I will NEVER own a home. I went to Texas Tech from 1980-91 working on my education. My husband died in 1989. No life insurance. Finished degree, moved back to Fayetteville NC because my parents were old. I lived in apartments. Apartments keep going up. Cannot save for a down-payment AND pay ALL my bills. Never remarried. My parents house was $18,000 in 1964 and it was appraised in 2014 for $71,000, that's about 4 times the amount it originally sold for. But that's 40 years. However, TODAY... a coworker and her husband bought a house for $220,000 and put $40,000 down making it $180,000. 7 years later...JUST 7, there were houses being built in her neigborhood. Out of curiosity, when there was open house, she went into one that had the exact floor plan as hers. She said it was being sold for $320,000, in just 7 years, it went up $100,000!!!!! WTH??!! America is a Capitalist country that I do not want to live in anymore. I lived in Lubbock from 1975-1996, 21 years, and moved back to NC. How? HOW does a house in NC go up $100,000 in just 7 years??!! I am a school teacher and the amount we are paid, I will NEVER own my own home. It makes me cry. My rent went up $500 in 2 years, ($250 a year). Real Estate is a money grubbing job. I am 69 years old and can't even afford to retire. I predict in about 5-6 years, I will be living in my car. Have to be a member of a gym that has showers. Sale my car and get a van that will cost MORE THAN MY PARENTS $18,000 HOME!!! I am thinking about moving to Thailand or South Korea just so I won't have to live in a van. But research shows me that, that's my only alternative. Problem, I won't know anyone there.

Coming from a big city, Lubbock is boring but its charm comes from the nice people that live here and they have at least one of everything, (walmart, target, starbucks, Ross, Marshall, Dillards, HEB, United, etc.). Its sucks. I was trapped there for 11 years. It's not diverse at all. Most people grow up there and they don't know anything beyond what they can see and they have no Ambitions to leave and they are xenophobic against anyone who's not from texas. I'm not even black but I was discriminated against like I was even though I have a German last name and I look as white as everybody else. There is no opportunity there and everything is one way and if you don't fit that way then there's no place for you in Lubbock so don't listen to this guy because he's trying to sell you something. The only reason he's saying positive things is he's got something to gain by saying these things. The crime rate is through the roof it is ugly and boring there and unless you're a retiree and you don't ever leave the house or your college student there's nothing there for you

I grew up south of Lubbock. My dad was a farmer. We shopped in Lubbock and attended church there all throughout my childhood. Would like to see this video redone with actual footage of the places, parks and people you talk about. You seem to know how to put together a good video, but please consider getting some actual footage instead of relying on stock footage. I think it would give your audience a better idea of what to expect. Some of your footage actually showed people on a beach??? I know you're not from the area because you say "Lubbick" (cringe) instead of "Lubbuck" which is the pronunciation that natives use. I would think you would want to appeal to the native Texans from surrounding areas as well as people from other parts of U.S. who might be moving here by pronouncing the name of the town correctly. The stock footage use seems really lame when it's so easy to just film on location easily. I didn't watch any other of your videos but wanted to make these suggestions. You can take them or leave them. good luck

Also something to note, there is actual footage of texas tech university, holly hop ice cream shop, science spectrum, fore golf, you cant really get footage of kids in a classroom nowadays --they probably frown upon that (even in LUBBICK) and its hard to find/film a perfect local video for everything when you are a busy and successful realtor.

Very informative video! I’ve watched a lot of your videos about Lubbock as I am considering of attending Texas Tech University of Health Sciences Center for Physical Therapy school. The way Lubbock is described as a big city with a small town feel and with it being a college town kind of reminds me of Davis, California. A college town, small town and not too from Sacramento.

Grew up in Lubbock, left in '85, now in Austin. The two biggest cons of living in Lubbock has to be the sand storms and the fact that Lubbock is perpetually 20 years behind in just about everything.

@@goalsfirst2895 I live in Lubbock.. I don’t feel that it is too dangerous although stats do say otherwise .. I think it depends on what part of town you’re in. My car has been rummaged through and i live in a middle class neighborhood -but I obviously feel it’s safe enough to leave my car door unlocked haha .. I’ve heard sex trafficking is kind of bad here , but again that’s everywhere .. overall I’d say I feel safe here
