These strong blue leds make this mixer very uncomfortable to use in a dim environment. Seriously, they are that bad. Feedback after owning this mixer for one week: PROS Great design Great construction Isolation on the channel EQS are great CONS Filter pops when triggered Blue leds are too strong and uncomfortable External power supply Sound quality is questionable Can't use the phono inputs as line (The Omnitronic 202 can do that, for years)

Either throughout the sendreturn or my putting it in between the output of the mixer and speaker depending on application, though be wary of the quad try the xz before making the choice, also there are omnitroc isolators available for Super cheap

Which mixer that you've tried comes closest to the old Bozak CMA?
There isn't anything that sounds like the old CMA, UREI, Rane 2016, etc. They all have their own characteristics and charm that honestly can't be heard unless you're on a big club system or have a very good Hifi system at home which 99% of people don't. So, in other words the vast majority of rotaries at home will sound good-excellent.

How is the sound from this mixer compared to others in this range? Also how do you record as there is no rec out
Besides the XLR outs for both master and booth the 1601 has RCA outs as well which I have used for recording to Sony minidisc. If you needed anything better than this you be recording off the house sound board for best results anyway, yes?
