George Gee's road trip recorded live at the prestigious Zurich Festival in 2001. An "On the Road" TH-cam video captures the steaming event and the backdrop rehearsals and band interactions.
The virtuosity and swingability of this veteran-packed band was on display that steaming summer evening captured here live. Selections include the rarely heard Duke Ellington's One Man Dance, Harry James' Trumpet Blues and Cantible, a Latin masterpiece Sunny Ray by Ray Santos, and a cool Curtis-Dixon Soul Serenade played, soulfully of course, by Charles Stephens. The CD is dedicated to Frank Foster, whose song Blues at Frankie's Flat features veteran Eddie Bert and music director Walt Szymanski.
