When a body challenged woman starts running, she enters a 100 mile race to help bring representation to a space lacking diversity and body positivity. Elite Heart features Callie Vinson, who once weighed 377lbs and put her health first and is now training to compete in a 100 mile trail race while promoting body positivity, representation, accessibility, diversity and inclusivity. She will make her journey traversing Wasiw and Nisenan lands in the Western States Endurance Run 100 in June 2023 as a co-sponsored runner by Rising Hearts and GU Energy Labs. The kinship cultivated between Rising Hearts and GU Energy Labs is a shining example of what it takes to continue visual and creative opportunities that’s not just a check in the box or a one and done opportunity. The collaborative heart work is to create more accessible pathways for the next person to see themselves in these spaces and resonate with those whose stories we amplify.
