Say, where can I reach this "really good guy"? I have a number of Cartrivision tapes I need to recover. There's one person I know of who's trying to restore a Cartrivision machine but he seems to have given up.

Like your airplane but you are risking your life flying so unsafely. Many times during that flight you had no landing spot if the engine quit, especially during that awful landing approach. Remember, there are old pilots and there are bold pilots but there are no old, bold pilots. I hope you improve your flying habits because none of those risks were necessary plus we would hope to keep you around.

I don't generally put a lot of work into my youtubes, this was a bit of a challenge to reassemble as it came in to me in a bunch of emailed segments I had to link back together!

Hi there.... I am restoring one of these... was your motor working ok when you got it ? Mine seems to be very slow ?
Motor seemed like a 'weak sister' cheap brush holders etc, I ended up using an RC Car motor, RC280 IIRC? I was lucky to get a second one gut seemed to indicate motor ran but I haven't gotten into it yet. My Dad was a Philco manager sent to start up start a TV plant in Mexico City when these came out and he got one of these amps as a sample at work and gave it to me as a electronics training 'toy when I was ~6 years old, but I destroyed it and left the remains behind when we moved to NorCal in '57 then recently found out where that wonderous little amp was used! Now blessed to have two:-) Thanks for the view! This amp became "thermo-mechanically electrically intermittent causing a severe loss of volume, needs troubleshooting but I heard a nasty rumour about fine transformer windings and shrinking shellac encapsulant :-/ Message me at fb dot com /GTA351C I have some literature pics collected
@@GTA351C Thank you very much. I tested my circuit board...I removed it from the unit... connected to a 5.5v wall supply and injected an 800HZ signal in it. I used a signal tracer around the board and found a few resistors that were flaky.. replaced then and now its good. I also changed C1 which is a bumblebee Cap and known to always be bad. @@GTA351C _ used a USB cable in a hard wired USB port. A clean 5.5v - enough for the unit to run.

Is the frame rate on Cartrivision as jerky as it appears here? I’ve never seen one working, had 4 machines but couldn’t get any of them to work, gave them to someone else and he gave up on them also.
this is second or third generation copy, but with the skip field recording it was never the best, Larry Osterhoudt has offered to rebuild machines for ~$1000 + parts
@@GTA351C If I bought a non working machine off EBay now would he be able to fix it? Just sunk $1100 into repairs for my V-Cord machine but would pay him about that much for a working Cartrivision as soon as I could afford it. I have a few movie tapes for it still.

@@GTA351C The reason I said this is Les build a yellow eagle (ref his vid 2 Eagles to Fly) and I know he sold it. The one in this Vid sports a Verner 3V and I know a friend of his "Burt" he helped to procure a qty of those engines. when you talk to him ask him if he sold them all (assuming its the same Burt ;) .

@@parqld thx, he sent it to me by email and it came in as a bunch of short clips that I stitched back together. Burt is a crazy guy, we used to work togther at the same small company gopowersystems.com back in the 70's

He told me this is actually Muscle Car shootout because NHRA didn't allow primer and had to get the car painted for GGN.
