HORI RAP 4 KAI FIGHTSTICK MOD - Custom Art Plexi Buttons Joystick
Modding the HORI RAP 4 ( Real Arcade Pro 4 ) Fight Stick.
Custom artwork and plexi mod for the RAP 4.
In this video I replace the stock artwork with a custom print and plexi. I also swap out the stock stick and buttons for Sanwa parts.
I'll be posting a blog on www.blu3.tv with a list of all parts used.

This is much appreciated! I'm getting one of these in a few days (my first full-size stick) and plan on doing artwork customization at the very least, so knowing what to do helps a lot.
Great video; getting a RAP4 in a bit and this helped me understand how it worked.
Subbed and liked! Thank you! Your tutorial was very simple and easy to follow!
Thank you for watching and glad to be of any help!
Wow..i'v seen alot of stick modding videos on youtube but this one is by far the most concise. Great job!!
Thanks for the kind words and for checking out the video! :D
BLU3TV Keep on keepin' on
I've been wondering how to do the custom art to this fightstick. Thanks for the video, I guess it's time to start planning :)
To make the actual artwork, you'll have to download the PSD template from the Tek-Innovations website and add in your graphics. You'll need Photoshop to edit the PSD file, theres a free trail available on the Adobe website. After you have that ready, you send it to Tek when you place your order. Thanks for checking out the video! :D
Okay, what if I don't want to order stuff from other side of the world and want to do it myself?
if i get the artwork from tek innovations will that be all i need or will i need to buy the plexi cover as well?
I would recommend getting both the artwork and plexi from Tek Innovations but you could just get the artwork. If you get the artwork only, you'd probably need to laminate it and use some type of adhesive to stick it to the metal plate; this would be a more permanent solution while the plexi makes it easier to swap the artwork. Thanks for checking out the video!
no prob thanks for the response and great vid!
Great video, quick and to the point and very well done. I feel very comfortable doing this now thanks!
Thanks for watching and I'm happy the video was helpful! :D
are there any plexis that cut the screw holes so that the screws will be low profile (flush) when installed? like the Madcatz and Qanba plexis?
When I was researching custom art / plexi, this is the only one I could find for the RAP 4.
I used a hair dryer to take off the sticker. Much easier, quicker and cleaner.
Someone else mentioned this as well, a hair dryer definitely would have made it easier!
should i buy 30 mm or 24 mm for the butons please ?
The 8 large buttons are 30mm and the 1 small button is 24mm. If you have any other questions, let me know!
BLU3TV thx man ! :)
So just out of curiosity. With the way you installed the washers for the plexi screws does the plexi protrude above the edges. I'm looking into getting some custom art for my hrap4 as well but I don't like how I've seen some other people's plexi protrude. Great vid!
The plexi does protrude a tiny amount but it's not because of the washers. The screw holes in the metal base plate are countersunk so the washers fit in and fill that area, they do not raise the plexi much at all. The small amount the plexi protrudes is due to it's thickness but it does not bother me and is not noticeable when using the fightstick. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other questions!
Does it matter which way you connect the pair of wires into each button? I can't imagine it would because it would complete the circuit regardless, but if the buttons have specific positive and negative terminals then it may cause problems. Do you know how it is? Nice video, btw. Very helpful guide.
The wires can go either way, works no problem. Thanks for watching!
Where did you get the foam lap rests? Thanks!
+William Forest This model / version came with the foam pads attached right out of the box. Thanks for watching, if you have any other questions feel free to ask! :)
+BLU3TV Any idea where I could buy something similar? Thanks!
very detailed guide on how to customize it tyvm :)
+onenonlyvieTz Thanks for watching!
i did this to my hori stick. to make life much easier get a blow dryer and make passes over the graphics on high settings for about five minutes. and then you can pick up one of the corners of the graphics with a razor and you can peel the whole graphic in one nice tug. Saved me a ton of time and didnt leave any glue behind.
+Edgar Marquez i have the same blue sanwa buttons on mine but i went with a clear blue ball top also
+Edgar Marquez That's a great idea! Thanks for the info, I think that would definitely help out some people planning to do this mod :)
Those quick connects on the buttons, will sanwa buttons fit right into those after taking out the stock KURO buttons?
+Iceman 2020 Yes, the standard Sanwa 30mm pushbuttons will fit right in, same size as the stock KURO buttons. Thanks for watching!
Probably the best tutorial on how to do this man! Very detailed and great camera quality! Just bought this stick getting it Friday mods soon to come also! Keep up the good work man you deserve more subs and views than you have right now with videos like this one!
+Killa Cam Thanks for watching and for the kind words! This really motivates me to make more videos! :D
I'm looking to get my art and acrylic from tek innovations as well, did that plexi cause any issues due to being thicker than the stock decal?
+WizardlyShoe4 No issues at all. It is only a tiny bit thicker than the original decal/plastic, not noticeable when playing.
+BLU3TV thanks so much dude, BTW this tutorial was awesome you explained everything very clearly.
+BLU3TV oh yeah I forgot to ask, did the bottom screw cause you any issues while playing? I'm afraid it's very close to one of the buttons and might be uncomfortable.
+WizardlyShoe4 The way I have my hands positioned, as I think most people would when playing, the screws are not in the way at all (even the bottom center screw, I never hit it when playing).
+WizardlyShoe4 That's awesome to hear! Thank you for watching and I'm glad you liked the video! :D
nice video man.
+Rafael Payano Thanks for watching! :D
