In early November, I swapped my Paris apartment with two creatives from Vienna. When the week arrived, the connection to a smaller, quieter city offered a gentle calm to what was a low time for me.

10 days in Morocco | Agadir, Essaouira + Marrakech | Food poisoning, cats, pretty things

I flew from Paris to Morocco for ten days across Agadir, Essaouira and Marrakech with my friend Alaa. Loved so much of this trip, but also felt like I couldn’t blink without a man harassing me. Anyway, such a long vlog, I wonder if anyone *but me* ever will watch it all. Summary, then? It features a lot of dread and complaining (I'm turning French) balanced with bliss and delight. I struggle with vlogs about time passed at home. They feel kinda damp and scattered, I feel ugly, sometimes I archive them later. This took me so long to edit. But I got there. What I love most about vlogging is carving new relationships with memories and the act of visually reflecting -something, as a writer/communicator, I often don’t get to do - and finding so much appreciation for my life. ...

Over summer, I stayed in the south of France between living in Lille and Paris. In my final month - October - I lived in Sanary-sur-Mer, a small town near Toulon on the French Riviera. Summer began to slip away, and I needed to close this chapter of life as the ocean became angry, and the skies began to rain. Last year, I uploaded a vlog with my first 100 days in Lille, which I've since made private because 1) I feel like it wasn't very good as one of my first vlogs and 2) I had way too many personal thoughts floating around in those subtitles. But here we go again - more meanderingly melancholy musings on living in the cold north of France, this time my last 100 days in the city. What I loved about...

Welcome to morocco ❤❤
Morocco 🇲🇦 is an amazing kingdom.
So cosy! Im so happy i've founded your film bcs I'm interested in a pair of houses: 1 in this village and 2 in Saint-Geniès-de-Fontedit. Have you ride a bus to Beziers maybe as well? KR
Sublime!!! Finally someone that came to Naples not only for food, thanks a lot ❤
@@darioche85 I’ve loved visiting the city through literature and cinema, it has such a beauty to it that’s hard to describe
@@tahney you'll be always welcome❤
Great a relocation there in Pisa. Cheap affordable price logistic for Europe 😮
Lady, these are spectacular.., you are serious poetry!
@@miguelmelchior986 Thankyou 🥰♥️
Thank you for a lovely video!! 😍 Is this village "livable" on a more permanent basis? I´ve seen a house for sale and I want to go down in September to look at it if it´s still there. I´m 71, single and just want a quiet life and get a dog. Tell me what your thoughts are!!!! Thank you! 🥰
Hello! Sorry for my slow reply, I don't really see comments coming through. I think it is liveable - to be honest, it is mostly retirees living here from Australia, UK, Sweden etc. Everyone is very friendly, and I found it quite easy to meet people even through I was only there for a couple of weeks. But, also, it is quiet and peaceful. Not too far from Beziers too, for amenities. Bon chance!!
@@tahneyThank you for your honest & informative respons! ❤
Gave me nostalgia for a life I haven't lived before. Please keep on going!
This video is so beautifully captured! Very therapeutic!

It is the absolute prettiest at night. The lights on the canals 😍😍 Tysm ♥️🤍
I absolutely loved your video Venice is my dream place to visit someday I loved how you captured the art the streets all around Thankyou grazie mille so wonderful I await your next video alla prossima 💖💖😍👌🌟
piacere mio! thanks for watching 🥰🥰 I hope you can go one day! It’s so beautiful. I read that there’s a difference between a place being full of tourists (for a reason) and it just being touristy. It’s definitely the former!
before the bridge was free but they have decided to follow the american way
Haha!
What a wonderful video! This was a wholesome one ♥️
Thanks so much! I loved revisiting the memories 💓
Particulary love the train ride images, and time with your grandpa 🥰
Cold and wet winter weather is not the nicest time .. however I guess you had some nice experiences as seen on the video 🙂 After some palaces I recommend 'This is Germany' on YT or similar videos of Dr. Ludwig. Unfortunately there are 25.000 palaces in Germany .. too much to visit them all. Have a good time on your trips 🙂
I love every single one of your videos. Last summer, I had to make a decision about moving to Pisa for an internship. The internship itself would have been a very important step for my future goals, yet I was in doubt to move from a big city to a small one. Anyways, I watched your Pisa video and that video made me sure that I could live there, actually! So, I made the decision and now I'm in Pisa, having my best life in this small yet politically important Tuscan city, going for long walks, living slow, appreciating what I have. I've lived in big cities for my whole life and I now realize that for the whole time I was yearning for a slower life. People here taught me that it is always possible to do what you do with not being in hurry. Similar to what you said in that Pisa video, I also have a different definition for "home". And I'm glad that I feel like I'm home. Long story short, thank you for capturing your life and make us humans know that there are people out there who enjoy the small details of life, comprehend the spirit of the environment that surrounds them.
Omg, this totally made my week <3 <3 Where are you originally from? I’m come from a small town, but in Australia you kinda have to move to larger cities for a lot of careers (I was in Melbourne and Adelaide for all my adult life). I’m really loving oscillating between both in Europe - I'm a bit torn in two! I hope your internship has gone well, and it’s beautiful that the experience living in Pisa has been so important as a change for you, and opening the doors to new lifestyles and appreciating different ways of being. How long will you stay? And where will you go after? Thankyou for such a lovely message too <3 I spend a lot of time on my vlogs as a way to reflect on and remember my life, and it’s nice to know that they’re being watched by kindred spirits out there <3
@@tahney I've spent 24 years in Istanbul, Türkiye since I was born and in 2022 I moved to Italy for my master's. Last year I was in Milano but living there was full of ups and downs. I felt a bit lost there and tried to find ways to escape. So, related to my major and my interests, I could go either to Genova (one of my favorite cities) or Pisa. The internship in Pisa was so exciting and I ended up with the decision of moving here (you helped me without even knowing it). Since it's a long term internship including the thesis, I'll be around until the end of the year. To be honest, since I'm enjoying what I'm doing and living here, etc. I want to stay for another year in Toscana (maybe in another city) if they offer me a position. Also because I'm having a lot of fun learning Italian and interacting with locals. I'm an introvert guy but when I have the opportunity, I love getting to know people I meet. To me, it's so obvious in your videos how much effort you put in. Also, I prefer watching video diaries with more ambient content than a person's talking. And, I like the spontaneous quotes in the videos :) It's surprisingly beautiful that we have no idea how we can affect strangers' lives with the things that we do, make, say. A small smile can make our days and a video can affect our futures so on and so forth. So, please know someone out there is enjoying watching your content, so please keep up making videos! :)))
Hii thank you for visiting my beautiful city! Hope you had an amazing time💖

