The one that started it all. No motorcycle is as stunning as the 1985/1986 GSXR. I had at 86 750 in the late 80’s and loved it.

This thing was a chick magnet in myrtle beach late 80's, speaking from experience and would do at least 155 before slight speed wobble. Was my first street bike in 1988 and I was absolutly stupid on this thing, ended up totaling it in a street race.

I just bought a 1982 model of this today :). It's in pretty good condition except nearly all of the gold engine finish has worn off - does anyone know what this was and if it can be reapplied?

Sweet ride

Had an 86 (G model) for 15 years. Great bike apart from the breaks... mine knocked the pads back if ridden hard, going in to corners I had to pump the pistons back out constantly. It went back to the dealer twice but they couldn't solve it. And no, there were no leaks and not likely to be air trapped as the breaks were bled innumerable times by numerous people and methods. No warps in the discs either.

The lamborginni Countach of bikes, in it's era. Soon after bikes like the VFR-750 Interceptor, made it obsolite. It's a terrible pity, the Bezzi concept Katana never went in to production.

How does one differentiate between the GSX1100S and the GSX1000? Outwardly, they look the same.

Bought mine for $900 needing work back around 1993. Fixed it up and sold it for $2400 thinking I made out like a bandit. If only I kept it...

The ga 1100 was first raced in 1981 then was in production for us to buy in late 81 to end of the gs 1100 e when the Gsxr came out

The E’s were screwed together really rather well and had some nice quality improvements. Please ride in proper gear though, I still wince when seeing someone riding a bike without proper gear on though after sliding up the road in my teens in a pair jeans.

my first was a 1979 T140...was black with a silver flash...

Back when this was new I saw it in cycle world and thought it was the most beautiful bike…. In 83 I ended up with a GS 1100e. Not disappointed…. Fast bike looks good. The katana bikes were pretty cool but very heavy. Time went by very fast.

The first high powered bike I ever rode and my absolute favorite. At one point I was so in tune with that machine I could flick around in a parking lot with such confidence and then on the road it was a beast, no doubt. Ride On!

I purchased one of these in my youth. Would do 50 mph in first gear and 80 mph in second. Never had a road/track to see what third gear would reach.

Thanks for posting this , had that exact bike back in 86 with a supertrap , the gray part of the seat is hard as hell to keep clean , that's how you can tell I'm telling the truth , peace .

I owned that bike when I was 19 - still love it. It was ahead of its time.

Not bragging, but i have owned and driven the 550, 650, 750 and 1100 Katana's Felt like a Ninja in the late 80s 😂

The BEST looking bike ever made in my opinion. I also love the GS650g, the one that is styled like that but with the round headlight.

Had 2 of those man what a blast to ride even sweeter with Vance and Hines 4 into one header pipe lol

My first street bike was a 78 T140E.....mine was blue with grey........my exhaust pipes were different...yours has the old style.

I survived bikes like this because I wore correct riding gear
