Cheap Charlie hotel
Is that a recommendation? Ive heard there is a hotel called that?
It's run down but cheap the food is just ok
Tbank you for your comment. There is so many places to eat around that area that we never have eaten at the Opey de Place
Yes seems a good run of the mill place, not far from the action!!...and cheap enough. I've been coming to Pattaya for 30 years on/off now. Never had a problem with cheaper hotels. For those who want luxury...north Pattaya 4000+ baht a night well out of the action 🤣🤣🤣.(Lowe de khun).
It really is true that often thise oaying more miss the best bits. In Agra i datyed many times in a hotel that was £5 per night. True it was quite scruffy, but itbwas right next to tge Taj Mahal. You could even sleep on the roof and watch the sunset come up over the Taj. The lucury, expensive hotels were not even in view of the Taj and had no view of the Taj. Cheaper places can often be more quirky, fun and are run by families that care. I love the Opey de Place personally
Cheap travellers always complain about this and that
Just saying it like it is. From what ive seen its the wealthy travellers that seem to complain the most
Good review, nothing better than a straight forward no nonsense and realistic opinion of a hotel!
Thank you. Its lovely to get positive comments
Definitely visit the surrounding areas of Pattaya, like Jomtein, Phratamnak, Wongamat, Naklua, East Pattaya, Bang Saray, Bang Sean, Rayong! So much more to Pattaya than the obvious central Pattaya!
I totally agree. There is nothing we like more than renting a motorbike and exploring all around Pattaya and along the coat both ways
If you Wikipedia Pattaya it tells you where the name comes from Krap Pom
Thank you for your comment
great video, I get around by motorcycle taxi, they usually know what they are doing .
Thanks for the comment. Its so nice being in a country which has a multitude of ways to travel around
Great video chaps, ive been going to Pattaya for over 20 years , it has everything for everybody. Keep up the good work

I stayed there a couple of years ago when my regular hotel wasn't available and I had to temporarily find a different hotel room. The room was very clean and had a nice comfortable bed and good AC. The only con I can think of is the power outlets were only 2 prong (and my computer only used 3 prong adapter). Other than that, it was a good place with a good budget price (about 650 Baht).
Thanks for sharing!
So are there hotels in the area equipped with British style 3 prong plugs. We alwaya moan about the Thai ones and the adapters falling out
Put up the places that are better and cheaper !!!
I will do that very soon
Good location but in need of renovation and be prepared to get eaten alive buy the pool with all that greenery
Thank you for your comment. You are right the location is fantastic, but I have never found insects around the pool to be any problem at all. In most off Thailand mosquitos only seem to be a problem for about 30 mins to an hour around the time of dusk
Used to stay there but got fed up getting bitten also the showers are crap
When I am roaming the streets of Soi Buakhao for the grannies, this is where I stay. Stay at the new units they are more modern and brighter, the older units are a bit dingee.
Totally agree. Thanks for the comment.
Nice review. It’s a nice room in a good area. We just booked
Have fun! You will have an amazing time in Thailand

Good job, I first went to Bangkok 1997.. just about Internet cafes, no phones, wonderful, remember the snooker club
Hello. Thanks fir your comment. 1997 was when i first went by accident. I was travelling in India and thought id try Thailand for a break. I fkew into Bangkok. No guidebook or lonely planet, no planning. A total adventure. However despite all the changes Bangkok and SE Asia in general is still wonderful in so many ways
@@hiddenworldjohnandindie8293 its still a wonderful place.. no more opportunity for everyone

Fantastic vid guys keep them coming, can you find out the rates ,that would be a good help…..from uk
Thank you for your comment. What rates are you asking about?
@@hiddenworldjohnandindie8293 sorry i mean money rates £1 to Thai Baht currency because it’s always more in the country that your in,
I have been staying here for years. Its all about the location and the pool. The Thai food is also decent.
I genuinely like it. Thanks for your comments and hope you keep watching the channel

The location is prime. The pool is very nice. The internet is bad, very slow, I was court 3. The restaurant is good too. Laundry service is very close by too.
Thank you for your comment. Sutus Court is not the most luxurious and has its faults, but the location is fabulous. If you have time check our vlog and review of th-cam.com/video/InuoJQxZNjQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NfJXmA-_yoDMdpHM which is just around the corner. Have a great evening
Not for me, better hotels to be had at a similar price, 3/5

