How do you budget for your books?

this is very interesting! well I am Muslim and many of My Muslim mom friends use TGTB, and we love it! like you said, it is God centered so it works for us just like any other family with a faith that leads to God. God and our faith are big parts of our daily lives, and we include what we believe in while we use TGTB curriculum. It is up to the parent to use it however they want, add and take away from it to your needs, and I honestly appreciate that about this curriculum.

We love The Good and the Beautiful. We are Baptist. Spoiler alert….. we personally know a Mormon and they are not monsters. And the Mormon we know DOES believe Jesus is God, And they believe in the trinity and they believe in salvation just like we do. They even read the KJV bible. I think most people have just googled Mormon and they have a very broad view of the people. There are extremists in every religion. I can give you a list of baptists who are way off from the Bible. Yes even some famous leaders in the Baptist world. Doesn’t mean we all are. Now I do think Mormons are off from the Bible in some areas, areas that aren’t in the curriculum. But I don’t believe all baptists are 100% right on the Bible either. I just believe it’s the closest I have found so that’s where I go to church. Also I’ve heard Jenny Phillips testimony and it’s great. 🤷🏼‍♀️

We use TGAB and in our family we have the conversation that it's not called, The Good, the True, and the Beautiful." The curriculum is what it says it is... it's our job as parents to teach the "True."

we are a huge book loving family, so many great books, we read so many read alouds throughout the year and my oldest plows through books so fast. I got a few new recommendations from this video :)

I was convicted by the Holy Spirit to not use it. My reason for not using it is I don't want to support the Mormon community. God has called me to be a good steward of what He gives me which includes how I spend money to educate my children. Also if my kids were to ask me, "is this a Christian curriculum?" I'd have to say no and then explain why I would have them read a Mormon point of view curriculum which I wouldn't have a justifiable reason to give them. Even the devil believes in God, knows him, and knows His power. Even the devil makes things look beautiful and tempting. It's sad to see Mormons believe that they will go to heaven when that's not true. I wish more Christians would share why they use TGATB and how they justify it. Thank you.

Thank you for your video. I agree with everything you said and do really like their curriculum. My oldest is going to be on Level 4 math and I have heard that some kids don’t do as well with the spiral method as the math gets harder so I’m keeping my mind open about that and will see how he does if I need to switch math. I do love that it’s visually appealing. I get overwhelmed very easily looking at other curriculum options and even though not many of my closer homeschooling friends use TGATB I do not let that bother me and keep doing what fits for us now. We are using TGATB this year. My son is starting Kindergarten, and my daughter with their preschool. I am excited because the K level and up are free (we are a 1 income family), so we invested in a printer to print it all. We are excited to try it since my son liked the preschool book so much. I planned to do devotions and Bible in the morning too.

Amy two oldest did the not consumed missions curriculum. It’s sooooo good.

I agree with everything you said! This is actually our first year using it, and I’m only using it with my fourth grade daughter. It has taken a HUGE burden off of me, knowing she is getting an excellent LA education that she can do on her own, as I have her younger sister to teach and a baby to take care of. As for the LDS part, that was a red flag for me for a long time, years really; but it finally occurred to me that I have been using mostly secular curriculum this whole time and weaving Christ in, so this would be a very similar venture. Another issue for people (me included), is that when you buy this, your money is going toward the LDS church indirectly. But again, I realized my money goes a lot of places I don’t necessarily like. I’m very happy I took the jump!

We have only had one “bad” book as well and it was “my father’s dragon”. Maybe in a different season of life we would have liked it, but we did not vibe well with it. Great recommends!

I was worried about using LA math kindergarten la math seemed little easy not in depth as some other curriculum

Journey homeschool is a new one for me, we’ve been doing science shepherd which is the same concept though and it works well.

Mr Poppers Penguins is on my list for the upcoming school year - I also really want to read all of a kind family at some point 😊

We are using Apologia for Science this year, but we are looking into Science Shepherd for next year. It is young earth worldview and has shorter video lessons We use TGTBLanguage levels 6 & 2, TGTB Math level 3, Teaching textbooks level 7, Apologia Earth Science, and Notgrass American History. We are loving our curriculum this year. Thanks for the update 🤗

Thank you for sharing! I know this is already from a couple months ago, so I hope things have improved with your sleep and babies sleep. That is such a huge part of post partum depression (and anxiety) in my opinion and experience. I think you explained it so well. You can feel that way but still truly love your life and your children. You are valid and important. It took me about a year to feel back to 'normal' with my last baby. I am hoping and praying things go differently for me this time around, and maybe most of all I just need to give myself more grace. I hope you do that as well and that the Lord continues to bless you and your family, in Jesus name! ❤

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing. I'm preparing for a home birth with my first in August 😊 Did baby have a shoulder dystocia? Really curious why the midwife needed you to get on your hands and knees at the very end. That's a common maneuver to help free a stuck baby.
