My First 200 km Ride: Challenges & Insights 🇦🇱
Covering long distances in Montenegro is challenging due to the constant mountains and climbs. So, I became curious: could I complete 200 kilometers on flatter terrain? Previously, my longest ride was 112 kilometers. One autumn day, I decided to take on the challenge, right after installing a new saddle. Was it the right choice, and did I make it to the end without issues? Find out in this video!

On the sixth and final day of the journey, we face a long descent. Almost the entire 95 kilometers is downhill. We will follow the highway down to Nikšić, ride through its streets, and then head toward the 19th-century Carev Bridge. After a short climb from the bridge, we will continue descending into the Zeta River valley. Following the river, we’ll ride through Danilovgrad and eventually reac...

On the fifth day of the journey, I’ll continue traversing through Durmitor and descend toward Piva Lake, reaching the town of Plužine. From there, I'll take the highway to cover as much distance as possible towards Nikšić. The route is full of challenging climbs, with gradients reaching up to 12%. On the fourth day of the journey, the route took us along the Tara River Canyon towards the Đurđevića Tara Bridge. From there, we faced a 12-kilometer climb up to the Durmitor National Park plateau. We then deviated from the main road, venturing through the lakes on the outskirts of the park. The day concluded in a scenic campground within the park. Did everything go smoothly? How did the Merid...

The second day's route takes us along a winding road through Komovi Nature Park. It's a breathtaking but challenging ride, even for the Merida eSilex 600. I stop for lunch at the pass before quickly descending. Later, I find a motel along the highway a little further north, where I discover a fantastic seafood restaurant nearby. 🤝 Support the channel and access additional content: ☕️ buymeacoff...

Thanks, will do!

Another waste of money, anybody who rides bikes ain't buying this ever
Are they sold separately? Who’s actually buying this?
@beyondthebikeroads lo 🤣 It's your vid I was hoping you might know. And it's not usually the spoke you gotta worry. Derailer broke mid stride ended in a nutcracker a flip destroyed bike and a fracture arm still didn't stop me from riding😁
This thing comes pre-installed on the bike. Sure, I’ve been known to buy all sorts of random junk, but I seriously doubt I’d ever choose to buy something like this on purpose.
Danke für deine echten Fahreindrücke. Wünsche dir weiterhin gute Fahrt🎉
Thanks. Much appreciated.
Well done, nice trip. 👍
Thanks! 👍
Congratulations! Good ride.
Thanks!
Shimano SH-SD501 SPD Sandal - you're welcome...
It's so bad now they will cut the pole
Ring lock chains are useless, someone who breaks into the lock itself, gets a two in one, so the ring lock snaps open and the chain comes off at the same time, I'm a Dutch bike mechanic and those are common here, and it is known to the insurances.
A lock is only useless if you can remove it with your bare hands. If you need any kind of tool to break it, that already creates an obstacle. Personally, I like this option because it locks quickly, which is convenient when leaving my bike for a short time-like 15 minutes. That said, I don’t trust any lock enough to leave my bike on the street overnight, regardless of the country.
Thanks very much for sharing and for adding your personal reflections! Next time you could try and take your wife with you :) On a side question, I am thinking of buying the new DJI Action 5 for filming my bike rides - would you recommend it? I think you are using DJI too for filming
Thank you very much! I definitely recommend Action 5 camera. It is the best classic action camera. Especially in the adventure kit. With extra batteries. It can also to be connected a microphone DJI Mic 2. Unfortunately, I have a GoPro 10 for now. I also have a DJI Osmo 2. It used in some reviews.
Bravo,odlična avantura,odgledao sam sve sa uživanjem.🚴💪
What if auto shutter speed with ND filters?
Yes, then it works. But its important not to overdark. Stabilization does not work in low light.
@@beyondthebikeroads thanks. I want to get the real life motion blur without sacrificing the stabilization in mountain biking. Here's what I'm thinking, set the recording in 4K*24fps, auto shutter speed and locked EV. Will it work or not? As for now I don't have the time to test it yet.
@@phil5073 Yes, it will work.
Wait wut? Hero10 max stabilization will not work if shutter speed is set to 1/50 (1/48 in my case), right?
Yes. To me. I tried it with an ND filter, but it just didn’t work for me. So I decided to stick with auto exposure and no filters. Though, I admit, sometimes an ND filter could be useful!
Beautiful scenery! Many thanks.
I think it needs to go other way bit facing downwards but facing upwards and resitng the lock on the frame.
The original mount is much better. Much more reliable. I installed it.
Breathtaking views. As always. Super.
Dobra avantura,dobri snimci
Or... You just use the gyroscope data to apply stabilization afterwards... Problem solved.
What percentage of motor power are you using in each assist level? I have mine set up for 30% at Level 1, 50% Level 2 and 75% at Level 3. If you want to read more go here cycleitalia.blogspot.com/2024/07/mahle-x35-diary.html
Lovely travels! But how do you feel riding on national roads? With trucks and cars going 3x times your speed I am not sure if it’s very safe…
My choice of route depends on distance, elevation, and time. Often, the best option is the highway. And honestly, there aren't many other options here. Drivers in Montenegro usually pass at a safe distance, but there are exceptions, which can be unnerving. The key is to stay visible and avoid sudden movements.
Just got myself a Merida esilex 400. I have no clue how to start it up. Nothing happends when i press the button to start. But it lights up when i connect the charger. It shines white, as if its ready......but again. Nothing happends :( Is it something im missing?
That is, when the charging is off, there is no reaction to pressing the button? And when charging, the button glows white. Right? Try installing the app on your phone when the bike is charging. And connect to the bike. See what the app says.
Exactly. And once im in the app, i have tried everything. And as soon i disconnect the charger, the app says im disconnected
This seems odd. It's best to have it fixed under warranty. Otherwise, you can download the wiring diagram from the Mahle website and check the connections yourself. Still, it's advisable to go through the official service for proper support.
@@beyondthebikeroadsyea i guess i will have take it to them so they can have a proper look at it. Sad to start a ownership like this tho. I was hoping to be out on the roads by now :)
You will! Thanks God you have a dealer nearby. The closest dealer to me is 700 km far. If I have had same problem I would been broken at all.
It's Biogradska gora*
Indeed. Thanks. My thoughts was in Beograd.
Which filter best for GoPro TELESIN ND , NEEWER ND?
In this video is Telesin. I'm not sure, but I think Neewer it's better. According the brand.
@@beyondthebikeroads Okay. But I'm confused which nd filter buy for my GoPro 12
They will interrupt your legs
On a hybrid bike it doesn't. But on a gravel bike, yes, you're right, it does interfere.
Hi! Please tell the name of your glasses
Hi! With pleasure. This model is newer. But very similar. www.demonsunglasses.com/products/sports-prescription-glasses-with-photochromic-mirrored-lens-gravel-model?variant=41952909361240
Is it posible to change the tires to 29x2.0 inch from the kenda 45-622 (700x45) for riding more trails?
The tires definitely need replacing. The Kenda Booster are terrible-no puncture protection at all, with flat after flat. I think 47mm tires would fit, but anything wider likely won’t.
Montenegrian people are not the tallest in Europe, it's the dutch, especially from Frisia region.
Thanks, I didn't know that. Are there urinals at stomach level too?
@@beyondthebikeroads they are usually on ground level, like all the way on the bottom of the floor
Netherlands average height 183.78 Montenegro average height 183.3 Pretty close!

