      MOT done and it passed with a few advisories! Bit of a welding patch needed on the sill and the MOT man advised to lanoguard any exposed metal etc (like you recommended too) just to keep it looked after... Do you have any experience of using it? About 80 quid to treat the whole of the underside ... I think I'll go ahead and do it to keep it looked after! Then after that I'll give it a full service like you did in the video. Are you doing much else to yours? Fitting a snorkel etc? There's a definite wobble at 45-50mph too that disappears above that speed. Might be kingpin bearings if that's a common fault, but I'll try wheel balancing first! Edit... Just saw yours already has a snorkel 😂 definitely want one but not sure if I've got the skills to install it yet!!

    Love it mate. Video. Great. Subaru. Great. Your sentiment. Great. I feel your pain. My Fsti went in the garage for what I thought was gonna be a 3 day job. But it’s been gone a month. Meh!!! I also feel your pain. I built my channel around my foz. I feel like it not being about has made me loose my mojo. For want of a better word. Good old ramble videos always tend to do relatively well. From my experience anyway. Keep the content coming mate. Really enjoyed it. Good luck with your car jobs and content creation. Enjoy your week.

      Thanks so much for your words man! Hopefully you get your fozzy back soon, there’s something about these cars that helps you get through the day. I think that drive gave me the motivation I was lacking to see it as a learning curve and not as an obstacle. Thanks again and I hope we get all together soon!

    I just finished my oil change on the transmission and transfercase. my transfercase took 1,1liter approximately and the transmission also took more than 1.6 liter. it was also much harder to reach the filler plug on the transmission (much less space). anyway i filled it up till it started it started dripping from the fill hole. the previous owner must have done some swaps I assume;-) curiously only 0,8l came out of the transfer case. i still need to make a small test drive, but i hope this addresses a faint whining noise. thanks for your great video!

    I see no o-ring on the transmission and transfercase when you did this. i searched for them in the part list, but cannot find them. how does the plug seal?

    • @ElLocoRodil
      @ElLocoRodil 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As far as I know they don’t have an o-ring. The manual tells you to use threebond sealer, but I did not use it and it has no leaked so far.

      I have spoken to some Mercedes techs and they have told me this engine is quite fragile let’s say, and hard to maintain running properly, the problem with car I reckon it was the fact that it hasn’t been used for long journeys, therefore it hasn’t done the distance to be able to do a proper regeneration. I have made one or two more videos where I remove the egr, replace the throttle body and clean it all before putting back together.

    To check alternator, start car, check battery voltage with multimeter on 20V DC If below 12.6V DC change alternator. If above 15V DC change alternator, Then bring old alternator to a part shop and get it inspected, probably needs a voltage regulator. To be clear the Ideal voltage for a 12-volt alternator is 14.4 but if the battery is at 12.6V (fully charged) that means the alternator is keeping up but I would recommend a load test.

    • @ElLocoRodil
      @ElLocoRodil 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I liked a video where I showed how I checked not only the alternator but fuses too, as if the fuse is blown the alternator won’t charge.

    Just got done dealing with this, I thought FOR sure I was going to snap them both. I used some brake fluid as penetrating oil and had 2 days to put it on a couple times a day. Then today I used my wimpy 3/8th impact and kept going forward/reverse for a few minutes. Eventually they both came out with a breaker bar and using the impact a few more times but since I was already doing the hub if I had to do it over again and I would have replaced the knuckle too and skipped all that pain in the #$% work.

    • @ElLocoRodil
      @ElLocoRodil 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hahaha I absolutely agreed! I have replaced 2 previously on another car and after soaking them for a few days as you did, I managed to get them out without snapping them, but this time I wasn’t that lucky 😂 that’s why in the end I thought, might as well end my misery and buy a new knuckle.
