1989 Porsche 911 Speedster Dry Ice Detail
This European 911 Speedster came to us with over 50,000 Kilometers as like many European cars, they get driven regularly and in every type of condition possible. The result is a beautiful car with a dirty bottom! Lucky for us we have the right equipment and the skills to bring back the original finishes on this most excellent Porsche.
1 of 161 Speedsters specified with the narrow body, this is a rare version of an uber collectible Porsche. While we don't get the pleasure of driving our clients cars on the road, just moving this one around the shop, we knew it was special. The engine has a more aggressive sound and race like character vs traditional G body 911's.
The car was perfectly protected with cosmoline, which means it was perfectly dirty to clean and perfect. From the original paint marks, to the light overspray on the under belly, this Speedster turned out amazing. Please enjoy watching the process with us!
And if you have a special Porsche, or something else, give us a call to discuss your project!
The Ultimate Dry Ice Cleaning
Thirty years ago, preserving or restoring a collector car required complete disassembly, prep of each part, and reassembly back to like new spec. The cars were simple, and the components primitive and plentiful.
Fast forward to today, the complexity and lack of replacement parts create an entirely new challenge. The 70's, 80's and 90's era cars collectors are chasing today utilize complex electromechanical systems that require a completely new approach. Plastic materials, delicate computer modules and special coatings from these eras will not survive the harsh chemicals and cleaning methods used in the past, not to mention the current desire to preserve these artifacts instead of taking them apart risking witness marks and/or damage in the process. How will we clean, preserve, and protect these collectibles?
Fortunately, preservation technology and innovation advanced to solve this problem. Dry Ice cleaning offers a way to clean complex automotive surfaces and parts, no disassembly required. A highly trained Dry Ice professional (Dryce®) will remove years of grime from the underbody, engine bay, jambs, external body trim, and interior without disturbing the original factory build or finishes. Often mistaken as a form of abrasive blasting, a properly equipped Dryce® system and trained operator will not harm the finish, gloss or factory build in the cleaning process. In fact, in many cases a Dryce® service can rejuvenate and restore the original look. Utilizing the best methods, along with proven systems and equipment, the Dryce® team will deliver an exceptional and previously unobtainable result.
Unlike traditional pressure washing or steam detailing, the Dryce® process is 100% waterless and dry. The Dryce® process will not introduce moisture into sensitive metal parts and/or electronic parts that may rust or corrode later. In many cases, vehicles produced within the last 20 years have labels warning that pressure washers cannot be used in the engine bays due to risk of damaging sensitive parts.

Where u located
Central Florida, but we’re not really taking on work at this point. If you are looking for a shop, go to www.drycenation.com.
can this be used on EV engine bays
Yes it should be fine as there is no water involved. One would need to ensure the machine is properly grounded to the car to ensure there is no static discharge.
Can't anyone post a video without the damn nigga music?
How do u adjust it if it comes too far out when closing it? Mine goes a bit over the tailgate and I have to climb on my tier to push it down so I can roll it back open
First I would make sure that its pushed all the way toward the cab. If it is, then it might just take some time to break in. It overlaps the top of the tailgate because there is a seal there. Also, they suggest leaving it out in the sun for the first week or so as sometimes they won’t retract without going through a few heat cycles.
@R20Motorsports Awesome I'll have to check that out much appreciated 😄
How much did this service cost the car owner? Id love to have it done!
996 GT2 / GT3 run about $3K for a full underbody cleaning. Every car is different and the different generations of Porsche can vary widely.
Thank you for posting this! I changed the oil on a new to me audi rs6. The oil plug is not typical (I have 2 other Audis). Instead it looks more like the fatter transmission plug (hex head). I took the plug off and lost the washer without noticing it. After finishing the oil change I found it. I had new oil in the engine and the oil plug in without a washer. I was freaking out and I googled it and your video popped out. I couldn’t believe it possible, but had no choice. It freaking worked . Using duct tape I hooked up the vacuum hose and turned the vacuum on. Took the plug off and put the washer on it then put it back on. I did put an oil pan under because this stuff is pretty unbelievable… the whole time I was saying: No way! No freaking way!
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching!
What is the miata market price in this condition in the United States? In Korea, 23,000 miles eunos miata came up to $27,000. Is it a reasonable price? (If same condition)
About $20K or so, but in the US, Miatas were very popular so we have many to choose from.
Keep it stock
My brother picked one up today for 5k with oem hard top
How many lb's of dry ice did u use on that Porshce for example?
A typical G Body 911 takes about 750 lbs of Dry ice, 1.5 blue bins
Why would you do this to a Porsche unless you’re the Girl Scouts
What color is your porsche?
@@powrfulnonsense I drive a beamer black on black and a Mercedes silver on grey interior…. not hating on the Porsche, it’s a beautiful automobile but the color is just a bit strawberry short cake if u ask me…. I mean, I guess it’s OK for teenage girls classic first car but I hope a man’s not driving this.
I think they meant for those control arms to be black. Lol
WTF lmao I haven’t even watched Adam’s video lol it looks amazing
You have some catching up to do!
Doing this now... When starting with the first tab... How far out should you be able to pull the grill? It feels like I get the clip, but the grill barely moves because of the other 300 clips.
Pull it till you hear / feel the clip release, then go one by one. Grill is pretty stiff.
Wow! Great job. Wondering how the temperature of the vaporized dry ice might affect gaskets, seals and the joints between the various metal parts and components.
Thanks David. This is a common question. While the dry ice is very cold and we do cool the part very rapidly, the cool / reheat process is very rapid, a matter of seconds and therefore does not impact the parts or change their characteristics. If you think about it, cars are designed to sit outside in very cold weather and therefore also have a good ability to deal with cold temperatures. Thanks for watching!
Can these be retrofited into an m2 and m2c?
Not sure, they look the same but you might want to check with IND for fitment.
Interesting process, you're strippong all the protective coating that has kept the vehicle rust free all these years. Are you going to re -coat it with something or now it turns into a rust bucket. Sold on the process of the removal though.
That decision is up to our client. In this case this vehicle will be part of a collection in a climate controlled garage and only driven occasionally so he wants it clean. We did treat some of the rusty areas on the springs and axles with a clear coating to stop any further degradation. If this were a daily use car we would obviously recommend a coating to protect it further.
Hi, really beautiful car! Literally the dream spec, is it yours ?
Thanks, it was. This video was for the Bring A Trailer listing. Sold it about a year ago. Great car.
You have a lot of patience!
Yep, about 20 hours cleaning this beauty! Thanks for watching!

