What size is the socket to pull out the spark plugs?

Just picked up a 2012 zx6r and its about to turn 15k miles so time for some servicing including doing the spark plugs. This video is exactly what I needed to see. Looks pretty straight forward. Wasnt sure if I had to remove the steering damper entirely or not as I dont have this security bits. Apologize if I missed it but did you just remove the lower bolts and then slide the tank backwards? I'll he tackling this soon when other parts arrive that I ordered such as oil change stuff and whatnot.

I removed the bolt, and then tilted the tank back. If you notice in the video the tank is cocked over to one side just a little bit. Hope this helps! Good luck with the project!

@@k.b.bezdicek9137 I think after watching the video I realized how much simpler getting the tank up is. I know you moved it way out of the way but ill see if I can manage with just propping it up and leaving the rear mount in place. Will tackle the spark plugs, have a sprint air filter on the way. Also have a m4 gp19 slipon comming and then having the ecu flashed. Should really open the bike up. And then oil change as well. Should be all done by the end of the month. Then to wait for nicer days to actually ride lol. Bike already rides so well stock cant wait to see it with the changes.

Are the coils threaded or you just pull them out and rotate either direction being clockwise or counter clockwise i need a manual for my bike so thanks for the video

The coils themselves aren't threaded...you just push them onto the plug after the plug is installed. It is important to orient the plug socket on the coil in a way to make it easier to plug in the coil wire and minimize the strain on the wires.

I love how everyone skips over where the airbox hose connections goes.

I did it when I got the machine...about 5k. Didn't know how much it was ridden recently and decided to be proactive about it.

A very clear and concise guide. My bike also sat for three years; new plugs cleared up the sputtering. Thanks.

Good guide, thanks. A tip for removing the coil packs is to wrap some string or shoe lace around the top and pull up with one hand while twisting with other
