    Well, considering that he can't remember a lot about the day wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that he wasn't planning to unalive his parents? Maybe fear, sleep deprivation, and paranoia, about their parents attacking, them led to the events on Aug 20, 1989. Not money.

    I think Erik was always the more aggressive personality, he just had a codependent relationship with Lyle, where he had learned helplessness. In a way it was good they weren't housed together, cuz Lyle would've prolly been shanked and died trying to protect Erik from bullies, and in the end, Erik would have ended up alone anyway. Sometimes, the worse things are the best things.

      Tbh, i feel like It wasn’t the relationship with Lyle, is was because of the abuse that he had suffered from with his parents that made him feel helpless, or maybe he did feel that way with Lyle but mainly he didn’t feel helpless if that makes sense?

    Not knowing is often used to avoid saying what they dont want to say. But it could also be that they cannot truly remember every thought in every minute on a day three years ago. Certain things stick in the mind more then others in a stressful fearful situation. Without knowing the questions he is asked, its not possible to judge which it is

    Omg I am following this case more than 5 years and of course it feels like there is more and more, but these statements twisted my mind. I was always thinking about José's words "why can't you be like your brother", after first violence at age 11. At that time Lyle was 13-14, I always wondered what did that mean. Of course I was sure abuse continued longer than Lyle said but not so long. But know it make sense, Lyle agreed and didn't consider that relationship with Jose as AS. José's words make sense too, Lyle was doing same thing better and Jose didn't like when Erik cried (can not imagine). But even if Lyle agreed, how long did it continue, what does lyle's words mean about calabasa house's shower. There are more questions than answers 💔

      Yes Joses words were haunting and when i first heard them from Erik i had to pause the video. I was sick to my stomach cuz he was comparing the brothers and their compliance to his abuse. Lyles abuse from his father lasted a lot longer and I wouldnt say he agreed to the abuse but didnt fight back or cried like Erik which is sad because Lyles compliance was just survival. Lyles comments about the Calabasas bathtube were horrifying and there was no follow up to it. And it makes me think Jose was filming whatever was going on in the bathroom/showers.

    In the tape with Oziel: "I, I feel that- I have a lot of anger toward my relatives, my uncles, my aunts, my uncle Carlos and Aunt Terry, who knew about what was happening to my mother and did nothing. I just think that they were cowards, that what Erik and I did took courage beyond belief, beyond, beyond strength." "And you know, I, I feel angry toward my relatives. Why didn't you do something when you knew what was going on and I didn't, and you know, when I found out, you know, I did something about it." Makes me wonder what he thought the family knew. I don't think he's talking about the mother's unhappiness. That was not something that he took care of as soon as he found out, I don't think. Didn't he know about the su!c!de ideations and affairs for years?

Heartbreaking that this is the one family member he wished he'd gone to.

      I think it was established that when Lyle talked about his mother on the Oziel tapes, who he really meant was his brother, wasn't it? I'm not sure about this... I'm not even halfway through the trial yet, so I haven't been able to fact check it.

      @thebluemoonlady I heard that was Dr. Burgess's theory, and at times, it makes sense. I have so many questions I would have asked, and I wish Oziel had been more observant, but I think he had a very specific end goal with this and wasn't concerned about the truth.

    • @thereellifewithjenniferwoods
      @thereellifewithjenniferwoods 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @thebluemoonlady Wouldn't be surprised if he knew a lot more than he admitted. But who knows... Some interesting spots in the Dec 11 transcript are when Erik says he had no choice to kill them because it was ruining his life without saying what it is; the part where Lyle says his mother told him he was fabricating stuff about the father; the part where Lyle said he used to cry when his dad told him he loved him because of the "usual thing"; Erik says he must have loved his father or else why was something happening; Lyle says he thought the murder would never happen and that it was done quickly (doesn't sound planned to me); and the two days he gave Erik to sleep on it were probably the two nights after they bought the guns, indicating to me that they weren't bought as a result of a plan and that the thoughts of actually using them were a normal response to just having bought the guns in self-defense. In fact, Erik says in the second trial that Lyle asked him on that Fri if he could use the guns in defense and to think on it, so that lines up with what is said on the tape. These are thoughts I had that Oziel could have clarified. I wonder what Erik meant by not being able to wait a week even though Lyle wanted to. Oziel quoted him on that and Vicary redacted a similar note of his own on that. I wish someone could clarify that.

    Lyle was definetly more fragile than Erik, experts say he was and that he would need life long therapy for it and especially since he hasnt fully shared what happened to him. His tame version was horrible so i can only imagine what he left out. I do believe the abuse from his father went on longer than he said. Eriks details about his abuse was nauseating so i can see why Lyle held back on giving explicit details from both parents abuses, he was probably mentally protecting himself. Theres was probably way more evidence such as photos and recordings than what was presented. Ive always found it weird that only 2 nude photos were found. I think the grandmother destroyed the evidence since Erik said she took over the house and the parents things besides Kittys personal papers which Lyle said he took in order to protect her. Jose as definitely distributing the pictures of the boys to other freaks like him like the manager from Menudo. Lyle and Erik were both disturbed to know that photos were taken of them and im sure they were sickened to know that it was possibly given to others. The comment about Lyle being scared of the new Calabasas home bathtube and the sex scenes for it always disturbed me because there was no follow up to it. This tells me that horrible things were happening in the showers. I think there is a strong possibility that Erik made the final shot to Jose but since everyone assumed that Lyle did it, no one really cared to know the truth. Erik was more mentally fragile regarding that moment which is understandable. Lyles testimony regarding this is telling because he is sure he did the final shot to his mother but not his father and he just assumes he did it. He was probably taking the fall to protect his brother. I mean its entirely possible that he was so consumed with anger that he could have done the final shot to his father but i have a feeling that he didnt.
