Final Fantasy XVI has been described as the Ultimate Final Fantasy by the father of the series, Hironobu Sakaguchi, himself. However, some fans of the franchise have voiced that FF16 is not a "true" Final Fantasy, but I beg to differ. FFXVI is a love letter to the franchise, it tackles similar topics from its predecessors, has iconic mascots like a moogle and eikons, but what Final Fantasy 16 does that makes it different to the entire series, is the destruction of crystals, the most if not most important symbol of Final Fantasy.
