In the central part of Indiana, we call this The Stationary Cha Cha. What's nice is that wherever you might be, the name of the dance might be different, but the steps are the same and that is good for people who travel to other places that dance. You will feel like you fit in. That doesn't always happen. Nice job teaching! Thanks and God Bless all who continue to partner dance. Line dance is fun, but dancing with a partner is too.
Here is a great pivot mini workshop video that my wife and I did. This is on our You Tube Channel..... I hope you can find it beneficial! th-cam.com/video/E7sq0G8A5ik/w-d-xo.html
The Whip (of which there are about 40 variations in WCS), could be compared to the pivot in Carolina Shag. Today patterns are used from various swings which is referred to as infusion. Customarily one should maintain the pattern of the originality. Unfortunately, very few dance instructors (often called teachers, yet they have no teaching license, nor teacher training) are actually qualified in the sense to teach. It's understandable because I have spent well over $10,000 (on 24 dances) over the past 20 years to become qualified.
T.K. and Mary Robinette were nice enough to teach several of us from Beaufort the $45 step many years ago at a dance in Charlotte. If I recall correctly, the person who taught the step to T.K. had paid someone $45 to teach the step to him. So, T.K. named it the $45 step. He adds a boogie walk to the end of the step which makes it look even better. I did not add that part since I have learned that teaching the boogie walk is best done in very small groups.
The audio is not synchronized with the video after a few minutes, for some reason. I always enjoy your shag instructional videos. Looks like you guys have a very fun Carolina shag Club. Keep up the good work! ;-)
Beaufort Shag Club - I have taught moves at my Cleveland Area Shag Club which I learned from your instructional videos. Very appreciative of them. I, too, have put some of my shag instructions up on TH-cam. If you search You Tube for Jimmy Flynn and Carolina Shag and Cleveland Area Shag Club, I'm sure you will find some of them. BTW, the move taught in this video was on one of Charlie and Jackie's earliest instructional Carolina shag tapes and they called it "Leg Up." All the best!
Here is another step that uses your beautiful cha cha step called The Entertainer..... named for Todd Bennington and The Entertainers band. Hope you enjoy this th-cam.com/video/ZcAeEZdZyRA/w-d-xo.html
Go to my page ballroomdancebuff or carl and joy Williams and check out the twistabout. This is a combination Joy and I threw together to incorporate a twist. It's call the twistabout. I'd love your feedback. Enjoy your club's vids

Hi. Thank you for all your great Carolina Shag videos. Why is this move called $45?

Excellent! Thanks.
This video has me confused. This couple sort of resembles Jackie and Charlie but it is not them??? what's up with this.
dwj20101 you are correct. it was the name they gave the step
Thanks for the excellent video. How about a demo of the "walk up"? No videos now exist.
Joy and I love your videos
That's also a rumba 5th position break
Charlie Wromble and Jackie Mc Gee?
