving more difficult than it seems. Up to the cold stratification and seed germination everything went absolutely fine. When i planted the seeds, none grew. I did everything as the video suggested. The weird thing is that i couldn't even find the seeds when i looked for them after three weeks. Its like they rotted and disappeared. Can you shed some light?

    • @naturesmasterpiece2234
      @naturesmasterpiece2234 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there again, Sometimes by breaking the hard shell of the seeds, it damages the seed itself, so be sure to check and see if the seeds are viable or not. (For viability test, we need to drop seeds in water. If seeds sink, they are viable). you can also use another method, which I recommend it to you. The treatments included Seed Scarification and heating-cooling applications. first : scratch the hard shell of the seeds with sandpaper to increase the permeability of the seeds to water. Second : plant seeds in peaty soil at 75-80 degrees F for 45 days and then at 41 degrees F for 75-90 days. Try to plant them in pots with a diameter of 15 cm. Another thing I have to mention is hawthorn seeds have both Endogenous dormancy (inside the seed, related to the seed embryo), and Exogenous dormancy (outside the seed, related to the seed coat or other surrounding tissue). So if we get rid of hard seed coat to remove exogenous dormancy does not mean that we get rid of endogenous dormancy.{ That’s why we need to put seeds in refrigerator (cold stratification) }.To get rid of endogenous dormancy we need heating and cooling pretreatments. The easiest way to get rid of this kind of dormancy is to plant the seeds in the open air in early summer in the normal sterilized soil bed (like Peat soil). What I noticed is that you might have not given seeds more time to sprout after bringing them out of refrigerator (cold stratification process) be patient and let seeds grow more before sowing them in soil. If none of the methods mentioned above worked, there might be some other problems ( like : pests in the soil(Non-Sterile Soil), fungi, bacteria). Please keep in mind that, plant as many seeds as you can(in case some may not be viable).

      @naturesmasterpiece2234 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi,i'm glad that was helpful. Ofcourse you can plant it ouside without breaking physical dormancy but you should expect a lower percentage of your overall planting to germinate, at a slower rate. In cold weather, we need to water them as long as the soil is not frozen. Thanks for watching🌳

    Hello, I wanted to know how many weeks after planting did you get first signs of a tree and if you did anything else after planting them - did you keep soil constantly moist etc?

    • @naturesmasterpiece2234
      @naturesmasterpiece2234 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, sorry for the late response. Actually i saw the first signs of growth after 18 months. I don't know what type of soil you are using, but if you plant in peaty soil at 75-80 degrees F for 45 days and then at 41 degrees F for 75-90 days, you will most likely see positive results. For irrigation, I must say that it depends on the temperature of the environment, the amount of precipitation and also the season. In fact the time of year and precipitation impact how much garden watering is needed. Plants grow less quickly during the cooler months, so they don't require as much moisture.🌱

    How to do it from a cutting?

  • @xeniospan
    @xeniospan ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, I've been trying the method in the video. I have a few issues: Do the seeds have to be fresh? I kept mine for about four months in the fridge before i cracked them. I got zero germination. When i put them in the water fo two hours they formed a gel on them. Should this be washed off first before the tissue? And lastly, i got rot. Loads of rot. Anything i can do about that?

    • @naturesmasterpiece2234
      @naturesmasterpiece2234 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. Seeds must be cracked when they are fresh and you gotta let them be in water for 2 hours. Next step is to break the dormancy forcefully by letting the seeds be in colder temperatures, this step should not take more than three weeks. I believe what you did, caused seeds to lose its vigour. this is why they did not germinate at all. Expecting mucilage around seeds was not seen in my case. And about what you said about rotting : Please doublecheck your cold stratification condition.🌳

    Walnuts will have to be grafted onto a black walnut rootstock, which is a very hard-shell nut, in order to get a walnut tree that bears walnuts.

    • @naturesmasterpiece2234
      @naturesmasterpiece2234 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually you are right about grafting method, but it is not necessarily the only way to have good quality fruits(it is definitely faster way to get fruit). In California this process is used to produce optimal fruits for eating. Healthy rootstock from a native black walnut tree is fused with a shoot from a Persian(English) walnut tree. Anyway mine is Persian(English) walnut. This might not be suitable for California's soil.
