Learn At Home - Nigeria
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 29 พ.ย. 2020
Learn At Home - Nigeria is an initiative that brings together the Mastercard Foundation, Malezi and Data Science Nigeria to assist young people whose education was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We work with learners and educators to help them transition to digital channels for learning content delivery, student outreach and mentoring.
The Learn At Home platform provides free learning opportunities to children in Nigeria from Primary 1 to Senior Secondary School 3. As a student with access to a smartphone, tablet or computer and internet connectivity, you get to enjoy a rich, self-paced learning experience from our library of curriculum aligned e-notes, interactive videos, and fun quizzes.
To access the Learn At Home platform, go to our website bit.ly/LEARNATHomeNG and enjoy self paced learning from the comfort of your home.

SSS3 Chemistry: Oxygen
Overview
What is oxygen? Out of the 118 elements in the universe, oxygen is the 3rd most common. There is more oxygen inside your body than any other element, and at least 21% of Earth's atmosphere is made of oxygen. Oxygen is a chemical element with an atomic number of 8 (it has eight protons in its nucleus). Oxygen forms a chemical compound (O2) of two atoms which is a colorless gas at normal temperatures and pressures. We humans, along with many other creatures, need oxygen in the air we breathe to stay alive.
Key concept
Waves act like an aerator, stirring up the water and increasing its contact with the air. As the water mixes with the air, oxygen from the atmosphere is dissolved into the water. This wave action is one reason why there is typically more dissolved oxygen in the shallow water along a natural shoreline.
Uses
Common uses of oxygen include production of steel, plastics and textiles, brazing, welding and cutting of steels and other metals, rocket propellant, oxygen therapy, and life support systems in aircraft, submarines, spaceflight and diving.
Linked knowledge
The Physical Properties of Oxygen are as follows:
Color : Colorless.
Phase : Gas.
Odor : Oxygen is an odorless gas.
Taste : A tasteless gas.
Conductivity : A poor conductor of heat and electricity.
Solubility : Slightly soluble in water, alcohol and some other common liquids.
Density : It is denser than air.
Types of Oxygen
The three types of oxygen systems currently available are:
Compressed gas systems.
Portable oxygen concentrators (POCs).
Liquid oxygen systems.

SSS3 Physics: Calculations on Machines
มุมมอง 3.9K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Summery This course is about calculations on machines Calculating Mechanical Advantage and Efficiency of Simple Machines. In general, the IMA = the resistance force, Fr, divided by the effort force, Fe. IMA also equals the distance over which the effort is applied, de, divided by the distance the load travels, dr. Simple machines are devices that can be used to multiply or augment a force that ...
SSS3 Biology: The Cell
มุมมอง 1.9K3 ปีที่แล้ว
The cell (from Latin cella, meaning "small room") is the basic structural, functional, and biological unit of all known organisms. Cells are the smallest units of life, and hence are often referred to as the "building blocks of life". The study of cells is called cell biology, cellular biology, or cytology. Lesson summary Overview In this tutorial, you will learn 5 facts about cells. Including:...

Summery This is agreement between words in gender, number, case, person, or any other grammatical category which affects the forms of the words. This English lesson will help you to improve your speaking and listening skills by teaching you good conversations in English language. Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this lesson, students will be able to: explain the rules for subject-verb ag...
SSS3 Mathematics: Trigonometry

SSS3 Chemistry: Hydrocarbons
มุมมอง 1.6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Overview Hydrocarbons are organic compounds that are entirely made up of only two kinds of atoms - carbon and hydrogen. Typically, hydrocarbons are colourless gases that have very weak odours. Hydrocarbons can feature simple or relatively complex structures and can be generally classified into four subcategories, namely alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, and aren’t. This study of hydrocarbons provides ...
SSS3 Physics: Capacitors and Capacitance
มุมมอง 1.6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Summary A capacitor is a device used to store electrical charge and electrical energy. It consists of at least two electrical conductors separated by a distance. (Note that such electrical conductors are sometimes referred to as “electrodes,” but more correctly, they are “capacitor plates.”) The space between capacitors may simply be a vacuum, and, in that case, a capacitor is then known as a “...
SSS3 Biology: Cell Division - Mitosis and Meiosis
มุมมอง 10K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Think about it. As geneticists in the early 1900s applied Mendel’s laws, they wondered where genes might be located. They expected genes to be carried on structures inside the cell, but which structures? What cellular processes could account for segregation and independent assortment, as Mendel had described? Lesson summary Overview There are two types of cell division: mitosis and meiosis. Mos...
SSS3 Mathematics: Bearing and Distances
มุมมอง 3.9K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this lesson students will learn about bearing and distances. Bearing can be defined as the clockwise angular movement between two distant places. Rules for Solving Bearing and Distances. 1. Taking reading in bearing starts from the North Pole in clockwise direction and ends also at the North Pole. Objectives At the end of the tutorial, students should be able to; Demonstrate a clear understa...
SSS3 Physics: Gravitational Field
มุมมอง 8K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Summary The gravitational field is defined in terms of gravitational potential U. The potential U due to a point mass “m” at a given point “P” at a distance “r” from m is defined as the work needed by the gravitational force in moving a unit mass from infinity to the final position P. The measuring unit is Gal (after Galileo) (g/cm3), which is strength of a gravitational field or unit of accele...
SSS3 Chemistry: Solution and solubility
มุมมอง 2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Overview Think of a sweet like a strong mint or boiled fruit sweet. You put it into your mouth and enjoy the sweet pepperminty or fruity taste. But it doesn’t last forever. It gets thinner and smaller and eventually it is all gone. Where did it go? Into the solution of sugar and saliva you have been swallowing while the sweet is in your mouth. Your liquid saliva has been gradually dissolving (t...
SSS3 Biology: Transport System in Animals
มุมมอง 13K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this lesson, students will use guidance in the tutorial to learn about the transport system. The transport system is required by any animal that is too large for nutrients to reach all cells by diffusion alone. It is made up of the heart, blood vessels (i.e., arteries, capillaries and veins) and blood. The transport system allows the body to maintain a constant internal environment (homeosta...
SSS3 Mathematics: Quadratic Equations
มุมมอง 7953 ปีที่แล้ว
In this Lesson This unit is about the solution of quadratic equations. These take the form ax2 bx c = 0. We will look at four methods: solution by factorisation, solution by completing the square, solution using a formula, and solution using graphs. In order to master the techniques explained here it is vital that you undertake plenty of practice exercises so that they become second nature. Obj...
