Collecting Ranunculus Seed to Grow More Flowers
Saving seed and collecting seed from flowers is an amazing way to increase your flower crops and flower production. It is cost effective, easy and fun to see what types of flowers are produced from the cross pollinated seeds.
One ranunculus flower may have produced a couple of hundred viable seeds. They are packed in very tightly to the elongated centre of the flower and once pulled apart you will see which seeds are viable and which are not. Viable seeds will have a darker spot in them - called the embryo. Seed that is not viable is an empty husk and will either not have an embryo or have un underdeveloped embryo or a non functioning embryo.
Buy Ranunculus Seed from me. $6 per packet. Available to be posted within Australia only (excluding Tas and WA im sorry!): nobleflowers.square.site/product/ranunculus-seeds-includes-standard-postage/145?cs=true&cst=custom

Lilac grove and plan for the vege and flower garden2
มุมมอง 1.3K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
A magical Lilac Grove exists within walking distance of our farm. It is gorgeous, smells divine and I had it all to myself for a couple of hours. I picked as many as I could carry home and made a beautiful short table arrangement as well as a larger taller table arrangement (which I gifted to my neighbour). I talk you through the plans and changes to the flower and vegetable farm this season. I...
Creating a floral installation for Pollinator Week in Australia
มุมมอง 1K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
A beautiful circular system exists between a flower, a bee and our food. The flower produces nectar, which is collected by the bee and goes on to produce honey. While collecting this nectar, bees also become covered in pollen and transfer this pollen as they move amongst the flowers. The transfer of pollen “pollinates” plants and leads to the production of more flowers, seeds and food for us to...
Playing with Fire - Controlled Burning our Paddocks for Summer Fire Season
มุมมอง 835หลายเดือนก่อน
Coming into fire season in Australia and we need to prepare. A typical way to control grasses and vegitation (what we call "fuel" for fires), is to do a controlled burn through a paddock, grasslands, bush and undergrowth. You will see the Country Fire Authority and Local Councils burning off public areas outside of fire season to try lessen the available "fuel" for fires. Roads will have traffi...

Ooh its so wet here now I've probably missed my opportunity to collect seeds
Enjoyed this beautiful spring vibes video! The birds singing near the start, so nice.
Ive planted ranunculus corms for the first time this Autumn (im in South Wales UK).....didnt soak them first....but no problem with lack of rain here!!...hope they look as beautiful as yours do.
Thank you, all of my mystery dahlias are up and growing, and I look forward to growing some of your lovely ranunculus flowers 💐
Did you get the heavy rain last night. As i had to keep sweeping the water from cominng to the back door. Take care love from Netty
Fantastic video. Thank you for sharing ❤
Thankyou!
Oooo love it!!!! 😍
Thanks Christy 🤍. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!
Beautiful job!!!
Thankyou Teresa 🤍
Phaedra, if you continue doing weddings try a company called Nisbets they are a catering company for restaurants. I know it sounds strange but I bought their trays to do my seeding growing, they were cheap. They have 50 compostable trays for $4.90 I think. They might do to put the foam in for your flower displays. What about using Queens Anne lace instead of gyp totally white and green. You have the same expectations on doing wedding flowers for customers as I have, they have to be perfect. I ordered my daughters wedding flowers from Tesselaars have a look at their range too. I’m not sure if they would deliver to you. Beautiful job Phaedra, well done ❤
Hi Marie! I have purchased from Tesselaar’s before , they are great. They will freight to us :) the trays sound good! I don’t grow QA lace anymore as it completely took over and I was worried the neighbouring farmers might complain if it popped up on their properties too 😬
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🤩🤩
Thankyou!!
Wow, you did such a great job. Beautiful flowers.
Thankyou!
SOOOOO gorgeous Phaedra!!!
Thanks Tina 💐
Beautiful flowers
So pretty and nice condition weren’t they 🤍
You've done a great job. Love all the flowers.
Thankyou!!
Beautiful! Great job Phaedra!
Thanks Liz!
That's how I roll up my extension cords, too.
Whoa I didn’t think of that!!!
@phaedragardeness great space saver!
Nice flower farming
Iv had a feverfew growing in a pot and it has never flowered. Will they not flower if its in a pot? The leaves are big and bushy, justn flowers for two years? Did I miss something in my care taking?
You are so welcome - I'm glad you have been able to purchase the poles! I just love you, your family and your videos - they keep me inspired!!
