@rydesenertainment i generally pick Tali. She's loyal over all 3 games. Even when she can't join you right away, she expresses a desire to do so. Plus, her romance with Shep is more lighthearted and sweet, which is a nice contrast to the galaxy ending stress of the entire game. Ashley's good but she's very much a hardcore soldier and doesn't soften Shepard's sharper edges any. Tali makes Shep laugh, flirt and be sweet.

@rydesenertainment there is only one romance option I went with that I actually regretted and that was Jacob as FemShep. Dear GOD, that was a slog, all for him to pull a total stereotype and ghost Shep's @.$.$. for another woman who he knocks up by accident.

I can tell you that most polls have Garrus, Liara, Tali and Wrex as favourites. Ashley, Kaidan and James are usually among the least popular. Jacob is fairly universally hated. I actually like James for what it's worth and think people misunderstand him. Jacob is really bland after the tutorial part of the game is over and he gets swallowed up by all the more interesting characters. The fact that he cheats on Fem Shep if she romances him REALLY hurts him. Especially ironic given the type of man his father is.

Ash, Legion, Garrus, Grunt, Zaeed, Mordin, and Samara are my favorites in that order. Snipers are the best.

@@rydesenertainment They mean Ashley or Kaiden. They accuse Shepard of cheating despite dumping them which doesn’t fly. More applicable to Ashley because Kaiden sends an email after the encounter to clear the air a little making it seem that he still sort of wants to continue the relationship but even there Shepard ‘cheating’ would be understandable. I don’t think Ashley does but I’ve never done it this way. As for Liara, well, she literally can’t say anything and thank goodness she doesn’t because she’s the reason Cerberus has Shepard in the first place.

She is a bit confused on how she feels. She still wants to be with you as long you aren't cerberus

@@LoganLS0 Good to know. Thanks. I obviously don't like Ashley that much. Don't hate her but even with her development, she is one of my least favorite characters but there is stiff competition.

Who are your fav supporting characters and what makes them that?

@@rydesenertainment Squadmates? I like a lot of them but instinct answer was Tali and Mordin. Yes the smart ones but that’s not why. Tali for so many reasons but mostly in the fact she’s got a fair amount of sass but knows when to hide it. Despite that too she’s quite insecure and goes through a bit aside the Reaper thing and develops in a lot of ways, notably her opinion on the Geth as well as becoming stronger as a leader. Mordin because so many people (both in mass effect and out of it) are downrate patronising when explaining things and when they think they are the smartest person in the room. Mordin while it can be this way on rare occasion (noticeably when talking about the genophage) he’s not like this usually which is rare for a character like him. Further you learn the reason he’s like this on the genophage is because he’s trying to convince himself, not Shepard. He also doesn’t make a good first impression with what he says about killing the Batarians who let Daniel go but again you learn why he thinks that way and he himself learns and develops a lot, no matter what happens to him at the end.

This scene could have been written much better with the same outcome. Just think about it - Ashley and Kaiden both serve in Alliance military. They are not just some nobody doing whatever like Garrus was in ME2 for example. How can they simply abandon their duty and run away to work for some shady corporation? They would have been court marshalled, lol.

Doctor Chakwas gets away with it because she was technically on a leave of absence, Joker officially quits and he does get into some trouble for it at the start of me3. I never thought about it this way but you are right. All that they had to say was 'I would like to help you Shepard but I have my orders, you send me anything you hear and I will do the same'. More or less a variation of why Wrex and Liara refuse to help directly, they really want to but what they are doing currently will help Shepard more in the long run. Which it does. In this case it'd be having the Virmire survivor coordinate with Shepard and send them leads that the Alliance can't act on. The only issue is then the whole 'mistrust' thing in me3 where the Virmire survivor can force Shepard or one of their squad mates to kill them during the ordeal with Udina but that whole thing was stupid anyway and doesn't change anything that happens in the plot unless you are trying to kill them but if me3 was more of a suicide mission similar to 2 well that could have been a thing as well.

@@gaigeschaal9070 Ashley and Kaiden are both very… acquired taste characters. I’m not a fan of Ashley either but at least she’s consistent here. She has strong opinions that are difficult to sway. I don’t see Kaiden being so harsh on Shepard doing what they had to, especially if he romanced fem Shep and doubly so if it’s sole survivor Shepard who has negative history with Cerberus. Still if we couldn’t have Ashley we can’t have Kaiden either. Logically I could see Shepard convincing Kaiden that precisely because Cerberus may be using them, they need people around them that they 100% trust.
