I want to shout out the idol collectibles from Kid Icarus Uprising which is by the way developed by Masahiro Sakurai master of smash bros and the best figure galleries. This game is honestly one of the best Nintendo games ever please play it but more importantly, has 412 collectible figures you can view in a gallery. It's closer to a living gallery like the Pokedex and all the models are animated although the models are quite dynamic, unlike the dull idle Pokemon animations. There's quite a mix of figures not only every character and item complete with descriptions but also large dioramas of important locations (insanely cool locations mind you) and a lot of them look drop dead gorgeous. You would really like them. I highly recommend it.

I had the exact same feeling when you can turn a virtual globe, like the stage selector in Starfox Adventures you can see a miniature diagram of the levels. Sonic CD has the D.A garden, it’s just a sprite but seeing all the levels existing in a connected world caught my attention. Other examples like the ones you talked but in 2d are the level thumbnails, a visual summary about what we’ll find. Like the paintings in SM64, the worlds in PVZ2,the courses in every Mario kart, the stage selector in sonic generations ETC. over all, nice editing!! I think everyone does the same thing that’s why devs add this content, just for fun

Oh! Another game that has this is Mario Party 8! It’s been AGES since I played last, as in well over a decade, so my memory is a bit fuzzy. But I remember that you can purchase little floats for a miniature parade-it serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever, it’s just something to use the points you win in-game on. Still, I loved how quirky and delightful it was.

Some of the levels from Super Mario 64 also scratch at that 'explore a diorama' itch, as a good chunk of them feel like little snippets of disconnected worlds. Some are a bit better at selling the illusion of being part of something bigger, like JRB or Snowmans Land, but others like Wet Dry world feel so much like a little art piece that you can play as a level.

SSB Melee Trophy theme got me into Video game music alone. And then going in to the collection and seeing all these brightly colored characters and learning about it their history really inspired me to try out the entire Nintendo library and collect Nintendo games as a whole. When Brawl came out I was overwhelmed lol. Still tried to collect as much as I could

This showed up on my feed like 5 days after I unlocked everything in the rainbow curse. I really liked the figurines there too especially the one you unlock as the 100% reward

one of my favourite in-game statue collections is mario party DS's gallery. while the figures are all quite simplistic the game covers essentially every character and notable object and gives them all descriptions, as well as a short animation for character figures if you interact with them. there is a slew of trophies and features you can earn for the gallery by completing tasks within boards and beating bosses multiple times which is a fun way of celebrating your play time

Just one thing to point out, you are able to view models of the actual demons in doom eternal as you collect the figurines. Red toad

I didn't really get it, but yeah, it IS interesting! Personally still like physical figures more, but it's ALWAYS fun to get insight into someone's weird niche interest, the passion is contagious 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

Im surprised Kid Icarus Uprising wasnt mentioned in this video, its got a model collection of nearly every single thing the game, from enemies to weapons.

The "Kingdom Hearts" series has in-game dioramas of the worlds that you visit and you can also view the character models in the Jiminy's Journal sections (albeit mainly in "Kingdom Hearts" 1,2 and 3). And while not as graphically detailed as most of the models and dioramas shown in this video, "Ape Escape" on the PS1 also has in-game mini dioramas of the levels that you visit to catch these naughty helmet wearing monkeys.

I'm not someone who particularly hops on trends very often, but I honestly love an iceberg video, as long as they're not clogged up with joke entries at the bottom. It's such a succint but creative way of explaining things and I always seem to learn something even if it's about a topic I know quite well. This is a great video too, I utterly adore this channel.

My fave trophy gallery was from Kid Icarus Uprising personally. Granted my 3ds has been broken for over half a decade now or I'd still be playing it now and then

So glad I stumbled uppon this video. I had basically the exact same feeling when seeing the Dioramas in DKC Returns for the first time. They were just so captivating and I have been thinking about them a lot over the years. Also great use of Aphex in the Intro (in general terrific music choice)
