Touhou Fan-Made Virtual Autography is a fan-game that's a mix of your typical shooting game format and a (J)RPG where you can go in with a team of up to four fairies, with a wide selection of fairies to choose from that give certain effects. some increase your deathbomb window, some reduce the size of your hitbox, increasing or decreasing your unfocused/focused speed, and a bunch more stuff.
two important things to note when creating a team are the color of fairies, the total attack stat for either color, overall healing capabilities, and what 4+ star fairy you want to include as you can only have one of that rarity in a single team. the reason this is all important is because of the Party Battle system, where your fairies will attack opposing ones. if any opposing fairies are still alive when your fairies can't attack anymore, you'll take damage, depleting your HP. if your HP reaches 0, you lose, and while getting hit by a bullet doesn't reduce it, it DOES give all opposing fairies another attack, meaning they can deal more damage if not all of them are dealt with.
and now for the color system; excluding the heart pieces which heal you, there are two types of pick-ups in this game; red and white pick-ups. each pick-up increases a bar for fairies that are of their respective color, giving them an attack and a spell piece when filled. ideally, you want to gain as many items as possible in order to take as little damage as possible. completely defeating an enemy during a Party Battle will give you a fairy of the color of the enemy defeated, allowing you to place that fairy into your party in future runs.
and now for the explanation.
since this game doesn't have any kind of score-counter, there isn't really a proper score-run that you can do; HOWEVER, while there isn't a counter, there's still the fact that you can earn fairies by defeating them in Party Battles, which can be argued is this game's equivalent of score. the reason why i have "2 waves failed" in the thumbnail is because out of all of the waves in the game (excluding the final spell which i don't think really counts as a wave), there were 2 that i didn't defeat all of the fairies for. this also means that i only took damage twice (technically more if you count the hits, but in terms of waves it's two), though i did use bombs a lot so i don't really think it's that special.
i used two fairies that would increase from both colors, one that gave me a few seconds of invincibility after getting hit by a bullet, and a five-star fairy that, according to it's description, increases the level of all other units by 1 if possible. whatever that means. the first two i used to have a guaranteed source of damage, one for each color. the third and fourth though i primarily used for their high attack stat.
