Ouu a plant I recommend you to look into adding to your collection is a cissus quadrangularis!! They’re super cool!!
I wish mine would get that big. I bought it as 2 rooted cuttings and it's slow getting thicker.
@@youngmoney6850 rooted cuttings take their time, are you feeding your plants any fertilizers?
I caught three praying mantis this summer. One Large Green Japanese Praying Mantis and Two Large Brown Japanese Praying Mantis. Did Not Know The sexes of them. I know how to tell but they didn't show the signs of being females. Well, Two of them lay egg sacks (One Brown and One Green). I Never kept them in the same enclosure. One of the egg sacks hatched yesterday 11-05-2024. They were in a nice screened in enclosure, but they were every where. I have done pretty good at wrangling most of them up and putting back in the enclosure, which has kept them in so far. The one that hatched is the green. If anyone wants some, I gotcha. LOL 🤣😂🤣
@@cdawgg21 😂 amazing !
I have a big and beautiful one too😊
Such a stunning plant🤩
Whats it called please
@@katieistiredagain7288 it’s an airplant !
I love your plant room😍😍😍
@@zoeyalexiou3800 thank you ! I still feel like it needs more plants 🤪

Nice to see a fellow slim plant mad person. What’s your number 1 house plant you own?
@@jimmychooquay ahh such a hard question to answer, it changes on a monthly basis 🤪 but honestly my variegated string of hearts has a special place in my soul, she is soooo gorgeous and I love how often it flowers for me
I need help! I went outside this morning to discover 2 fresh mantis cases by my back door. They are clearly not safe there. I have read to wait until the cases harden to remove, but what I need to know is if I want to watch one hatch in one of your nesting kits do I need to store the cases in the fridge until spring or what do you advise????
@@fallbeauty3222 I’ve never tried rehousing or moving wild mantis egg cases, so hard for me to say. Maybe wait til it’s colder to move it.
Thank you for showing your amazing place and very inspiring 🪴
LOVE the video. I am in the San Francisco Bay area, closer to the central valley than the coast. I have been finding praying mantis every year for the last 5 years or so. They really like my oregano. Last week, I found an ootheca attached to a stem on my Mexican Bird of Paradise. I believe mine are North American mantis and not the Chinese, based on looks (internet photos). I would LOVE to watch them hatch! If I remove the twig that it is attached to the plant to bring indoors, should I keep it in the fridge and remove from the fridge in February or March? Would this keep it safer than leaving it outside through the winter? The fridge will have a drying affect, so misting it every few days? weekly? Our winters get below freezing a few days, but this is normally for 3-4 hours, say from 3 a.m. until 7 or so. But sometime our winters are harsher, dryer, wetter, etc. If leaving where it is, is there particular weather changes that may prompt my concern for its safety? I thank you so much for your time and your enthusiasm for praying mantis.
Wow this is such a cool idea ! My first response would be to leave the wild mantis egg where it is and keep an eye on it as it will be less likely for the egg to be damaged in any way if just left alone. You can mark the twig with a ribbon or something so that you can remember where it is, or just keep it outside for the winter. I can’t say for sure if putting it in your fridge for the winter won’t kill the egg, in theory I would think it could work but your mantids have adapted to survive a Californian winter which might not be as cold as your fridge. In the spring you could collect the egg and hatch it in a viewing container as an idea !
Your house, grounds, plants....GORGEOUS!!! I really enjoyed your video!! Thanks for sharing!!😁

my co worker has a praying mantis and she left an egg sack for him so he’s giving it to me ! once it hatches is it okay to put them in the garden even if its getting really cold outside ? very excited to see them hatch but im nervous about them surviving outside during the winter 😢
just got to the part about them NOT surviving the winter 😅 oops ! what should i do if they do hatch before spring ? i cant keep up to hundreds of mantids but i dont want them to die outside 😅😅

any specific setup or conditions needed to dry?
@@rhctb drying should be done once your insect is in the position you want, then just let air dry for a few days somewhere safe and out of direct sunlight. Hope that helps!

Love your solarium! Love your plants and ahhh that sink! What a home! I didn't know that about the String of Hearts! Bring on the blooms! So sorry about your pup... I too lost my special angel last year to cancer. We did get another Shiba Inu puppy who will soon be a year. Love him!
