History&Evolution of GPUs: From 2D Graphics to AI Powerhouses! |MAS Byte #TechHistory #gpus #nvidia
Hey tech enthusiasts! Welcome to MAS Byte! In today's video, we’re diving deep into the fascinating history and evolution of graphics processing units, or GPUs. From their humble beginnings in the 1980s to becoming the powerhouses driving today's most advanced technologies, GPUs have come a long way. Let's take a journey through time and explore how GPUs have transformed from simple 2D graphics chips to essential components in gaming, professional graphics workstations, AI, and more.
The Early Days The story of GPUs begins in the 1980s. At that time, graphics processing was quite simple, limited to 2D graphics chips used in arcade games and early personal computers. These basic chips were responsible for rendering simple graphics, mainly sprites and basic shapes. Companies like Intel and Texas Instruments were among the first to develop these early graphics solutions, setting the stage for the future of gaming and visualization.
The 1990s Revolution In the 1990s, the gaming industry saw a monumental shift with the introduction of 3D graphics. This era marked the birth of dedicated 3D graphics cards, fundamentally transforming how games were developed and played. Companies like NVIDIA, founded in 1993, and ATI (now AMD), founded in 1985, were at the forefront of this revolution. NVIDIA's RIVA 128 and ATI's Rage series were some of the pioneering GPUs that brought 3D graphics to the mainstream. These GPUs introduced features like texture mapping, Z-buffering, and anti-aliasing, enhancing visual realism and performance.
The 2000s Boom The 2000s were a period of rapid innovation and growth for the GPU industry. NVIDIA's GeForce 256, released in 1999, is often credited as the world's first 'GPU' because it integrated transformation and lighting (T&L) on a single chip. This innovation paved the way for more complex and realistic graphics. Meanwhile, ATI continued to push the envelope with their Radeon series, which competed fiercely with NVIDIA's GeForce cards. GPUs were no longer just for gaming; they started to play a crucial role in professional graphics workstations, scientific simulations, and even financial modeling.
Modern GPUs Today, GPUs are at the heart of some of the most advanced technologies. NVIDIA's RTX series, featuring real-time ray tracing and AI-powered enhancements like DLSS, has set new standards for gaming and professional graphics. AMD's Radeon RX series also offers impressive performance, particularly with their RDNA architecture. Modern GPUs are not just about high frame rates in games; they're essential for tasks like deep learning, artificial intelligence, and cryptocurrency mining. Companies like NVIDIA, AMD, and even newcomers like Intel with their Arc series are continually pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
Real-World Examples Let's look at some real-world examples. In gaming, GPUs deliver ultra-realistic visuals and smooth gameplay. Titles like 'Cyberpunk 2077' and 'Call of Duty' showcase the incredible power of modern GPUs with features like ray tracing and advanced shading techniques. In professional fields, GPUs accelerate rendering in software like Blender and Adobe Premiere Pro, drastically reducing production times. For AI and deep learning, GPUs handle massive datasets and complex computations, powering innovations from self-driving cars to voice recognition systems.
Conclusion That's a comprehensive look at the history and evolution of GPUs! From their humble beginnings in the 1980s to their current role in driving advanced technologies, GPUs have truly revolutionized the tech industry. I am sorry I don't know the specific about it but I do know what's generally done for you put the binance wallet address in the receiving section and put your amount that's it and the seed phrase, but the phrase should be in order you were given the phrase in order from 1-12 so if it's not it might not go through and chances are you might loose your asset I think it would be wise to just search it up more thoroughly

    Don't buy anything, until pricing comes down to something reasonable. There's no reason for the top of the line card to cost more then 500 USD, and an average GPU should cost less then 150. Anything over that is nothing be greed. Do the math on Profit Margins and work the math out for yourself.

    • @mas_byte
      @mas_byte หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're right on one part but I would give a point to Nvidia prices should be low not to the point you're talking I mean yes profit margins are high but I think 5090 should not cost more than 800-950 USD but we will see what will Nvidia do.

    • @cybercapri
      @cybercapri หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mas_byte Not really, take into consideration that profit margins are high, and if you do the math, 50% profit margin on a 1,000 USD GPU is 500 USD, just profit. The other 500 USD is the actual cost plus reasonable profit, so in short it should only cost about 600 USD at the most, to be reasonable. Apple is worse, like 200% profit margin, their 1,000 USD Phones should only cost 150 to 200 USD at the most to be reasonable... Folks don't factor these prices in when they consider buying. Actual GPU costs have dropped considerably. There used to be several options, hence competition, but that's been destroyed for Monopiles as AMD, Intel and nVida are all Monopolies because each has no real competition. Sure you can think that AMD GPUs and nVidia GPUs are Competition but they are not, they are completely different; same goes for CPUs. Back in the day of Socket 7, it didn't matter what CPU you used, Intel, AMD, Cyrix, just didn't matter as they were all compatible. Today each CPU has it's own proprietary socket, ergo making it a Monopoly vs real Competition. There's a thin line that Monopolies like to blur to keep WE THE PEOPLE blinded to the fact that they make BILLIONS while we get screwed. Intel could make better improvements but it's always been 10% to 15% more for 60% more in cost; that's GREED, nothing more. Most times it's actually 5% increase for 150% cost. No CPU should cost more then 300 USD, at the most, NONE. But add 600 USD profit now you've got a 900 USD CPU. This is my point. Way back when CPUs were first made they had a ton of Gold but today, almost NO GOLD, short of the extremely thin layer for the pins. Older CPUs, larger is size and Gold use cost 40 to 75 USD, not smaller CPUs with far less Gold cost 1,000 or more? That's crazy. CPU wafer size has decreased drastically. There was a time when you only got 10 to 20 CPU or GPU chips from a single wafer and not they are getting 100, give or take. The wafer cost has not changed but the CPU/GPU cost has increased considerably... The Monopiles don't want you to know this...

    • @mas_byte
      @mas_byte หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're right on one thing and wrong on other aspects like yes apple is way worse but GPUs manufacturing costs are getting higher as you must have seen gddr6x ram shortage and yeah if you are running a business you shouldn't take more than around 30-40% profit of that of manufacturing cost that's why I said it should be around 800-950

    • @cybercapri
      @cybercapri หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mas_byte I get what you're saying, but you seemed to miss the part of what I'm saying about Monopiles. The increase in ram is by design because there's only one source and they can write whatever price they way. Ram is cheap compared to the CPU/GPU chips and there's zero reason for Gddr 6x to be so high; just as there's no reason for any PC part to be so high. If there were single socket MBs and we are free to choose our processor they would not be able to charge upwards of 1,000 USD on some boards and MBs would be way cheaper overall, as would the CPUs hence the reason AMD and Intel are propriety and not compatible. AMD has even gone so far as to switch from Pins to LGA and they can design each to fit on the same socket but there's no money in it if they do. Just because someone lists something for sale at a certain price does not mean it's worth that price. They used to list the actual cost of the CPU but they don't do that now because they can't justify the high price they charge. Research CPU/GPU chips and see for yourself just how much they should cost because what they are getting is akin to highway robbery and we are forced to pay.

    • @mas_byte
      @mas_byte หลายเดือนก่อน

      CPUs are one more time another story and no I am not defending those prices I am just saying for the high end as RTX 5090 were to launch at the price of around 850-950 then And will be sure to make a counter of that and hence making a competition that's why I suggested that price and if there is competition there is price drops that's why in the old days and and Nvidia on the low end section competed really well and released well priced GPUs
