This overnight trip into the Saranac Lake forest didn't come without follies, but overall, it was a beautiful experience. here's a video recap of our latest adventure, with a few tips thrown in for those looking to go winter camping. #bordercollie #dog #wintercamping #wintersurvival #adirondacks #backpacking

Luna is a border collie and very used to hiking with me. I was relying on GPS to find my way in the dark, but I lost track of the trail. When I asked her to stay on trail, she found it and led me to safety. This documentary-style, outdoor video was done by a professional in dangerous conditions. Do not attempt to recreate without proper training. If you like it, let me know in the comments and ...
Keeping my border collie happy

Luna is a 3-year-old border collie who needs lots of challenging engagement as well as opportunities to just be a dog. Here's an example of how I keep my border collie happy.

Nice video, I am going to work with my lab to leave my discs and only fetch her special disc. Currently she jumps on me when I try to throw and rips my wife’s arm off when holding leash to go chase the disc
dude you videos are awesome, not sure how you don't have more recognition in the canine world. I have bc called daisy, smooth coat too and your tips are extremely valuable. A lot of the things you talk about, i have experienced with my girl. I like how you explain your thought's and your awareness towards luna, Luna is a beauty of dog :D
So awesome!
My dog learned a lot Easter and faster than this
Thanks for this. I was looking to get a frisbee that flies and is soft) durable. I had one before from Amazon. But that seller disappeared. I think it was something like the Hyperfiite Jawz. We'll see.
this was a great video. Came up in my recommended because I also watch all the Outdoor Boys videos. Love your pup, reminds me of my old Catahoula.
I'll never produce videos as good as the Outdoor Boys, but he's certainly the inspiration for trying to film my adventures. Thanks for watching!
Continue doing this, thoroughly enjoyed! Tips: get a gopro and a chest harness to be able to continue filming on the go.
Thanks! I've been hesitating to make the purchase, but if there's interest in these videos, I may go for it. It's fun to have these memories of my adventures with Luna recorded.
cheers mate, really enjoyed this and great to meet Luna 🙂 I had no idea that those fuel cylinders froze up like that and have never had anything like that happen on my trips even in winter down to -5C or so her. But then again, you're in a way colder part of the world! Good luck with Luna's Adventures, look forward to watching along, subscribed 🇺🇸🇦🇺✌🏻
I tested it out when I got home and it was working normally again. It's really the butane mixes that don't fair well in such low temperatures. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Hell yea man way to get out there. Im sure the dog loves it! Looks cold out there but I love getting out in the winter also. Keep it up!
Thanks! Yes, she has a great time out there. She got cold once or twice when I was stuck on my back, struggling to get back on my feet, but overall, she did fine and it was a great adventure!
Border Collies are tough critters!@@lunadiscgolfdog
Love it
So cool, my Danes could never😂
They might at least enjoy the walk :)
C'est un parc à Montréal ?

