How Many Languages Do You Speak? (Dar es Salaam, Tanzania)
#tanzania #africa #travel #languages
I asked a few people in Dar es Salaam about how many languages they spoke! Tanzania is a linguistically diverse country with over 120 languages spoken throughout the nation. However, Swahili and English are the official languages of Tanzania.
Swahili, also known as Kiswahili, is widely spoken as a first or second language by the majority of Tanzanians. It serves as the lingua franca and is used for communication between people of different linguistic backgrounds.
English is also an official language and is used in education, government, business, and other formal settings. It is taught in schools and is widely understood, especially in urban areas and among educated Tanzanians.
In addition to Swahili and English, various indigenous languages are spoken by different ethnic groups across Tanzania. These languages belong to different linguistic families, including Bantu, Nilotic, Cushitic, and Khoisan, reflecting the country's diverse cultural heritage.

SHREE RAM - Dar es Salaam!

Who is Shree Ram? Rama is one of the most widely worshipped Hindu deities, the embodiment of chivalry and virtue. The name is specifically associated with Ramachandra, the seventh incarnation (avatar) of Vishnu. His story is told in the epic poems the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. Amazing celebration in Dar es Salam #travel #india #daressalaam #tanzania #africa

The last one is Kad se vojska na kosovo vrati meaning when the army returns to kosovo
Thanks

They aren't from the Soviet era, at least not these shown in the video. Judging by their fleet numbers, these are made around 1997. Of course, they do look older, because the maintenance isn't the best. Actually, the chassis of these buses (Volvo B10M) was in production until 2002, and it was actually JGSP Novi Sad that purchased the last batch in Europe. (10 solo and 10 articulated B10MA). The chassis itself is very durable - the 1981 series of articulated buses, based on the older version of the same chassis, were in service until 2016, and the last units of the 1990 generation (both solo and articulated) were withdrawn in 2020. The tradition of bying Volvo bus chassis in Novi Sad dates back to 1969. That's when first buses on the Volvo B58 chassis were bought. Ikarus Zemun made the bodies for those. A bit later, local bus bodywork factory, named Autokaroserija Novi Sad (later Neobus) started making their own bodywork for these buses. They would also do the body refurbishment when needed. The most popular Volvo chassis type in Novi Sad was Volvo B10M (solo) / B1OMA (articulated). There were four generations of the chassis, and the buses in the video belong to the final, 4th generation, bought from 1997-2002. They are actually the only generation that is still in service today, recognizable by the 7xx fleet numbers. After the B10M, there were also buses based on the Volvo B7RLE chassis (made in 2005, still in service) and Volvo B9L (made in 2007, maybe 2-3 of them still work today)... That was actually the final batch from Neobus to JGSP Novi Sad before they got shut down around 2013. So yes, these buses are old, but, they are also a part of Novi Sad's cultural identity and history. No other city in Serbia has these. They are the city's trademark. I've read online that even the local citizens used the term "blue Volvo", that refers to the public transportation. Of course, in a couple of years, all of them will, most likely, be withdrawn.
Poznaje li iko od vas Sanju Stankovic bavi se prodajom knjiga u Nišu i ostalim gradovima Srbije? Niš lep grad!
These buses were built in the 1970s-1990s. They are slowly starting to be replaced, however due to the lack of money, they were forced to keep these buses for years.
Thank you for the info!
