Fast Review - Breakaway Cannon / Trigger release for fixed spool reels
A review, in under a minute, of the Breakaway Cannon. This trigger release for fixed spool reels fits to your rod, just above the reel and in line with the rod rings. It can be used with mono or braid lines and enables powerful casts with fine line without needing a finger stall. Its well built and costs around £12 in the UK.

2 up 1 down glued fishing rig
มุมมอง 2.2K4 ปีที่แล้ว
A video showing how to tie and glue a 2 up 1 down fishing rig. In this knot tutorial, I show what's needed and how to tie a 2 up and 1 down fishing rig. This particular fishing rig is great for targetting bream as the light monofilament (mono) line trace, fluorocarbon (fluoro) line snoods, and the use of glued microbeads to hold the snood's swivels means it's less likely to spook the Bream. Giv...
Pulley bead and related terminal tackle comparison
มุมมอง 2K4 ปีที่แล้ว
In this Trusted Tackle Tips video, we compare pulley beads and similar terminal tackle. The comparison includes price, how wide apart the line is where it exits the beads (an indicator on how aerodynamic the rig will be), how the bead affects the line and whether or not it can be used in both a standard pulley rig or an up and over pulley rig. 0:00 Pulley bead and related terminal tackle compar...
Up and over pulley rig for Cod, Ray, Smoothhound, Bass
มุมมอง 25K4 ปีที่แล้ว
A video showing how to tie an up and over pulley rig. In this knot tutorial, I show what's needed and how to tie an up and over pulley rig. This particular fishing rig is great for nailing your bait to the sea bed and is my go-to rig for cod fishing from the shore. Being a clip down rig its great for casting big baits out a long way. Changing the hook is also easy as the pulley makes sure every...
Best braid to mono or flouro knot
มุมมอง 8694 ปีที่แล้ว
A short video showing how to tie the strongest fishing knot for tieing braid to mono or braid to flouro. In this knot tutorial, I show how to tie braided fishing line to either monofilament line to fluorocarbon line. The knot is stronger than the FG Knot and much less fiddly and is much easier to tie. Its tie and is extremely reliable particularly when saltwater fishing even on rough ground fro...
Best fishing knot for tieing braid to swivels and links

The knot is easy to tie and is extremely reliable particularly when saltwater fishing even on rough ground from piers, rocks and the beach. Thi...
Modified Snell knot for tieing circle hooks
มุมมอง 8584 ปีที่แล้ว
A short video showing how to tie a modified Snell knot. In this knot tutorial, I show how to tie a circle hook to a rig snood using a modified Snell knot. The knot for circle hooks needs to be tied around the hook shaft and exit the eye towards the hook point. This is so that when reeled in (you don't strike when using a circle hook) the hook point pivots in the correct direction and results in...
Movable stop knot to replace crimps and bait stops
มุมมอง 65K4 ปีที่แล้ว
A short video showing how to tie an easy and strong stop knot used instead of crimps or bait stops. In this knot tutorial, I show how to tie a moveable stop knot on monofilament or fluorocarbon line to act like a crimp or bait stop. The knot is easy to tie and is reliable particularly when saltwater fishing from piers, rocks and the beach. The advantage of using this type of knot, typically tie...

Do they go on to your reel?
Why two beads to one side of the pulley, rather than one either side?
This is NOT a pulley rig. It is an up and over running ledger, with an interesting alternative use of a pulley component, I also do like the use of the clear tubing
Would add additional value to an excellent video if you could just explain the purpose and benefits of this method of knot. What circumstances warrant it. When to avoid using it. Why are other knots inappropriate here.
Will this work on braid mainline
Sorry David, that’s not something I’ve tried. The only thing I tie to my mainline is either a clip or swivel to attach the rig to. I only ever use mono or flouro for my rigs.
There is a discussion here that may help though: www.worldseafishing.com/threads/stop-knot-for-braid-mainline.26790809/
Great video 😊
Boring
How would you have made it more exciting John?
is the clip upside dowm? should the weight be where you have attched the line?
Ha, that made me look :) I don’t think it’s upside down. If the line was tied on the other end you wouldn’t be able to attach the weight via the angled end of the clip.
What is the commonly accepted UK name of this knot. I appreciate knot names vary from country to country and in some cases even within depending on which channel.
Hi from NZ ,Bought some Gemini Pulleys and find them great Thank you for the presentation Clear and precise Have subbed you ,Tight lines
Clearest and easiest to follow videos on youtube. one question, what is the purpose of the silicone tubing on this rig?
It works a bit like a boom and keeps the trace away from the grippers on the lead weight. I’ve found the stiffer the tubing the better.
credit where its due that's one seriously strong stop knot 😳👍
No way are you ever a sea fisherman, not with those window dresser’s hands !!!
Lol. No I’m a software development manager by day :) However, having had a mackerel fishing session today , to fill the freezer with bait, I can say my hands stink and I’ve still got scales and guts under my nails :)
Great video! Thanks.👍👍👌
Very calm voice for the demonstration video, subscribed!
Just seen this as am going to start fishing with bigger baits for bigger fish. I’ve been tying all other rigs ie boom rigs, clip down etc but have researched others for the bigger species ie pulley and pulley dropper aswell as up and over. Although I’ve not used this rig yet I have to say I think it’s genius. Thanks very much for sharing this.
Excellent rig. Well explained thanks.
Great video . What are the beads and where to get them
Hi, I use Stonfo calibrated bore beads and I purchased them from: christchurchanglingcentre.co.uk/glue_products/glue_beads/stonfo-519-calibrated-bore-beads-en/
Pretty "Uniknot", nothing new and exciting, but well-presented.
My fave gp to rig 👍🏻
Where this knot is used?
at the very top of your floater rig
Thanks ! I appreciate it !!
Iv used this after seeing your video and can say it's definitely better than similar rigs like the pulley dropper or straight up and over. Best configuration iv seen
Thanks Glen.
Thank you👍🤣
I just tie 5 overhand knots (10 lb. test) right on top of each other, and clip both ends kind of close to the knot.
Thanx glad I subscribed
horrible audio
I’ll see what I can do to fix it.