Why does my comment about not exposing your animal to dangerous environment, keep disappearing?
I don't know. Good thing I didn't expose my farm dog to anything she can't handle though. Thanks for watching.
Risk your life all you want, but don't risk your animal's life... unnecessarily.
@@bowieupland6112 I encourage you to research border collies and their ability to handle mild winter temperatures. Keep in mind that I had the appropriate gear for her, including a sleeping bag, portable shelter and other supplies if I needed to bivouac. If you have valid evidence to prove I endangered her in any way, I'd be happy to review your information, but I have thoroughly researched border collies, safety and dog training. I also get advice from professionals.
@@lunadiscgolfdog The only "valid evidence" necessary, is common sense. You yourself said that she could have ran off and confronted a predator, or gotten lost in the dark. Like I said, unnecessary risk of a beautiful dog.
@@bowieupland6112I think you're underestimating the heartiness and intelligence of border collies. She's fully capable of handling this mild winter weather or any wild animals in Vermont. But thanks for watching and commenting.
Love that dog !
So beautiful! Really makes you want to get out there and into the outdoors.
It's a gorgeous area. A lot of old trees, some giant boulders and cliffs. Beautiful ponds.
A border collie is definitly more clever than most people.
I dont understand why people love those new style plastic snow shoes ..they not perfom well at all in deep snow..when i grow up we use babish traditional snow shoes we had them for years never had a problem with them and they do their job in deep snow..
I got them as a gift and I used them because they were free. But I don't recommend them. I would much rather, at the very least, nylon straps and metal clips. Thanks for watching!
your a reasonable animal lover!...good for you, don't stop!
I guess I'm also a Jerk. My Luna is 100% off leash trained
The only thing you are doing wrong is living in Quebec, lol. You have a lovely dog, she is awesome.
You have trined her well the other people don’t know how to train there dogs. My dog kodie was never on a leash a leash either didn’t need it
please keep on walking her she looks so happy ☺️
very good dog ☺️ so well behaved
You are an awesome pet owner. You only live once...keep your rebel on! There is enough stress in this world...
Luna is the smartest dog I know 😊 Nice vidéo BH
I knew to training dogs and playing frisbees with dogs. I have a 1 year black lab retriever and he's learning to catch frisbees. His catch rate isn't very consistent though. Does that get better with time?
I started by having her grab the disc in my hand. The second step is to throw properly with a lot of spin so it floats down. And yes, I worked with labs in my youth and they can get very good at catching with lots of practice and proper throwing techniques. Both dog and human have jobs to do! Sorry for the very late reply. Thanks for watching.
How’d you get your dog to quit picking up the disc?
I have a how-to video that explains all the steps I took.
Mine steals the discs🤦♂️
Teaching your dog the leave it command and lots of practice should help.
Rainbow-K9 Dog Frisbee, a more bite-resistant and safer choice!
But how?
Thank you so much for sharing this. I would love it if you could elaborate on how you trained her to leave wildlife alone. This is one of the biggest struggles I have with my dog.
I mastered the leave it command at home and use that for everything I want her to ignore.
😂
Love it! Flip’n awesome status
Happens to the best of us!😂need to teach the dog to put it in the basket
That is not a smart dog, that is the smartest dog.
Wow, I love your dog. Hop u get 100k in the future
Bro, you should’ve brought Luna to this weekends event. I sure could’ve used her assistance a few times 😅
What breeds are Luna and Alpha? So cool what you can do with your dog. I just started to teach my dog to catch frisbees, but she will catch only about 1/3 of the frisbees (I also still have to learn to throw). My dog is a Plotthound tho, not really a "Sport dog", and notoriously hard to train also. We just do it a bit for fun as she isn't really that toy driven and will fetch balls only 3-4 times and not for fun, but more as work. She does however like to chase and catch a frisbee much more.
Alpha is a border collie/Aussie mix and Luna is pure border collie with working dog lineage. She's not a show dog or bred for quieter home life. She's bred to work. So I give her Frisbee jobs.
Licking the discs to keep track of where they are with smell 🤔🤔 either way Luna is amazing 🙌🏽
I know of other dogs that can smell their own saliva. Enabling them to find toys in deep ivy, etc.
luna is so cute!!!!!!
feel like I'm listening to Kevin Costner in Dances with Wolves with the narration (love it) great vid 👍
Thanks for a great video and comments regarding plastic waste. We just started throwing discs to our new pup because of her intensity and focus when tracking down and catch well-thrown discs. Shea is now 6 months old, this has been going on since she was 2 months old. She is named after Shea Stadium after her tremondous infinity to catch balls. I could have named her Willie after Willie Mays due to her catches. An amazing dog, irish setter/miniature poole mix. We are now testing the Hyperflite K-10 and JawZ and are finding what your video explains. Shea is signed up for the Skyhounds fun event in Wrightsville Beach, NC in Oct. Thanks again for a great video.
Is your “Superdog” and what I see on Amazon as “Super Hero Dog Flying Disc” the same thing?
Yes, I think so.
That’s great I love this video I happened to choose the hyperflite jaws years ago for my German shepherd lab mix and she absolutely loves it. She’s got a very strong bite and I’ve had the same frisbee for over a year with no punctures!
Any idea how the jaws will stand up to my GSD? He has a pretty hard mouth and I've gone through quite a few hard disks.
I'm not sure. My dog does not have a strong bite. But Alpha does and the discs hold up. A GSD might just need a Kong for something more durable.
Do you have amazon affiliated links for these frisbee’s?
No, sorry.
There's a guy in San Antonio that has his small cattle dog retrieving his discs on the course. It jumps in front of him and releases the discs over his hands. It's awesome.
LOl Cool i like how you make voice with your dog talking haha nice!
