The engines had the ability to catch on fire and they probably added a few suspension mods. The engine compartment was very hot. Plus even hotter if you had the early not yet fully developed turbocharger. If a fan belt broke and damaged a rubber fuel line under pressure you had a problem. What I haven’t figured out is how none of the Corvairs that ran the Darien Gap in Panama, I think in 1961, caught on fire. If they did we haven’t heard about it. The Corvair was a fascinating experiment with rear engine air cooled power plants. They had several design problems though. What I would like to hear or read at length about, is how Volkswagen and Porsche dealt with these same challenges or never had them at all. If anyone knows a source please share. I’m going to guess although the horizontal opposed air-cooled cylinders engine is a tested design, the fuel delivery system, the attempts at cooling and the accessory drive components with the belt system had flaws. Really if you look at that fan belt that constantly has to twist to go from one pulley to another, that can’t be good for longevity. Another thing, batteries do not like heat. Get the battery out of the engine compartment. Maybe this comment would be better on the CCF, the Corvair Center Forum. Looks like the car will be a beauty though. Nice work!

Where's the power steering

The thermos stat on Jeeps and, most likely all vehicles, is fastened to the block with two bolts. This is a terrible design which probably contributes to warping and leaking of coolant Why not design a three bolt thermostat? That might solve both problems.

Nice looking Bugeye. The bonnet (hood) fits really well which isn't very common with these and the wire wheels set it off perfectly.

Hi my brake come on when going like 40 -60 miles on regular road and if I’m going up hill it turns on and won’t turn off unless I take the foot of the gas pedal but then comes back on it’s a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Hi the last couple of days sometimes when i take off or corner slowly my handbrake light comes on for a second or so but rarely maybe once or twice in a half hour drive around town. Do i need to get this fixed urgently? What do you think is most likely the cause? I am willing to learn and do work myself so any advice would be much appreciated. 👍

Wtf was the point of this video man

I got a brand new radiator because it was leaking near the seal. I also replaced the thermostat. Now I've just noticed there is coolant leaking from the thermostat area. Did I put the thermostat wrong?? Or is the thermostat housing warped? Was no problem until I replaced it.

This is what happened with me on taurus 2013 v6 Just reset the alarm using odb 2 and take the car to workshop Open the throttle and clean it and it will work fine
