Both are great! Personally I am blessed by Zhou Shen’s music. Zhou Shen has both Asian and Western sensitivity. I respect and love the sensitive way Zhou Shen explores and stitches ancient Chinese opera, western opera, Asian folk song, pop, rock etc etc. Zhou Shen has an ancient soul and contemporary sensitivity. I am aware western audience may find some barrier appreciating Zhou Shen’s unique Asian sensitivity. The type that shake the foundation of my soul and blessed to have discovered such “ Shen music “ within my lifetime on earth. When a new art comes around, we feel ourselves differently. To me, Zhou Shen is that coming together of both new art and ancient voices, crossing time, genre and universe. For me Zhou Shen opens up old and new sensitivity, new possibilities , new ways of feeling about ourselves. Because of the challenges Zhou Shen had to overcome to be appreciated, I look forward to more surprises Zhou Shen can bring forth now that he has more options and resources .
