I was from Piedmont, CA. We had about 15 entries in the 1952 San Francisco Soap Box Derby. We all made our cars in the wood shop across the street from Piedmont H.S.. I'm Leslie Bell. I live in Deptford, NJ now at age 79. I often think back to the time I build that 1952 Soap Box Derby race car. I lost my first SF heat to Mickey Mynsted by a photo finish. I SURE WISH I HAD THAT PIC???

I Raced against Mickey Mynsted in the San Francisco 1952 Soap Box Derby on my first heat---HE WON by 2" in a photo finish-He had the good lane 3=I had lane one with pot holes and wash boards. I always think back=If only I had lane 3 I coulda been in his shoes? Oh well so much for fate and karma lol=I often wonder if anyone had the pic of the photo finish?? Whoa, I remember Stan on KCRA and KOVR when I was a young kid in the early to mid 90s. Seemed like a nice man, and this shows he must have a pretty good sense of humor to have done this too, lol.
