Mountain Lake Full of FOOTBALL Sized Rainbow & Brook Trout | Grand Mesa | FLY FISHING COLORADO
I went up to one of my favorite lakes on the Grand Mesa along with my dad and father-in-law. We spent the day battling intermittent rain, but the fatties that were hitting our nets on almost every cast and the beautiful scenery more than made up for it. The Grand Mesa is an incredible place to explore and fish.

FLY FISHING COLORADO | Riding Horses To Fish For NATIVE Cutthroat Trout | High Country
มุมมอง 9784 หลายเดือนก่อน
When your older brother suggests saddling up the horses and riding up to the high country stream you've been wanting to fish for native Colorado cutthroat trout, you say, "Please and thank you." Here's a little highlight video of that day. Come along for the ride to one of the most beautiful places I've been fortunate enough to fish. Instagram: trout.addiction
FLY FISHING COLORADO | Float Fishing For Hungry WILD Brown Trout | Gunnison River
มุมมอง 4.2K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Fishing the legendary Gunnison River from a float raft is a special experience that has long been on my bucket list. So when the chance to get out on the water with my buddy Preston presented itself last Summer, I jumped at the opportunity. With gorgeous weather and clear skies, we hitched up the raft, loaded up our gear, and made our way down to the river for what would hopefully be an epic da...
FLY FISHING COLORADO | Native Cutthroat Trout | Alpine Lakes
มุมมอง 4.1K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
In the middle of Summer 2023, my wife and I hiked up to one of my favorite clusters of alpine lakes in western Colorado. With heavy winds and quite a bit of snowpack still on the peaks, the day wasn't without its fair share of challenges, but thankfully the hard work paid off and I was rewarded with some beautiful fish and some great memories. Fly Fishing For ARCTIC GRAYLING In A Colorado Alpine Stream | High Country | FLY FISHING COLORADO
มุมมอง 1.1K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
The Arctic Grayling is hands down one of my favorite fish to catch on a fly rod. Not only are they stunning to look at with their colored up sail fins, these fish also put on a show by often aggressively exploding on dry flies in a way that has you grinning ear to ear, and they fight a lot harder for their size when compared to their trout cousins. While Grayling aren't native to Colorado, they...

I know right where u r good little lake
Amazing! Again, which lake is this?
Do one ever get tired of catching footballs? Nope, never!
Is this near grand junction ? Beautiful lake thanks for the great video ✌
Wow, this is so amazing! Beautiful!
Great Day! Which lake is this?
Only a moron asks
Super sick! Great content!
So much fun, AWESOME!
Wow! Supreme content. Beautiful spot.
Just WOW! What a great time of fishing, I cannot wait to learn more about fly fishing. Of course a beautiful and productive lake in Colorado does not hurt. Good job Paul. God bless
@@michaelroberts3220 thank you!
Nice brookie bro!
Thank you bro!
Wow!!! Awesome!!!
Love trail riding into fishing spots. Great video! PS. Love that song at the beginning, I use it a lot in my videos too :D :D
Bullseye cast way to go!
Thank you!
They sure are hungry in that stream. I fish it every year at least once and they're a lot of fun...watch out for the moose critters! Very nice video!
Thank you! It's one of my favorite places. I've only seen one moose in all my time spent up there, made sure to keep my distance!
What stream is it?
Nice video. That's a nice place to hike. I was just at that trailhead last Saturday and went the other direction and was thinking I needed to return to the opposite valley. This just pushed me over the edge and I'm going to get that done....and take my fly rod!
Get there before the water drops too low, it's beautiful!
Well, I might have to try that middle lake. I've fished the lower one and caught a few and been surrounded by hoards of people. The amount of people have kept me away from that area for several years. I think I might be due to go back, though I know it's even more congested now. I've hiked around the middle and upper lakes but never wet a line up there. Looks like you had a great day!
Yup, it's definitely gotten quite crowded. The middle lake has always produced fish for me, can't say the same for the lower lake. I've never fished the top lake, I'd like to try and make it up there again this year before the summer's over. I'm thinking about coming into the basin from the OHV trail on the other side.
The fish at the 14min mark was a stunner
Some pretty lakes!
Great video, from NE & will be up near Joe Wright mid august to try for some Grayling for the first time. Any tips for me?
@@westoangling thanks for watching! I’ve had a lot of success with dry droppers, usually a larger stimulator up top and really any nymph on the bottom. They love the surface bite and that’s what makes them so fun to catch. If you can find an inlet, that’s probably where a lot of them will be.
Absolutely beautiful!