Thanks Tina 🤍
Consider having the things that need the most attention closest to your house. Things that are more self-sufficient go farther away. Also, visibility. Tunnels may need attention, but don't hide your fields behind them. I think you are on the right track! It needs to work well for you.
Thankyou Sara! All good points!
Hi Phaedra, your wreath came out beautiful! Loved seeing your kitty, she’s so sweet. I think you could get the lamp and even paint the base to match your other decor 😊 I agree with you on just doing the 2hot houses.. winter veggies… yay! Great video, God Bless you and family.
Thanks Teresa! She really is a cuddly little sweet cat 🐈. I probably should go back for the lamp!
Good idea Phaedra, keep everything close and assessable. Go on go back and get the lamp it’s your reward for all your hard work❤
I should have got the lamp but I’m guessing it would be sold now. I might call them Monday and ask about it.
Your plan sounds good. Less work and stress. You want to enjoy your garden and not get over burdened. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
That’s what I was feeling too. I wish I could manage it all but I’d rather be able to have the time to enjoy it and make a smaller space better and better
That wreath is gorgeous! Tunnel move/reduce plots sounds like a smart move. It’s starting to get almost too hot to garden much in SE Qld here so I am familiar with the plans having to wait for next year.
I spoke to someone last night about how hot it is up there. It never occurred to me in your climate there comes a point where it’s too hot to grow things! And I suppose starting little seedlings would just be too hard for them?
with some shade cloth perhaps
I agree with your plan, even though I am not experienced for you to take heed of any advice from me. I was just thinking, isn't also higher up away from your flood prone area? Also, I think I may have missed a video. What's the update with your cat? Wasn't she pregnant? As usual, love your videos. Thank you.
Hello! Yes thats a good point, higher up is out of the flood zone. That flood was apparently a once in 10yr flood so maybe we shouldn't worry about it too much? im not sure. The cat wasn't pregnant! no idea why she was so round when she first turned up though. x
Good morning Phaedra, watching from the sub tropical mid north coast nsw. 😊
hello! It's so pretty up your way! thanks for watching and leaving a comment :)
Love the big gorgeous dried flower wreath Phaedra, and your plan sounds great to me, go for it. Kind regards Joke from Holland.😘
Hi Joke! thankyou! Yes I think I will move forward with those tunnels. Im planning to go measure up today!
LOVE IT!
Thankyou!
Lilac remind me of the first live show I went to with my mother about 65 years ago it was called “Lilac Time and they had live lilac in the theatre I think it was the Regency in Melbourne but I have loved lilacs ever since .mine do not grow as well as I would like though I need to find a better spot for them or take some cutting and plant new ones (Dandenong ranges)l agree about the smell of clothes off the line can’t be beat good luck with the vegetable growing and the new garden design should look great
Oh wow that would have been amazing! What a cool way to create a memory!
The weather has been wonderful for drying clothes on the line. I have been busy moving plants around so that flowers can sit on the front porch. My only baby quail is growing so fast.I have potatoes growing and all my fruit is looking healthy. Have a safe and wonderful day love from Netty ..
Hi Netty! You have a baby Quail! How cute!!
@phaedragardeness yes and it's growing up very quickly
Beautiful video. Thank you for sharing such a lovely local shop and your amazing work of art with flowers!
Thankyou!
I am ordering a calendar for sure, Phaedra! Shipping all the way to Texas! Even with your changes to the channel and with life in general, we are here. We tuned in because of you, family, gardening, flower sales and life. Do not feel you have to apologize at all for a different direction. ❤
Hi Liz! Thankyou so much, you are sweet 🤍. With the calendar, there is an option to purchase one that is shipped from the US! You’d get that one much sooner than the one that ships from Australia (unless you want mail from Australia!).
Sounds great Phaedra. Definitely build your own shed I got a small flat pack, one from Bunnings, apart from the high cost it was a nightmare to put together and that’s putting it mildly. The screw holes don’t match some holes we had to drill again and you need a degree to read the instructions. I followed the video with my daughter putting it together with me.
Oh yikes, I’m glad you let me know Marie. I’ve been thinking about it but I’ll build one instead. It would annoy me paying good money for something with issues like that!
What type of snake are you on the lookout for, and has a spider ever fallen out of your shoe?
Yes we have had spiders in shoes! The main types of snakes we have here are red belly black, brown and tiger snakes 🐍
I’ve been using your net tying method since you demonstrated it last time, but couldn’t find it again to say thank you for sharing the technique. It makes storing nets so easy!
