HF Predator 3500 noise comparisons vs Yamaha EF2000
Yamaha:
The Yamaha is slightly quieter at idle
Once a simple Halogen light is plugged in the noise level increases significantly.
About half the weight of the 3500
Will not run camper AC
Running basic tv and a few lights revs pretty high even with eco mode on.
HF Predator 3500:
The HF 3500 is slightly louder at idle but does not change much if all when halogen is plugged in.
I’ve only ran this generator for 5 hours and it will run my 15,000 BTU camper AC flawlessly.
Pretty heavy but not unmanageable for a healthy strong backed man.
My wife would not be able to unload from a truck bed safely.
Only con: the wheels vibrate quite a bit which I will address with a rubber mat or upgraded wheels.
I bought the upgraded NKG plug and will change oil/clean spark arrestor after break in.
I’m hopeful this generator will last a long time.

7.3 Powerstroke Diesel Cold Start. I don’t plug this truck in during winter. Ambient temps were 17 degrees today. I let the glow plugs cycle twice. Trucks been sitting for two weeks thought I’d get the fluid moving for a bit. Truck is for sale in Utah!

02 Ford 7.3 Cold Start 220,000 miles stock injectors. Not plugged in, sat all night in 10-15 Degree's F. No smoke no problems- Keep it maintained and it will start fine!

    If your going to rebuild a stock turbo get a KC turbo balanced assembly.

    Riding in a 2018 3500 right now with this shudder in 1-2 and 2-3 when I found this video. The dealer says this is a normal operation for these trucks. Makes me wonder if they even looked for a TSB or reflash file... Great video tho, appreciate it

      My 68rfe had to be rebuilt at 68k towing 4500 pounds with it.... and it took them 3 months to do it. Now at 74k miles its stuck in 4th.

      We bought a Ford. In a panic stop situation going over 45mph, the damn thing would fishtail practically out of control. Happened over and over again. Had the service manager test it out and he got the same result and his answer to me was, ‘Wow…that’s serious.” You think‽!! I’ll never buy a Ford product again.

      I bought a ford f350 last year had severe death wobble every time i hit a bump over 50mph or those steel dividers that are in between the bridges and highway almost got into an accident a couple times because of that. Of course a few months later I notice the upper oil pan leaking which is another common problem look it up you'll see it all over forums the robots don't put enough silicone on the corners of the oil pan. No problem just a few bolts and the pan drops right? nope need to remove the entire transmission thousands of dollars just to reseal an oil pan. traded the truck in at around 50k miles have a cummins now I think its hit or miss with ford or ram I wish Toyota made a 1 ton diesel with a cummins.

      PHP Programer, Riff Raff Intake, and exhaust. I made this video shortly after installing the GT38R Turbo but in my opinion the bigger turbo pushing more volume reduced the amount of smoke at the tailpipe, which I personally liked better.

    Same thing happened to my 18 3500 with 3300 miles on it never towed anything and they had to replace the trans . They were saying it’s so uncommon for the Aisins to go bad . Only time they ever replace them is on the ambulances with over 400,000 on them . Good trans for towing shit for driving unloaded .

      Yeah Pretty much. I will say though since upgrading trucks camping trips are much more..... Peaceful! lol Exhaust and turbo whistle are fun around town but Load up the wife, 3 kids, 2 dogs and a four hour drive and it will take it out of you.

      Tough Call Buddy. I would say just drive them both and make your decision. Ford will get you up the hill Faster. Ram will save you a few penny's at the pump but its honestly negligible unless your a hot shot trucker. Only reason I buy Ram is in my opinion the exhaust brake when loaded in unmatched by Gm and Ford. I run a 42' Camper with SXS in the back and the stability and ability's to hold speed descending on a grade without me having white knuckles is how I based my decision.

    2019 Ram 3500 does the same thing from 2nd to 3rd in tow/haul mode with a loaded horse trailer. (12,000lbs) It did this the first time I hauled, 500 miles on the truck. It has been to ram 3 times now and no change. It is probably worse now without the trailer. not sure what to do, I am getting frustrated to say the least. These trucks are not cheap and I don't feel as though my issue is getting the attention that it should.