@@TrustedTackleTips i did not hear any background noises, i was barely able to hear your voice because its rec very low by whatever you are using or maybe you need to adjust your settings ?thats what im saying when i say horrible audio
I don't agree that this knot can be trusted. I've had it slip right out.
It’s never failed me with braid, including full on pendulum casting with 7oz lead and big baits (for UK, North East Sea). . That said I’ve been trying the toit knot recently, for which the number of wraps has been tested and shown that too many can weaken the knot. I’ll produce my own video on it soon. In the mean time it’s worth checking out the worlds strongest knot on toit fishing’s channel.
Never failed me either despite that I don't pass line through the hook eye twice, just once. I agree knot without the tuck - ie the pass through the large loop - is a disaster waiting to happen - not IF but WHEN the knot fails. However, if the knot is tied correctly with that final tuck it will NEVER fail.. I use 5 wraps....
It failed me to with monofilament line and i lost a costly spinner because of it.
Far to fiddly theres a much simpler version
Please share Peter. Anything that makes tying knots simpler without impacting their reliability or benefits will help all of us.
Yep, come on Peter, talk is cheap pal.
Just a suggestion but you could maybe use a colour other than red as an attractor. Red is the first colour of light to be absorbed in water, in 5 ft of water it’s barely recognisable as red - in 10 ft of water no red light will reach your rig making your bead effectively black.
Had a pair of them for a couple of years - really like them.
Today is the first time I’ve heard about these. I’m definitely interested so you’d say it’s worth trying it?
@@kenkrayzee1382Buy one & give it a try. I love 'em. Increased my casting distance a bit too.
Good review. Fitted 2 rods with a Cannon a couple of years ago - great bit of kit. I fitted mine with cable ties - I didn't want sticky tape residue on my rod.
I tried similar on friday night, used to small pieces of neoprene tubing looped on twice same effect worked a treat. Also use as float stop.
Can also use elastic bands or just some old mono if desperate. I do find that neoprene tubing and elastic bands are harder to adjust though.
Nice. Thanks
Great Video and easy-to-follow instructions. Would this knot work to connect a tapered shock leader to a braided line.
I’ve used this knot with tapered shock leader and not had any issues. The shock leader was thicker than the mono though at the knot, which may factor into the reliability.
Just do an improved clinch knot with the braid doubled
So many knots, and everyone with their personal favourites :) I’m in the process of revisiting some of them following discovery of Toit fishing’s channel. Watch this space.
@@TrustedTackleTips i almost tie fishing knots for a living. I work part time selling high end tackle in New Zealand. Where we have game fish, 3x Marlin and swordfish. Also bluefin tuna, big eye and yellowfin, albacore and skipjack. Tons of light game and bottom fishing. After a lot of trial and error, we tie pr knots with a bobin for 80lb braid, all bright knot for 20 lb braid to trace. The simplest knot for braid to swivel is to double the braid and tie an improved clinch knot. Fast knot which tests at 90%.
Beautiful work🙏🏼👍🏼👍🏼
awesome video. i threw it a like. and a sub.
Thanks for the sub Michael.
Didn’t understand this one it’s a uni knot with 5 turns that get pulled out as you tighten
They do however have always found it ties easier with the first wraps, not sure why? Maybe something to do with the rubbery stretchiness of the power gum. Perhaps I’ll produce a video with and without the first wraps - what do you think ?
Excelent video!!!!! I'm not sure if the Breakaway proper pulley are capable of withstanding a powerful cast. The plastic part where the twinlink fits seems very small (diameter),maybe weak. What do you think about that?
7oz weight plus big bait is the most pressure I’ve put it under and it’s not failed on me yet, even with my rough but full on casting :)
Great videos Kevin. Well explained tutorials. Please continue with these videos as your instructions are crystal clear and quite detailed. You may have been disheartened by the lack of interest, but I think if you persist with the method you are using to demonstrate these "HOW TO" videos, you will soon see more people subscribing to your channel and liking your videos. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.👍
Thanks Chris. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Loving your channel.Interesting with circle hooks if you have the line from the back of the hook eye and out the front it aids in the mechanics of how they work and in theory improve hookups.
Thanks James. The way this knot is tied, the last step is to pass the line through the back of the eye to the front. As you say, circle hooks are only effective if this is done. Also need to remember not to strike and to just use a fast retrieve when you have a bite.
Awesome Knot that lads. Never failed me to date
Great Review, its what I wanted to see, I am going to try the Trident pulley, I'm just not sure if the figure 8 will lesson the bit detection as it has a bit more friction than the rest.
Hi great video and very helpful..Excellent What’s the name of the blue trace?.. Have subscribed as found easy to read and well put together especially on the white background.. thanks and tight lines..
Thanks for the feedback Michael. The line is called Blue Marlin and I believe is only available here : www.uk-hooks.com/details.php?selected=1770 (Note I’m not affiliated in anyway to UK hooks). I’ve found this line to be extremely reliable although I’ve only ever used the 70lb breaking strain version - which is a little overkill for the size of fish I tend to catch :)
@@TrustedTackleTips Thanks so much n keep up the good work.. 🎣
Excellent demonstration. Thanks (liked and subscribed). I look forward to more tips 👍🏻
Thanks for the sub!
Good video. Never tied a stop knot in my life but I know how now! Just need some Powergum. Thanks.