I am planning to go to this lake in July. Please tell me where to park. How far is it to walk to the inside of the lake? Thanks.
Is this in sd
What a beautiful lake! Lots of nice fish in your net!!! Congrats from Japan!
Thank you!!
Was the lake very crowded with people and are u you allowed to keep the trout
I was the only one fishing the lake that day, and no, this lake along with the other two are catch and release only.
@@trout.addiction dang ok well I wanna do a trip up there and camp and i’m just trying to get as much information as possible. Cuz there is not much online about it. Also do you need a permit to camp there cuz I keep seeing things about that
@@comicpeak4560 I don’t believe you need a permit, but I would double check. I’ve never camped up there.
The smudge!...the smuuuuuuuuuudge!.. Enjoyed it...but that stupid smudge REALLY detracted from it...
Totally, I was pretty bummed about it too when I played the footage back. Good lesson for me early on to check the lens frequently. Appreciate you watching!
@@trout.addiction despite the smudge...I loved it.
Amazing content. This is what keeps me going from month to month.
Awesome! What a great idea!
On my bucketlist!!! Beautiful scenery, good fishing, what is not to love right there?
How you can you not pick up fly fishing with such scenery? 😀
Dude, this is so awesome. If you're not willing to say what stream this is, could you at least let me know which county in Colorado?
This is so beautiful ❤
Beautiful scenery and perfect handling of the fish.
what color wooly bugger?
This is awesome.f Cheers Bro!
Thank you!
Ive never fished an alpine lake, but recently moved to Salida, CO and am gunning for It this summer. Do you usually fish streamers? or any dries? I imagine terrestrials might be productive.
All of the above. If the wind isn't too bad you can usually see the fish cruising the banks and slurping flies off the surface. BWOs have done really well for me as far as dry flies go, and you can never go wrong with a wooly bugger.
Some beautiful fish there. When I was there in July 2021 further up the shelf alone the steep bank is where they were hanging out. Tight back cast forced you to use a roll to get out there. They weren’t more than 25-30’ off shore so doable. Looks like you had a beautiful day. 👍. Some really great fish you caught that day.
I never knew they had them in that water, I was up there two years ago and almost wet a line, but wind a T-Storms had another idea. I’ve caught them at the other lake option that requires a good 4x4, the Parachute Adam’s worked well for me up there. Love your channel. 👍
Those thunderstorms are so unpredictable. Funnily enough, I've never been able to catch them at the other lake, hopefully soon. Thanks for watching!
New subscriber from so cal. I am going to try to learn to fly fish this spring/summer, Gunnison is on my bucket list.
Appreciate you subscribing! Learning to fly fish can be difficult at the start, but it's so worth the challenge. There's nothing quite like it; you will get hooked! (pun intended) Lots of great water to fish in California as well, I'm hoping to spend some time in the Eastern Sierra this summer.
Beautiful scenery. Cheers from Kaiser Downey ;)
Haha, thank you!!
Ready to go.
Hi - My wife and I are looking for a two or three day float fly fishing for trout. Do you have any suggestions for fly fishing loges who offer multi-day float fly fishing with experienced guides. I fly fished when I was young but my wife will be brand new to fly fishing. We hope to stay in a lodge with meals provided. Do you know of any fly fishing lodges that offer couples fishing experiences? Thanks!
You’ll want to look into Black Canyon Anglers. They’ve got a lodge in the Gorge and offer multi-day trips
What weight rod did you pack ?
I used a 4wt, which worked fine on that day. I’d recommend a 5wt at least though since it can get pretty windy up there.
@@trout.addiction I go to similar lakes in the Sierra Nevadas in calif. Good times. Thnx for sharing your adventure. I’m in Santa Fe if you ever want to link up. I go all over New Mexico and souther Colorado.
@@Mattytube18 lots of awesome lakes in the Sierras! I’ve been trying to explore that area a lot more the last couple of years. Tight lines!
@@trout.addiction I have sone cool spots to take you if the opportunity ever opens. There’s big golden trout up there.
@@Mattytube18 totally down!
Miss that big time. Nice catch!
Nothing like it. Thank you!
Awesome. Which guide service did you use
Preston guides for Montrose Anglers; hands down best fly shop in the area!!
What stretch of the gunny is this? Where did you launch?
Pleasure Park!
@@trout.addiction Did you pull out at Delta? Love this video btw!
@@luttabuttakat5 Thanks! We pulled out at the Black Canyon Anglers lodge which is just east of Delta
Slick!
Man...that was nice!!!
Awesome, what a great adventure. I enjoyed that solemn moment with the eagle … haha!
