Desolation Peaks | A Class 3/4 Adventure | RMNP
On July 28th, 2024, a friend and I set out to climb the less frequently traveled Desolation Peaks in Rocky Mountain National Park. These peaks require large sections of class 3 climbing with a small amount of class 4, but quite exposed class 4 for the summit of East Desolation. Be prepared for a longer day, even though it is only about 10 miles and 4000 feet of elevation gain. The majority of the route besides for like 3 miles is not on a trail, so have good weather. Fantastic peaks, highly recommend!

Tour de Abyss - A Fun Class 3 Scramble (Mt Bierstadt/Mt Blue Sky) #24/58

Follow along on the Tour de Abyss, a scramble loop that usually includes the summits of Mount Bierstadt (14,065') and Mount Blue Sky (14,265'). We added on two additional 13ers, Mount Spalding and Epaulet Mountain. A relatively simple and fun class 3 route with options of more difficult climbing with various levels of exposure. Would be a good introductory route to class 3 and above scrambling....
Mount Meeker - 13,916' Rocky Mountain National Park

On July 9th, I climbed Mount Meeker, Longs Peak's counterpart in Rocky Mountain National Park. Super fun route via the southwest slopes, difficult class 2-easy class 3. Awesome day with lots of solitude. Clocked in about 13 miles and 5,700 feet of elevation gain.
Pikes Peak 14,115' - Above the Sea of Clouds - #21/58

On June 30th, two buddies and I hiked Pikes Peak from the Crags Trailhead. Crazy beautiful clouds and fog made for a much more exciting day than expected! Sunrise was spectacular and made the early start extremely worth as usual. Mount Belford and Mount Oxford 14er Hike - #20/58

On June 23rd 2024, I hiked Mount Belford (14,203') and Mount Oxford (14,160'), two huge piles of rock in central Colorado. Suprisingly this day was a lot more interesting than I thought it was going to be. The views were impeccable as usual. A simple but enjoyable class 1-2 hike to summit Mount Chapin, Mount Chiquita, and Ypsilon Mountain. Beautiful views in all directions, truly a gem in Rocky Mountain National Park! We had to hike in from the Alpine Visitor Center off of Trail Ridge Road to the Chapin Pass trailhead. Summitted the beautiful Shoshoni Peak in the Indian Peaks Wilderness just south of Rocky Mountain National Park. Awesome but long day, clocked in nearly 18 miles and 3500 vertical gain. 10 hours car to car.
