they're such interesting looking owls with the coolest calls. They look like they're wearing really long turtlenecks or a snug hoodie lol.

"Shenanigans", you nailed it! Those birds are kooky. Have you heard em when they do that particular scream that sounds like a cross between bigfoot and a human? Scared the s%@t out of me.....

Very helpful- I saw something cross a neighbors driveway and this helps me identify it as a coyote.

I adore barred owls. I had a pair that nested in my front yard that used to fly down and sit with me when I gardened at night (it helps to have a spotlight in your yard lol)

The blue jays in the background are not amused. I did some barred owl calls recently to try and attract real owls and instead I drew in the wrath of some blue jays that mobbed me. I guess my calls are realistic.

We will be in our home and hear the barred owls calling in our wooded back yard. Our French Brittany (dog) especially hears their calls and has to go out and bark at them.

It reminds of the sound those monkeys make, whose necks swell out when they call. And some make a bass tone and some do a high sound on top exactly like the barred owls, growing in volume and woo-hooing at the top! Very exciting & terrifying at the same time!

We have a pair of these owls in our neighborhood. The male was in our pecan tree all day. He would exchange calls with his mate throughout the day. Fun to figure out what type of owl they were.

I have a huge tree in back of my house with two owl families. I love hearing them ❤️
