    Thanks very much for your video. Liked and subscribed. Just did this process today. Tips for others: 1) use vinegar (soak in paper towel and drape over fittings) if corrosion prevents you from getting the cosmetic cap off or any other fitting off. 2) He was smart not to undo the handle's set screw completely...just enough to remove the handle...that tiny thing is easy to lose - cap off both drains! 3) The set screw is 3 mm in my case 4) Kohler is good to work with...they'll send an O-ring, vinyl bushing at no charge. If that doesn't work, they said, call back and we'll try something else. A replacement faucet won't necessarily help me as the circumference of the base is critical...no extra room with the sink's backsplash. 5) Moving the hub up and down was enough to use vinegar to clean the hub...getting the hose released wouldn't cooperate so I'm glad this/his solution worked for me. 6) Yes to his advice to use a strap wrench to remove the bonnet. Mine was way too tight for "finger tight". GREAT VIDEO

    Today I dug out my cheap old Proctor Silex toaster bought probably 20 years ago and found out why my roommate put it in the cupboard and bought their own. Just like yours, mine would heat up but not stay down. I don't know if the electrical contacts on mine were corroded but I applied some Deoxit with a Q-tip on them anyways and confirmed continuity with a meter. This did not fix my issue of "not staying down." What DID fix it was using a small wire brush to remove the dust and surface rust from the mating surfaces of the coil E-core and small metal plate that's supposed to stick to the E-core when the coil is energized. The handle stays down now like it was new. It takes a little upward force to force it to let go. The hardest part of disassembly was removing the "push down" lever. The end of mine broke off where it snaps into place. No biggie, I just used a little electrical tape on the remaining lever to make it slightly larger and wedged it into its corresponding slotted hole.

    Thanks so much for the video. I'm about to try to replace my stuck on zone valve this weekend. It's the normal honeywell zone valve it looks like a similar set up to what you have here. Can I ask you how you would know if the stop ball inside the pipe needs to be replace or anything else? It seems like it's just stuck on and if I tap the valve very lightly with a hammer it unsticks.

    • @diychicken7279
      @diychicken7279 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You will need to remove the valve controller to see if it is the valve or the controller that is sticking. Once the controller is removed, you can turn the valve stem with a small wrench or pliers (it should turn easily- don't force it).

    I'm looking after my neighbors house while they're away and noticed their faucet wouldn't swivel when I went to water the plants. Great video, thank you for sharing this! I didn't have the exact faucet, but its a kohler and looks very similar. And it was JAMMED up, didnt want to turn. Took the handle off, and as i was unscrewing the top cap, water started to come out...not good. So, i went to plan B! I actually keep a dropper bottle full of water and baking soda, for when i need to clean electronic corrosion off batteries...decided to flood the rim with this solution, and to my utter amazement...it started to be able to turn a little! So, dropped more in, worked it more, and it loosened up more and more as i worked it back and fourth. Then i dribbled some 3-in-1 oil along the rim, and as i worked it back and forth more, it loosened up even more. Now it works pretty close to where it should be, just a touch stiffer than new but useable. Anyway, this is what worked for me...but, your video was invaluable in figuring out exactly what to do! Even though i took a slightly different approach. Thanks again!
