A prefer either a fascia iliaca or a PENG block for hip fracture patients. I feel they are both far superior than a femoral nerve block. But the femoral nerve block is very easy to perform so that is usually why most providers choose it.

i had one of these done on my shoulder prior to a couple of arthroscopic surgeries and was pleasantly surprised to have almost zero pain after surgery despite having my arm paralyzed for a few days. the local anesthetic shot stings, but it is well worth it!