This video warms my heart. the music choice, the frames and everything you captured is so calming Aaand I feel you so much on not being able to talk to the camera yet haha
Hello! Somehow I missed your message <3 I'm glad it was calming (currently watching it right now to soothe!). Your videos are so gorgeous, I just subscribed :)
This is a case where art is more beautiful than life for me. Better to watch this film than be in Paris
I feel the same. Sometimes it’s very soothing to visit the visuals without the other pressing stressors (crowds, transport, time limits, forking out money) from the day.
Beautiful and dreamy. The reality was needed. I hope you continue to feel comfortable in your new space! France is a challenge for French people. Especially, living in Paris. I might live there eventually, but my Californian personality needs a place that’s a bit more cozy, yet urban. I do love Marseille! Hehe! I have 2 nephews born and raised in France. I don’t have kids, and they’ve informed me, I’ll need to live with one of them, when I’m old. Sweet, yet bossy (bossiness runs in my family, so it’s not so foreign). 😉
💗💗💗 thankyou! I absolutely adore Marseille too... felt like it was worth it to give Paris a few years and see if it sticks. Bois-Colombes defs gives me more of a laid back Melbourne/Australian feel of village life seperate from the city which I was craving. Thankful to have found it bc I think I would have resented Paris living inside it! Maybe I will meet you in the south once we both hit retirement age as cool childless aunties!
Going to Pisa for 6 months as an erasmus student! Excellent video. Definitely deserves more recognition 👏
Thankyou this is so sweet! I hope you have an amazing Erasmus. It’s a gorgeous town, and so close to Florence and the rest of Tuscany… you’ll never be bored.
Damn people! Put some clothes on! Or at leas trim that body hair!! 🤢

Can’t continue the food makes me hungry. Lol. Will come back tmr ! ❤ night x
Is this my first hate comment? 😂

Hi, it's the firstime I saw a foreigner present Provence with a sort of Melancholia. It's strange because it's really french or close to the french spirit : Spleen, melancolia, Rationalism, Existentialism.(The reason why a lot of people in the world think french people always complains and are never happy... But in fact, we are just realist, and feel the sadness of the human condition). And the beauty beetween them.
Thank you for your thoughtful words, I relate to them, and it special that you saw that in my video. Take care x
So beautiful
thankyou <3
what camera do u use to film? also i luv ur video!!!
Fujifilm xt4 and dji pocket 2! Thanks so much ❤️
oh this village is so beautiful, craving those long summer days!
Hi there. Just wondering what your experience was like during the wet season? We are planning a trip to Fiji around March
Hi! If you travel often, you might like to give it a go. But if you are putting all your money into a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, I'd give it a pass, bc you just never know what can happen. We were delayed leaving by 4 days because of a cyclone. At this stage, our accommodation was being paid for by our insurance company, so we were at the Sofitel, and had plenty to do inside (cinema, restaurants) but we couldn't swim or really leave at all. The weather has the potential to put a damper on your holiday - most of what is great about Fiji is the outdoors!
You captured the city
thankyou <3 i love it! can't wait to visit again

you've captured these cities so beautifully - and enzo is the cutest!!!
Such a lovely a meditative view on these lovely, beautiful details. <3
thankyou <3 it was such a pleasant time of year to visit, and nice to take it slowly and find all the little things to enjoy. i can't wait to revisit one day.
Love this style of video! :) It's such an intimate way of seeing a place, through someone's thoughts and eyes.
Thanks, that's so nice of you! I haven't done a voice-over in a while, because I felt like it was a bit over the top, so it's nice to get this feedback <3
@@tahney As an introvert, sometimes what feels over the top to me is having so many videos of people's faces yelling their experience at me. 😅 Everyone prefers different sorts of videos, but yeah, ones that feel like books are my faves: I want to gain a nuanced perspective of someone's lived experience, not just watch someone flex their perfect life.
Does the old rule about women covering their shoulders when visiting churches not apply any more? Very enjoyable video with good production values.
No rules while we were there! Thanks for watching and your kind words <3
the colours, the food, the cats, the flowers, everything is stunning! loved reading your musings on home and place too x