It truly is lovely. Feels like it has a charm lost in Britain
poipet is not in thailand. poipet is in cambodia side. when you cross the border from poipet, you will be in =aranyaprathet in thailand.
Thank you for making this clear. If you watch the video through to the end you will see we go through the border into Thailand and our follow on video coming soon has more on this. Thank you for your comments and hope you have a happy time in bith Cambodia and Thailand
What time of day did you cross the border? I crossed there end of december and i had to wait 4 hours to get into Thailand. So surpriced to see there are so few people.
It was around 5 30pm. However i have been through many times previously and it was not really that much busier. I think its avoiding speaking to the wrong windows that helps. Others were sitting around as they had mistakenly got their visas done befoee the actual border post with agencies on the thai siee that claim to be official border services.
Its a dire kip .Be honest .
Actually we didnt go to bed before until 2am moat nights so hardly noticed the noise. The back rooms are well away from the street so woukd be better, but i enjoyed sitting on the balcony with the son going down watching the scenes below.
Siem Reap... Looks busy at night!
In the centre it was very busy at night. But most Asian cities do get busy at night and come alive as it gets cooler when the sun goes down
Seems like Indie enjoyed it (except for the snakes)! I found interesting that you said the rural areas haven't developed much in 25 years. I may have missed this, but do you know what the nets are for? I see nets along the river, almost forming a lane or fence. They don't look like they are for fishing. Just curious. Thanks !
Im pretty sure the nets are just hung up by the fisherman so that they can see where they beed repairs. It is hard to imagine being in Europe but many of ghe scenes seen in the countryside are probably the same as 100 years ago. We both commented that unless you are in these areas its hard to believe that in the modern world they exist. Unfortunately it seems from our travels that rather than being in a minority, the majority of people in the world live in extreme poverty like this. It would seem that the story is the same from Asia to Africa that its actually the governments and richer governments of the world that actively cause this, rather than inprove it. One of the reasons I like to take Indie on these travels is for him to have a great awareness and education of what the real workd is really like and we do fhe vlogs hooing that it may enkighten others to whats out in the world and inspire more oeople to travel with their kids. What constantly amazes me is despite the poverty and things that have happened in Cambodia, people are so kind, gentle and friendly. Just as a footnote Indie is not scared of much, but definately is not keen on snakes. But then there are Cobras all across Cambodia.
I wouldnt describe it as a "best kept secret" , most pattaya visitors are familiar with this place
Im sure if you have been to Pattaya a number of times alot of hotels would become familiar. But for someone coming for the first time it might be a good option
Nothing specific stayed there myself definitely no hot water good position for night life but definitely not worth the price.. I stayed a month ago was annoyed no hot water and average rooms we'll worn
We were lucky and had plentiful supplies of hot water.. Maybe that one room had a problem. I hope you enjoyed your holiday anyway
@@hiddenworldjohnandindie8293 Room was balcony room and shower and hot water were nil.. As for hotel room and price around 1000 Bhatt I payed average hotel.. Put it this way been back a few times in the area never stayed there again and reception staff were very off it very unpleasant looks.
Hi ❤ love from🇵🇰 Pakistan your all vlog best❤🎉
Thank you for the very kind comments. Hopefully we can come to Pakistan some day soon
Cheap & Cheerful is all you can say about this place, I like alittle more comfort myself- some people aren’t bothered where they stay I guess
Its clean enough. Just needs a bit of an update
Room over looking pool better too noisy on front
Its fine if you are out late at night
Thanks for the video. I cancelled my booking after your video and few google reviews
Thanks for your comments. I hope you found somewhere better and enjoyed your holiday. Did you just stay in Phuket?
Gosh, that's not bad for $20. You got a nice bathroom, shower and a bed. Outside you have a pool and a full service restaurant. I think for me at least, if I go there, I don't plan to be in the room too much ;) So, a small room is fine. Is it central to the sights and touristy things in Phnom Penh?
Hello Jose. Thanks for your comments. I say the hotel is perfectly situated in Phnom Penh. Its not a huge city and is easy to get around on either a hired motorbike, tuk tuk or motorbike taxi. The area around the vicinity of the hotel also has some nice bars and restaurants. Have fun on your trip and let us know how it goes.
Stayed in that block of hotel last june, 650 bahr per night, basic but cheap, great pool though. Central location
The location is perfect. Have stayed there many tikes despite my negative comments in the review
❤❤thank you

We loved exploring Phnom Penh when we were there recently, such a bustling town! We actually were down some of the roads you were as well around Tuol Sleng!
Great place. Its changed alot over the years, but many things have stayed the same
I stayed there and it was good. That balcony rail is way too low though. Did you try the food ordered by the pool?
Had some food, which was ok but have so many options in that area that we ate out mainly. Totally agree about the balcony although i liked seeing over it easily, i could see it being dodgy for someone who was drunk or young kids.