Total Flashback to the 80’s!
@R20Motorsports would be a hit these days with the mileage they got huh.
@@hegonefishing9122 Yeah these old light cars were pretty efficient

Is that a 968 porsche?
Its a 951, 944 Turbo S
What do I need to tell the dealership in order to get the running boards to connect to U-Connect? ‘Flash the system?’ I called and they don’t know. Also, can you deploy the boards down before you turn off the truck and they will stay deployed down for parking in a tight parking space to avoid door dings? That’s why I want them if true
The dealer needs to update the canbus system to add the control module into UConnect. Not sure what its called, but it should be in the dealer installation instructions. If they can’t do it, you should try a different dealer or call Ram. My dealer did mine with no issue. You can use the soft switch in the center screen to manually lower these down. They will stay down when the truck is off. Not sure if they will help protect from door dings as they don’t stick out very far, but they will stay down. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Beautiful… just bought a 2013 GP. Not nearly as clean as yours. I need to replace some things. Like right front fender liner, and suspension. Any idea where this baby is today?
This is the best Mini made, great cars. I sold this car last summer to fella in Newport Beach, CA. Only had 7K miles.
How love will it last ? Is it a permanent fix
The dry ice removes the layer of oxidation where the plastic turns white. What is left is fresh new plastic so the finish should last as long as the original finish did. How fast it turns white again is a function of the environment that the car is in. Basically, moisture and sun exposure degrade the plastic to make it oxidize and dry ice doesn’t change this process, but its much more effective than a dye or protectant that just covers the problem.

Just a hunch….. th-cam.com/video/hSk9nKYbLbg/w-d-xo.html
One of these is sitting down the street in a driveway and haven't moved since a couple years, imma try to buy it of the owner. I hope they'll sell it.
Yep, only 1,500 were made, rare car.
Very effective process. The results say it all. Lot of work holding the wand over your head for hours though.
Yep, gun and hose are heavy. We take our time and run half days. When you get tired you can cause damage…. Thanks for watching!

Clean it all you want but that tire is not street legal due to age
Well we noted in the title they would be replaced. Never heard of any laws about tire age though…. :)
Hollywood.
Think it's important to mention it is 4.4 US quarts = ~4.2 litres
Good addition.
I drive a M2C and that video helped me to install a Grill. -If you have thin rubbery gloves (like from a Doctor) and have slim hands - than It's possible without removing the Top bolts. -I sprayed this gloves with silikone and this was the key..this way my hands were slipping through the grill pretty easily - whereas before I thought how?! -I was as able to open all Top Clips and the annoying 2 side clips (as mentioned in the video - these are key) -For the bottom ones, I did need a Pry tool that I used from the inside. So My hand was behind the grill, and I had to pry 2 of the bottom tabs from there. -You can build up a bit of leaver strength by setting he pry tool on the bottom area, which has a bit of stair like surface. Therefore, you're able to leaver that pry tool a bit. The whole process is much easier than I thought - but some of the tabs just need a bit of patience without pulling on the front grill like crazy, A gentle continuous pull should be enough with one hand - whilst you work through the tabs. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!
Very nice
Thanks for watching!
very good work

What drill do you use? Lol I had to use a drill bit because the self tappers wouldn’t go through the bed liner
Just a regular Makita drill. Maybe the drill portion of the self tapping screw was defective. I had no issues. Good luck!

Yes it was. Thanks for watching!
Superb work, well done!
Thanks for Watching!
Cool, might damage the control arm after a long time of doing that, but you're the professional. Maybe idk
Not a chance. Dry ice is much softer than sand blasting. Aluminum parts can take full pressure and lots of cold.
Tf you mean sandblasting right, I mean any peace’s of dry Ice get on your skin and it’ll fuck your skin up and ik sand gets everywhere when sand blasting even if it’s contained lol
This is Dry Ice, we wear gloves and its not a big deal. Much easier to deal with than spraying sand everywhere. Also much softer so we can clean wiring, rubber, plastic, painted parts, etc.
wunderbar
Naturlich!
Definitely
