Hi I am Anamorphia and I am a big fan of cinema, and if you're on this channel, I'd guess you are too! On this channel we discuss and look at the latest news in film as well as the behind the scenes of films. We've looked at a lot of Christopher Nolan news, most recently his decision to switch from Warner Bros. to Universal Pictures and why he did so. We also have two videos on his latest film TENET, looking at how these films were made, using predominantly practical effects as opposed to CGI. We also have made film edits, where a scene is heavily re-edited with new visuals and music/sound effects to impose a different effect on the audience from the original. The process of this can be seen in my channel trailer "How to Rescore a Scene"
Oppenheimer's Unique Structure
Oppenheimer is a 3-hour, R-rated, biopic about a scientist in WW2. Despite this, it was the biggest success of 2023, with 7 Oscar wins and a box office gross of nearly a billion dollars.
The answer? Nolan's use of a three-genre structure.

Why did Oppenheimer sweep the Oscars?
มุมมอง 4.1Kปีที่แล้ว
Oppenheimer is Christopher Nolan's 12th film, but differs from all of his other releases. This is why Oppenheimer will be Christopher Nolan's first Academy Awards win. How inefficient. Why didn’t they just have a blue team go through one of the turnstiles and film the backwards timeline while the red team filmed forwards?
I believe this movie might be the best shot movie ever, but our fuckin brains can’t comprehend it until maybe 30 years from now for some reason
This movie won’t be truly appreciated until a decade or so later. It gets waaaaay too much unwarranted hate but I guess it’s just the bandwagon effect of ignorant sheeps regurgitating repeated opinions. I think it was innovative in so many different ways including the one you just mentioned. But my favourite is its metaphysical and ethical aspects. I suspect this movie will become a cult classic in the decades to come. I am sure many people will disagree with me but I do not care one bit. I still hold the belief this movie was a work of art. Yes it could’ve done with some improving in some areas but that’s exactly like every other movie ever. I don’t understand why everyone was so bent up and distracted by these “issues” whilst completely ignoring by the rest of the art and innovation behind this movie. The hate against this movie quite baffles me.
The whole shot is reversed in post, but he didn't want any smaller parts of the image to be reversed in post
Chris would say the mix/mastering is perfect 👌
Who's driving the bus??
1:40 …just 1:40
Wow really great video keep going !
Pure Gibberish 💯 🤦♂️
Phenomenal, really well done 👏👏
Don't try to understand Joker, just feel him.
so the footage hasn't been reversed 🥸🥸🥸
the harming thing about this type of hyper editing and structuring is that it can at some times feels dizzy. but its a short limitation to make a story like oppies work
This is a beautiful way to explain such a marvelous movie’s wonderful job I really enjoyed it
Thank you! Took me a long time to make, so much appreciated!
2024 September 💙😎 Is anyone still here ?
Nolan is good man of film maker❤
okay i don't care dude
Missed opportunity to add the other part of the chase to the music, the song is 8 minutes long so I say it had time
The video's a little bit too fast, but still hits
Pure magic🤌🏼🤌🏼😍😍
Nolan chad
The crossover nobody expected, but well deserved!
You made this scene so so much more powerful wow
It’s not a withdrawal, they’re making a deposit.
The soundtrack is so good that it makes me feel like I’m watching it for the first time again
i just realized, why did he shoot his partner when he unlocked the vault? wouldnt you do that to him after he helps you load up the money? thats alot of money to bag for just one person....
why wouldn't he want to reverse stuff in post? that makes literally no sense and was objectively done for several of the scenes
decreases the quality of the film
One person is supposed to be moving forwards and the other backwards. So they have to film both forwards and backwards and then edit it in a way so that it looks convincing. And then they did the whole thing again with different camera angles for the second version of the scene because it'd be boring if they just reversed the original scene.
And you both missed it. Nolan is time- specific oriented. As a viewer ( and in science ), time is relative so he is showing you visually a relative viewing. If you don't believe me rewatch the film.
@@alfredshort3❤❤❤
Because that’s Chris’s style he likes the real rawness of film making with practical effects.
Thanks for telling us exactly what’s explained in the film already…
That fucking bike!!!
When the immovable object meets the unstoppable force
Ludwig stands right next to hanz zimmer
A rare opportunity to have the guys behind the cameras in front of the audience. I love their respective works, great interview
thank you so much for the video, I am so glad Ludwig was added to the interviews because the score is always like another character in Nolan´s films. Also Goransson tooking over after Zimmer and it was a freaking good choice
Ludwig Göransson, Fucking genius man. 💖💖💖💖🔥🔥❤❤Thank you for giving this music, especially Can you hear the music and Destroyer of worlds🙏🙏, so far best score for me of all time.
God the tenet music just ramps up the intensity of this scene even more
2:25 perfecto
How did you remove the bg music from the original film?
There's a vid somewhere on yt of this scene but with really beautiful sort of Eastern? Prayer music playing? Does anyone please know what I mean and where to find it? 🙏🙏
Any plans for edits of Oppenheimer ost with other movie scenes?
Not at the moment unfortunately, I kept getting copyright strikes. Will be making a video on Oppenheimer’s story structure, with a bit of the OST in it!
@@anamorphia Great I’ll be looking forward to it!
@khjfreddy thank you, appreciate the support! 🎞️
Just going to add that other animals in Avatar are communicating too. Just as one example, the Titanothere with their calls and expressive plumage.
Amazing, the music fits perfectly❤
This is synchronized and intense. 0:00 High notes 0:19 Ticking begins ("Cap, it's Sam. Can you hear me? On your left.") 0:41 Organs stage 1, low notes (Portals open) 2:06 Organs stage 2, melody one octave higher (Ant man enters) 2:36 Organs stage 3 ("Avengers... Assemble!")
Lol and it ended with dr strange spinning the water bc spinning and the song hahahahhhaha lol
You should make more videos 👏🏻
one glaring fact how the musiv sync everything in place like it was composed for such scene or this is just a big coincident
I disagree. Oscar commitee hates Nolan more than any other director he will never win it. Even hitchcock, kubrick, kurosawa, takahata never won oscar
Well hate to say I told you so…
@anamorphia i was wrong. So yeah im glad Nolan finally won oscar.
Oppenheimer is a great reminder of how fickle recency bias is.
Dune Part 2 would probably grab a handful of oscars as well, gonna be a tough one
I do think being a biopic is gonna help Oppenheimer. Since LOTR: Return of the King swept awards in 2003, fantasy films haven’t been favoured by the Oscars that much. Killers of The Flower Moon may be a bigger competitor if the film delivers.
naah bro dune2 won't be near to Oppenheimer
Curious to know what everyone in this thread thinks now
great video. loved it that you kept it to-the-point and clear
Thanks a lot, I’ve been meaning to make more videos analysing films. Hope this was a good showcase!
I agree, this is his best chance to win an oscar
yes good video.
Thanks a lot for the support! Which awards are you confident Oppenheimer will win/get nominated for (Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress)?
@@anamorphia best picture best actor (win) Best supporting actor Best editing (win) Best adapted screenplay Best Director Best score (win) Best supporting actress is kinda iffy , if universal decides to campaign for blunt or not. Best visual effects (iffy) Best cinematography
