How To Clean Snow & Ice Off Your Climbing Skins When Ski Touring
Learn 3 ways to solve the common ski touring problem of climbing skins no longer sticking. Rene-Martin shares his best 3 tips to get your skins sticking to your skis. To avoid having problems with your skin glue, you should always address each issue as it arises.
When snow gets wedged between your ski and climbing skin, that's when problems begin and you risk not having a good time if you don't correct the problem immediately. Make sure your climbing skin is properly installed on your ski before you drop it on the snow. Your clips should have the right tension. The skin must be properly aligned on the ski. Noce you're climbing, check your tail hook every now and then. Check you ski partner's hooks too. They'll thank you for it.

3 WAYS TO CLEAN SNOW OFF YOUR CLIMBING SKINS
OPTION 1
Rub the climbing skin on your pants in a sliding motion. If the glue wont stick and is iced up, rub the glue side down on your pants. If the skin is iced up, rub the fuzzy side down on your pants.
OPTION 2
Rub the climbing skin on your ski edge. ou can use your ski's edge as a light scraper by gliding the skin perpendicularly to the ski. This is really good for removing ice.
OPTION 3
Fold the climbing skins and put them inside your jacket, close to your core. Then, get active. Boot pack part of the way to increase your body heat. The heat you'll produce will soften the glue and make more tacky. Tacky enough to stick to ski again.
