Stanford Medicine Alumni Day 2024 Keynote: Curtis Langlotz
The Stanford Medicine Alumni Association's Alumni Day is a day where we welcome you back to the Stanford Medicine campus for a day of celebration with our vibrant alumni community of medical and bioscience graduates. We hope you enjoy the inspiring faculty presentations as we explore this year’s theme-Medicine and Machines.
The keynote "Artificial Intelligence: Redefining the Future of Medicine" is presented by Curtis Langlotz, ’81, MS ’83, MD ’89, PhD ’89. Dr. Skylar-Scott is a member of the Basic Science and Engineering Research Initiative at the Betty Irene Moore Children’s Heart Center and a Chan Zuckerberg Biohub investigator. His lab focuses on scaling up 3D bioprinting technologies, with applications in cardiac tissue engineering to cure congenital heart defects. His approaches emphasize scaling stem cell production and differentiation and tissue vascularization and maturation to bring tissue engineering from the petri dish to kilograms of viable and functional organs. He received the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award and an ARPA-H Award to develop new 3D printing hardware, wetware, and software to accelerate cardiovascular tissue engineering. He earned a master’s from Cambridge and a PhD from MIT.

Dr. TASS has been talking about these vibrating gloves for years and showing the same miraculous videos of the same individuals before and after for years. Meanwhile nothing has come to the marketplace nor any tentative FDA approval issued. This is in spite of the fact that these gloves are simple medical devices, not invasive, nor internally ingested drugs. If they really worked, then it should be a no-brainer to get FDA approval. My neurologist, a very prominent and well-known movement disorder disease specialist, has told me point-blank that this gloves treatment is a scam and hype.

The content is repeated many times in their other videos. No further development or update seen. Hope they are really working on it. This being a non-invasive therapy, involving no chemical or biological intake into the body, should rapidly pass through all approval stages. Don't understand why it is taking several years when Covid vaccines without long term testing can get emergency approvals and come in the market within an year !

What a remarkable woman! I'm not in medicine or academia, so pardon me if I just heard her name today. I watched a segment of 60 Minutes Australia about Elizabeth Holmes of Theranos. The reporter interviewed Dr. Pyhillis Gardner. Her answers, together with her body language, intrigued me! She was obviously smart, funny, and witty, and took no nonsense for an answer😂. The interview made me want to know more about her. It must be my lucky day that the first video that I clicked was this mini-biography of her. Thank you, uploader.🙏

Omg I did the exact same thing 🤣 I legit just finished watching it. Before the Prof came on, at the start, Holmes was giving some background on the sociopath at the centre of this 60 minutes story and when she mentioned that scum was 19 I just stopped (fluttering about between the lounge and kitchen) looked at the tv and said “19?!” And I kept finishing each of Holmes sentences with “at 19....” then Holmes introduced professor Gardner and the start talking the prof finished a sentence of describing the scum with “at 19”... I Laughed and said (to no one) ‘she’s awesome I wanna adopt her’ (as my new aunt lol). Then I saw your comment and revelled in the knowledge ‘I’m not the only one’! I want to say ‘don’t worry I’m not crazy but’... Although, To be fair I’m a Victorian and I may be suffering something I’ll dub ‘lockdown lunacy’

I did see the interview she did with 60 Minutes as you did, and as a person (male) who has expertise in medicine and science (MD/PhD) I find her her bluster and self-promotion to be somewhat unfortunate for someone in her position. I am not nor ever have been impressed in any way, by this woman and if there is a club like the "old boys club', she's part of the "Old Broads Club". Her reference to the "old white guys" thinking with the "small head" (she didn't say this but inferred it) when investing with Holmes and Theranos seems to suggest that somewhere along the line in her life, she may not have been the first girl standing along the wall that guys would ask to dance, and the jealousy related to Holmes seeped out. I just saw her comments as being beneath a woman who claims such medical, scientific and moral underpinning of her character. She's an "old broad" with old, standard archaic ideas of medicine and business, that's all I get from her, in spite of being at a progressive institution such as Stanford.

Chick from "7 reasons the covid 19 vaccine was developed so quickly" They blocked comments there so this will work! You didn't include the fact the same people that will make or have made 10s of billions of dollars from the tax payers in America to develop the vacine are the actual ones that created the virus! So 2002 sars virus is 90 percent the same except the little tweak in a lab of making it more spreadable in population.changing criteria and altering data to suit an agenda of deviance! But the top reason the best , the convenience of being able to implement new rules in a game of election influence and controll of the massas!
