Wow great memories. #alto. Hope My DH family are doing well. I remember this moment we were nervous but we did an excellent job. DH Member from 06-09 !
THE HUMAN VOICE AT ITS PURIST.
Exhilarating! The right way to sing this.
Written on the death of Abraham Lincoln. Nice performance, but please see - th-cam.com/video/GZfYqdf0f0I/w-d-xo.html - for the ultimate performance
Gorgeous. Bravo to Gitanjali Mathur.
Beautiful blend of voices!
I have formerly sung in this quality group. Always a joy to observe the blend and finesse.
.
Dang man this is basically tha legendary DH year every time ii listen to this peice it sounds more amazing we were gonna do this last year but we weren't good enough ii hope DH 19 or at least my final year surpasses this one
Curlyheaded K. thank you! as an alumni its great to still hear this! honestly the best year 😎💪🏼
@@LuisTorres-qj1sh omg hey Luis, yes this was a great performance!
Wow, thank you so much. I’m actually was a dimensional harmony member from 2006-2009 and I was one of the alumni that was a part of this group. This song was really challenging, but we nailed it Thank you so much for the amazing compliment.
OK DH!!!!!😭
Beautiful rendition of this amazing song.
Loved it, this was absolutely fabulous !! A perfect technique and so much emotion !
The closest to a "horror movie soundtrack" that Brahms ever composed! The English lyrics: "Nightly wakens all the haunting Evil-doing ghostly spirits! All thy soul to madness taunting, Soul to madness taunting!" "In the flower garden The frost falls all too soon! At night, it will be vain to hope To see the flowers bloom!" "Nightly enters Care and Sorrow, To thy soul such anguish bringing, That with weeping wakes the morrow! Yes, with weeping, with weeping Wakes the morrow!"
Beautiful!! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!! Outstanding job, accompanist!!!
Great performance, but during he climax of the song, leading up to the "I throw my flowers," I think there could have been a more intense build, as well as a slight ritard to really revel the moment. There should have definitely been a more deliberate attempt to slide on the word "throw," which accents the phrase but also makes it seem as a central idea or thought in the text, rather than an afterthought. The audience should know that it's a slide, and not a mistake. I thought the ending was also a bit abrupt, and they could have taken more time during and between "mortal clay" phrases. Overall, a great performance. I have yet to find a group with as good tone and balance than this group.
Beautiful!
Where's the "k"?
Absolutely beautiful <3
Beautiful! We sung this in my High School Women's choir but not nearly as well. Bravo!
Oi!
That random lady who makes that weird sound when they sing the section with the harpsichord.
The varying tempi make an unusual effect with the straight and shouted voices. Unsure tempi lead to a sort of singalong style.
unreal!
Interesting. How would it sound if sung almost like a carol?
+operapress Simon Carrington. I was in the choir back in the day!
This is great! Fresno Pacific University Concert Choir has this piece as a selection and singing this is so much fun!
I went to see Fresno Pacific Choir sing this. It was lovely!
I went to see them, 2 days ago :)
Gorgeous!
Maybe it's just the recordings but in all versions of this beautiful song on youtube, one can barely hear the basses who provide a fundamental drone in the back which is what the song builds upon.
A wonder-full, wondering, deep stillness at the heart of this music.
I love this song! I learned it in a joint mass choir in high school.
Hard to redeem a quasi trite arrangement even with the good voices of the the TBMC.
Many arrangements these days drag a chorus into "sing along" style. The piano destroys much of this arrangement/performance; that is for me. Good Luck!
Is this in Wyoming it looks like one of the colleges music department
harley barth This is at the University of South Florida, Harley
You guys have one that looks like wyomings haha but anyhow good singing
harley barth Haha thanks, I appreciate that!
RIP Stephen Paulus. Your voice will be missed. www.mprnews.org/story/2014/10/19/stephen-paulus
Is it ironic that the varsity high school choir I'm in is only 1/7 of the size compared to this one and I think we could sing with the same if not close to the volume! But this interpretation is inspirational!
Chills
Proud DH Member As Well , One Of My Favorite Slow Songs !
Love the angle you had from where you were sitting. Thanks for posting this!!
Love this! We're singing it again this Christmas at Lessons and Carols, and it Italy at San Lorenzo in Rome. Beautiful arrangement, truly. And this recording is just lovely.
Nice
In the one year I was in Mrs. La Rosa's class, this was one of the very few songs that I liked from all that she made us sing.
THEY DID THAT
What state is this? Surely not Texas.. lol
Proud DH Member :)
Stunning performance. The balance between parts during those color chords is just perfect.
