Brilliant water my local water excellent for fishing
Always forget about Millhall cracking place
🎣🎣🎣🎣👌
Fished Bangour quite a few times but since watching your video I’m going to give Drumtassie a visit for sure. Bangour does close for a few months during winter & summer which is a bit odd. Tight lines. Derick.
Great to hear Derick, it’s a brilliant water. I haven’t fished bangour in years, how is it now?
Hi. It fishes well when it’s open, well stocked & great facilities. I don’t have Facebook so it’s difficult to see prices. I usually fish 4 or 6 hours on a catch & kill ticket so I guess I’ll give them a call to find out. Once again great videos & I’ll look out for your next fishing trip. Tight lines. Derick.
I fish Drumtassie a couple of times a week. You won't be disappointed.
Float fishing
@@ewenwalker7740 strike indicators are a type of float yeah! I love the visual aspect of them during winter when all of the top of the water sport is gone
So's the dry fly, really. Especially with droppers.
Millhall is class
@@cameronstevenson5894 it really is a top small water, cracking fish in it right now too!
Callum the bung 😂
@@arthurwilkie6374 I’ll stop when it stops working! 😂
Hi Callum I was out walking with the dog that day, every time I looked over you were into a fish. I have a cracking photo of the dog sitting watching you 😂
Hi Grant, that’s amazing aha! I would love to see that photo, that sounds like a cracker!
For some reason I can’t send it on here
@@Grantmcgowan-x5j no problem that’s for trying Grant!
You need a cameraman, Calum. And someone to bring your glasses!
@@davidstephen2253 you’re quite right! The glasses were left in car rather than at home this time, next time they might be on my eyes!
Fished here a few times, great setting, and both waters really well stocked
@@stuartmcmillan2518 completely agree Stuart, great fun and has a nice bit of character to the water
@ spoiled for choice in central Scotland wellsfield, burnhouse, orchill…
@@stuartmcmillan2518you’re totally right Stuart! I’ll hopefully get a few videos up from each of the fisheries around central Scotland.
Jammie
so you are float fishing for them ??? #thatsnotflyfishing
Strike indicator is a type of float yeah, just like the traditional strike indicator you would use for nymphing for trout on a river but slightly larger - great fun!
@@viceflies7485 but you aint nymphing.. you are using artificials tied to look like worms... under a bung on still water...that aint flyfishing.
@@Thecatchalot love it or hate it catching stockies is undoubtedly fun!
@@viceflies7485 prefer catching fish that are a bit more of a challenge n weren't stocked in the puddle the day before.
Where is this??
Drumtassie Trout Fishery not far from Blackridge, it’s cracking mate!
Brilliant mate. That you back doing a bit of TH-cam 👍
@@Steviemac05 thanks Stevie! Back fishing and popping videos up here regularly!
Brilliant wee video 😊
@@stevenlowrie6149 thanks Steven, much appreciated!
Nice take
Mate you should try Wellsfield fishery in Denny I think you will be surprised
Cheers for the heads up George Ive never tried Wellsfield I’ll give it a bash and put it up on the channel!
Fishing bungs , how sad ! 😢
For every session I fish the bung, i counteract it with wet flies the next time... The bung is just too much fun!
And your casting needs a little work 🤣🎣
@ that sounds like a casting challenge at loch earn
@@viceflies7485I go fishing to catch fish and if that’s what method is working then that’s what il go with pure and simple. The bung has its advantages at times fishing at the depths the fish are feeding. All the very best 👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴
Whowill cast for you ?????😅😅😅
Thanks bro brilliant fishing with u thanks for the flys aha
Well in bryan should have been there with you!
No problem bro, nice meeting you and tight lines 🎣
@ thanks
What other fishery’s do you fish mate I’m also new to fly fishing be good to go fishing with you someday
Great video, Calum and a lovely looking water. Always good to see a master at work, but..., where are the glasses?
@@davidstephen2253 thanks dad! You’re the reason my ego is so big! And you’re quite right, get the glasses on people
Some nice fish!
@@StudioGhibliYT thank you!
Did not know you were so into vice 😂
Just tied my first fly thanks to this! Body is a bit rough as the only tool I have is the vice + scissors, but I reckon it will catch. This is probably my favourite pattern for stillwaters anytime fish are rising.
This is great to hear! I hope you’ve caught and tied many more!
Hi i am a new tyer and this video really helped me understand more .Thank you so much.
Nicely explained. I’ve been tying for years but am always looking to learn from anyone willing to share their skills. Cheers
Can you do a video on the water, show us some of these patterns in action?
You’re just looking for a trip out with Calum!!!! Good strategy! Will you be filming?
Of course! Great idea and thanks for the comment!
What's up pal. I left a comment. And now it's gone. Wtf . Wtf. What's the point of leaving a comment.
Thanks Malcolm!
Will tie a couple of these.
Good effort mate.
Thanks Mike appreciate it!
How do you adjust the apex vice for left hand tying
Just ordered the anvil apex for £99
can you wear a BLUE TSHIRT in future videos?
Very nice my old friend
Hi I like your break down of your tutorials maybe if you use wax more it will help a lot for locking materials down . But great videos
Hi what size hook is best for this lure ? Great video Thank you Stephen
Hi Stephen, I would recommend using a B175 size 10 for this, you can go slightly smaller or bigger but a 10 is usually perfect!
Just discovered your channel and in glad I did.I am feqrly new to fly fishing and started 2 years ago(and fly tying) but these beginner videos are still really helpfull for me.Thank you for making these videos l.Keep them coming.
Thanks for the comment Rhys, this is great to hear! Let us know if there is anything specific you want to see, would be more than happy to help!
@@viceflies7485 no problem.Could you do a video on fly tying some more buzzer patterns?
@@rhyspercey3880 Not a problem at all, will do some spring and early summer buzzer patterns for you!
Good review 👍 I just got the Apex myself it was going free to a good home from my uncle .
Thanks for the comment! I hope you enjoy using Apex as a brand, keep us updated with how you get on with it.
Got the Apex Anvil too. Such good value for money. I used to have the Dyna King supreme and wish I didn’t sell it. That was superb.
Thanks for the comment Darren. Dyna King are extremely good and very hard to get a hold of at the moment with their boom in popularity over lockdown!
Looking forward to the next video
How about a couple of Oliver Edwards' traditional river patterns. The always look good.
Nice combination of colours.
Good review. I have the Apex Anvil too. I find to be okay. I picked up a new Dan vise on eBay and find it great for the money.
Thanks Danny! Ebay is a great place to find bargains not only on vices but a huge array of fly-tying materials, thanks for sharing!
Proud of you Stee
I’m enjoying seeing how your tying has improved over the years Ron H
Thanks Ron! I learned from the best! Hope you're doing well
Guess what I’m still tying yes paraloops
Nice tying instructions
Thanks very much glad to see you're enjoying the videos!
Black sharpie pen easier than black thread and extra bobbin 😉
You tie a nice flee mate . Pity you didn't give it a chance for your page to grow .
Thank you Stephen! Will be doing more videos soon
Can you tie a large dark olive without hackle please
Of course! Thanks for the suggestion I will upload this one soon