Im glad you like it!! Im going to put up a little short about it too for quick reference :)
Oh Phaedra!!! Such a beautiful video!!!! Oh those Lilacs and your pretty outfit and shots. Thanks for sharing.
Thankyou that’s nice of you to leave this nice message!
Ooh will you start doing courses at some point
Hi Margaret! What course topics are you hoping for? I’m in the process of writing one about photographing flowers 💐
Good morning Phaedra, thanks for sharing. Your lilacs are stunning. I'm in the sub tropical mid north coast nsw. Today I'm going to be propergating hydrangeas. Have a blessed day. 😊
I love hydrangea! I bet they propagate really well up there!
Amazing production 😊
Thanks Suzanne 🙂
i love how u are the opposite... here snow will start soon.. makes me dream of spring again xxx montreal canada
I love it too! It means plenty of content for us in our winter too!
I have planted the mystery pack of Dahlias I purchased from you and very excited that so far 4/10 are up 🥰. I will be interested to see what veggies you plant also 🥰
Oh yay! Thankyou for purchasing from me!! It’s exciting to get a surprise!
I spend so much time in my garden 'rescuing' bees, from webs, my greenhouse, water in containers etc etc or not picking a flower cus a bee is asleep inside 😂
I always look out for them too 🤍. Such sweet little hard workers.
Thanks ❤❤❤
Hi Phaedra, I love going to Beechworth. Adele’s dad has bee hives and I get free honey from him, delicious honey. Boxes and display looks great. My garden is full of bees thank goodness hooray to our bees❤. Just a question did you get any of your ranunculus seeds to produce corms. Mine were c..p I threw the lot out, waste of time and space.
Oh no! Most of my ranunculus seed produced corms! They are very tiny in their first year though, I’m wondering if you could have thought they were roots by any chance? I leave them in the same seed trays for 2 seasons!
One of my daughters neighbours is really into native bees. She’s a phenomenal human and works to save as many misplaced hives as she can. (So many in the water meter boxes on footpaths) I am always thrilled to see the native bees in my flower beds. I try and grow as many purple flowers as I can because I’ve heard it’s the colour they’re most attracted to.
They do love blues and purples! How awesome is your daughters neighbour!
Love Love Love...your channel and your career has pivoted so nicely...and you did such a lovely job on your display piece - How inspiring!
Oh that’s so sweet of you thankyou so much! Still not sure where I’m headed though!
Beechworth is a very pretty and I love the lolly shop and the bakery..
Such a cute town isn’t it. Heaps to do there too
Thanks for always watching Netty 🤍
Thankyou so very much for sharing this beautiful store in Beechworth. Bees are so forgotten and most people don’t realise that without bees our food supply would be almost non existent. This past year I have been learning about beekeeping with my mentor, visiting his hives and caring for his bees. Finally 3 months ago our first colony of honey bees arrived on our own property and now live in our apiary planted full of the flowers bees need for protein. The bees are flying around our flower and strawberry farm from flower to flower and watching them go back to their hive loaded with pollen has been my dream come true. In December our swarm of native stingless bees will arrive from Canberra, we already have solitary stingless bees here but I wanted a colony so that the small bees can reach in and pollinate my smallest flowers. The proof of a bees value in food production is being able to already pick 7 zucchinis from our vegetable garden. It’s going to be a buzzy season for us x
Oh wow that sounds amazing!! It sounds like you are doing such a great job creating sustainability on your farm 🤍🤍🤍
I especially loved the chair 🪑 “ a seat reserved “ 😂👏 ❤ Even though the last picture was gorgeous with all the stunning Dahlias surrounding your feet, None of those in that picture is good for pollinators since they cant get to the center or the flower doesn’t contain any pollen… I know you know this 😘 perhaps it doesn’t belong in this video - but I always appreciate pictures of delicious stunning gorgeous Dahlias 🥰 Can I just say that your display turned out beautiful 😍 ❤
Hello! Bees love dahlias! They are attracted to their bright colours. Unless you pick every single one early before they fully open, many will open to show their centres and the bees can get in 🤍. So leave some on the plant to fully open! The final scene was from when I photographed every dahlia I owned, so they were picked before they blew open 💐
Beautiful work Phaedra, and what a great shop. I love bees and of course honey!!!!!!! 80% of my flower garden is for the bees. Kind regards Joke from Holland.
Hi Joke! That’s awesome you are so aware of the bees!!
