In this this video I show how you can take a dull knife and bring back an edge with low grit compounds. You can obtain a cutting edge with just 400 grit diamond compound on a leather strop. I also move up to 600 and the 8,000 grit. These compounds are from Tech Diamond Tools. If you have seen the video on the 50,000 and 100,000 grit compounds you can see the amount of time and higher grits will keep refining the edge. I try to show all of the methods and sharpening products as possible. I have stated in the past not everyone has the same skill level and the budget for some of them. This shows you can produce an edge with just compounds a leather strop and patience. Some forget what the knife is being used for and straight razor refinement is not necessarily required. All levels of sharpness I have shown will send you to the ER if you slip. I made a trip their myself in 1988.
