If you're after decreasing the latency between your mobile hotspot and tower, replacing the default paddle antennas with a good directional antenna should do. Spunking $1k on a modem sounds overkill for only a few ms increase with more powerful hardware...
I'm curious how to assess what steps will improve latency. A better modem is good for...xxx, better antennas are good for yyy, etc. I don't mind going overboard a bit.

I think Lonestar coming in is good news in the sense that we now have a dedicated and experienced company running lots of IoT devices where that's their sole business.

So I've not been paying attention for a couple years with what's happening on the Helium front and I'm trying to get back into it. I got a RAk V2 Goldspot Miner in early 2022, as well as an HNTENNA. Originally planned to mount it above my roofline, but at the time I couldn't find and antenna mount because of the COVID shortages. At least not one I thought would work. So instead I put it in the upstairs bedroom with the antenna that came with the miner itself. It is obvious that I missed the Helium surge with not optimizing my setup and I'm wondering if it's worth it to get it above the roof line, or should I convert the miner for different use possibly. I have to convince my wife again if it's going outside. Lol. If it's gonna be above the roof because yeah, well, she hates the idea. Nik, I'd appreciate your input on this and also I'm having difficulty finding the information that I once had on whether it should be hooked up with an ethernet cord to my internet or is connecting over WiFi fine? Thanks!
If you're not going to use the network for IoT devices it's probably not worth the effort/expense (or pissing off your wife) to mount it up high and outside. You're also probably fine with connecting via WiFi, although that's not what I do; I prefer the stable connecting via an Ethernet cord.
You guys all do the same thing. You put one end of a cable on and say now you have an internet cable. So is it brown on the right for both ends or is it reversed on the other end?
Should look the same, not reversed, on both ends.

@@dksayt no worries. Let me know if you don't get it. If you're building more than a few cables it's worth it to buy one of cable testers, they're called "RJ45 Network Cable Testers" on Amazon and run about $9.

Brother not sure if you still around… I originally created/secured my HNT “black” wallet with my Ledger… Months went by….when I tried to access my HNT Wallet App with the Ledger….it would not connect/open So I thought it was “the migration”….i went to Helium site Ledger section and went through the procedure there usind the “Solana” and the “Solana-Helium” apps….all good Now: 1-) still cannot access/see my HNT with my ledger on the Helium “black” all 2-) i have no idea where my “HNT” is… Any ideas/suggestions?
I'm not sure; I never used a Ledger with Helium. You should still have your 12 or 24 words for the wallet though, right? With those you should be able to access your HNT. The 12 words didn't change from the original Helium chain over to Solana.

Hey @lmit I just watched the playback with volume at medium/low and the volume seems good. Daniel at Hotspotty comes in a little hotter than me, but not much. I'll dig into eCammLive a bit more and see if I can get it a little better. Thanks for letting me know!

Hey Nik, Are you or Max helping the Ambient team on their migration form Planetwatch (Algo) to Ambient (Sol)? I think I recall you not being so keen on Planetwatch but I've heard rumours that some of the Ambient team having Helium roots. Just curious. Thanks.

Hey Nick - nice to see you running localized AI. Have you maybe tried ChatRTX? It's Nvidia's GUI that allows you to run different AI models locally. It believe it works with the 3000 series and up.

Hello, I have this light, but i am not able to get it to work in conjunction with Meteo and Datacake for the downlinks. I get connection errors on the debug because I am not clear on the configuration between Meteo and Datacake, for example, what my URL would be using Meteo?
I can understand the antenna outside, but why all that stuff outside?

I also think that Hivemapper would benefit from that connection as well. They’ve recently started to have lots of GPS related issues.
sorry for bothering you, I have a question to ask you about Ator, I am in a group that says it is the official Ator on telegran, they ask that the token migration be done I decided to do it and I didn't have much luck connecting my wallet, the Ator tokens disappeared and also some of the Geod ones. My question is, do I really have to migrate the tokens or was I stupid and fell for a scam?

Correct. This was shot 11 months before your comment, when we initially transitioned from Helium L1 to Solana. It is out of date.
People love to complain, people think that by installing one miner they can retire! I need to teach lessons on managing expectations. It’s either Doers or wankers, each one need to decide which group they want to be in
Very bad experience for me with WeatherXM. I contacted them within a day of getting my miner. Never worked. Went back and forth with their troubleshooting. Nothing. I have Helium miners and they are fine, no issues. This refused to connect no matter how many times I rebooted my network and the miner. I asked for a refund and they said no. It's past 2 weeks. It's 10 days to be exact. They will keep my money and I am stuck with this defective piece of plastic.

Yep, you can usually find them at a big box like Best Buy or at one of your local electronic/network stores. We have one in San Diego called Willy's Electronics (WE Supply).