I didn't go down to the lake itself. I stayed on the road.
Is rear light with 80lm good enough for night ride?
Sure. It's visible from 100 meters for sure.
Hi! The pedals look great and the review outcome's positive... anyway I've seen many pics of eh500 pedals being very rusty in 2nd hand marketplaces... did you experience the same? Thanks anyone is spending a few seconds to reply 🙂
Hi! No, there's no rust on them. But I rarely ride in the rain. The climate here is very dry and hot.
@@beyondthebikeroads Thank you!!!
@@francescoperani532 I'm from the UK and ride in all weather my eh500 pedals are fine I just give them a spray with bike protection spray when I wash the bike no rust as of yet.
🥶
Is it safe for carbon frame? or is it dedicated for alluminium alloy? :)
I haven't tried it on carbon myself, but the manufacturer says it’s possible. Just be sure not to overload it beyond the manual's recommendations, and carefully follow the fastening torque guidelines (4 Nm)
Great vid and fantastic scenery as always. Hope the downhill ride was as enjoyable as the ride up. What sort of activities do they do at the Kapetanovo Lake?
Thank you! The descent is exhilarating, but the road demands constant focus, so I can't let go of the brakes or wave the camera around. Almost all the houses around the lake are available for rent. People come here for hiking, off-road driving, motorbiking, and cycling-though that day, I was the only one crazy on the bike.
Dobar video,svidja mi se
Much appreciated.
Amazing views as always! You have a beautiful country! Out of curiosity, how many km you have on the bike already and what is the battery maximum capacity in %, after your several charge cycles
Much appreciated. I’ve rode a little over 2,000 km so far. Unfortunately, I can't provide specific details about battery health since the app doesn’t track that information. However, I haven’t noticed any decrease in battery capacity.
Nice video! Fantastic route and views! Really want to go this route one day.
Thanks a lot. Don't shelve your wishes.
Thank you for sharing your journey. I've just bought the same bike as you and quite excited to ride it once it arrives. Do you have any tips for me?
Congratulations. Nothing special. Check the gear settings after purchase. Once a year, regular service. Take care of the battery according to the manual. And have a lot of fun.
Anyone know the correct procedure to remove merida silex e 600 battery?
I suppose in this video th-cam.com/video/aGVipGZfvsA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=N8KiYwUtxvEp6Iex
Trash chinese merida.
Excellent. What similar options would you recommend?
Yamaha Wabash RT 70nm
I checked the specifications, and yes, it's a solid bike at a reasonable price. The only downside is the weight-21 kg. I have to carry the bike up to my home, which makes that a bit challenging. Unfortunately, there are no Yamaha dealers in my area. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll keep it in mind.
I've just started using these on my gravel bike and I really like them. Clipped in for serious rides and my flat pedal shoes or trainers for picking the kids up or just riding around with them. Genius!
I have this rack installed on my gravel bike and opted to get two 20L Sea To Summit bags which were roomier and on sale. Recently went on RAGBRAI with it and I got several compliments on my setup. Several riders were curious since they've never seen or heard of this rack before and even took pictures of it. Yes, it's expensive than the traditional rack but well worth the money.
Hey, can you share please link to the app? Thank you for review. Greatings from Slovenija.
Thanks for feedback. mahle-smartbike.com/digital-ecosystem/ I give a link to a page where at the bottom you will find links to the apps in Google or Apple stores.
I dont know if its the angle but your clipped foot looks like sweeping the floor which is an indicator of seat being too high. I would lower it by 5mm and see if that still occours.
I didn't know about that. Thanks. I'll try.