      Sorry to Hear that buddy. Luckily I was in and out in about 10 Mins with the software flash. In its nature the AISIN is a harder shifting transmission than say a 68RE, But this was shaking the whole truck and me when shifting. Hope you find a solution. I ran my 2018 for 30k more miles after reflash without any issues.

      After the Software Update she was good to go. Ran the truck till about 50K Then bought a new one.

    New Subscriber here , 2015 ram 3500 single cab dually 4x4 aisin transmission went up in smoke last year 250 degrees 51000 miles Slammin gears warranties are good things to have with these trucks

    My 2018 3500 started doing that at 4k miles. Brought it back to the dealer and they couldn't figure out the issue. They ended up throwing a new valve body in it. At 9k now, the truck is doing it again. How many miles do you have on the truck now after you got it reflashed?

      I had a similar problem with same truck. Just got software updated and it fixed my problem. I’ve put a thousand or so miles on it since and works great. Thanks for the video

      Your not gonna see any gainz without tuning and larger injectors

      I called my tuner PHP and they said that there are no specific tuning changes required with the turbo. I was on stock sticks.

      No new issues with the transmission? Because I just got one, less than 600 miles but no towing yet. How is that you did not see this software issue before? Did it happen after you started towing heavy stuff ?

      David Maldonado No new issues all is well since the flash. I didn’t see it needed a software update because it was shifting perfect, then out of nowhere just started to lug into gear. Sounds like it may be a pretty common issue based on my phone conversation with the dealer.

      David Maldonado Yeah I hear ya.. I’d love to say I miss my Old 7.3 Powerstroke with less electronics, but In reality these newer trucks are night and day on towing capacity and safety.

    Shoot my 2500 with the 68rfe makes some funking ass noises and movements too. I’m looking at getting a one ton with the Aisin. Love a Cummins for sure. Tows my camper across the country a lot.

      I had a 2017 ram 2500 with the 68. I bought it new. Traded it with 65000 miles because that trans. And the rest diff. I was not pleased at all and dodge wouldn’t touch it.

      @steve Arrington The problem is I haven’t seen any one truck stand out. The price point on these Rams for a work truck is unparalleled. Was this issue somewhat annoying yes! Would I have had a similar problem with Ford or Gm? Hard to say. We’re back on the road and I do like the way this Cummins pulls thus far.

      I have the same problem with my Ram. Dealer said it's normal and there's nothing they could do about it. Were you able to get yours fixed? If so what was the problem.

    JUST PUT MINE IN 1 MONTH AGO, ITS EXPENSIVE , ITS VERY LOUD AND A ANNOYANCE, VERY EASY INSTALL, MADE MY EGT GO UP 150 TO 200 DEGREE'S PULLING COMPARED TO STOCK SO NOW IM CONCERNED WITH A MOTOR WITH 500 K IT WILL SHORTEN ITS LIFE OR CAUSE PREMATURE SERVICE PROBLEMS BECAUSE OF THE HIGHER EGTS PULLING

      allyn bubolz I wonder why your EGTs went up? That’s one of the main benefits I saw on mine, egts went way down compared to stock. Do you have upgraded injectors? What’s your mods?

    Yes the ride is pretty harsh, I just installed helwig big wig air bags and sulastic shackles. The sulastic shackles improved the unloaded ride greatly. I would highly recommend them for your truck if you spend alot of time in it.

      Mine are holding up so far, I've been told to keep the salt off as much as possible so it doesn't deteriorate the rubber components.

    How did you turn up the boost up I can't get more than 14 psi

      Built for The Wild This turbo tends to run at lower boost levels than stock. That being said I can get the turbo to 26 PSI if I lay into it. Maybe check for boost leaks and make sure your waste gate is operating correctly and not letting off early.

      After a little Time I did fall in love with it. I am realizing I never made a follow up video I will do that tomorrow. I have the HPX kit which connects the oil on the heads. I think because had to remove that line to install the turbo I introduced some Air into the heads effecting my performance. After a few days the truck ran great!

      Yes It has the stock transmission. It was rebuilt at 100K with the ford heavy duty trans. No slippage or issues whats so ever. I will say I baby the truck pretty well and almost never hot rod.
