xESC 2040 Open Source Brushless (BLDC) Motor Controller Update for OpenMower with Soldering Tutorial
Thank you to PCBWay.com for supporting my work on the OpenMower by sponsoring this video!
You can get your own PCBs starting at $5 per 10 PCBs here: www.pcbway.com/setinvite.aspx?inviteid=558112
In this video I'm showing my progress on the xESC2040 open source brushless motor controller which was designed to be used with the OpenMower open source robot lawn mower project. I also decided to show my manual soldering process once, since many of you asked. There are a lot of great SMD soldering tutorials on TH-cam, so it's a good idea to check out some other videos as well.
I hope that you like the video! Thank you to all my Patreons and for all the support I'm getting.
Also a special thank you to perryc on my Discord for helping me with the motor controller design shown in this video!

OpenMower: Robot Hardware | YardForce Classic 500 Teardown, Mainboard Replacement, Firmware Install
มุมมอง 139K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I'm showing how I replaced the electronics in my YardForce Classic 500 robotic mower. The first step is to disassemble the mower. Then I configured the hardware and installed Ubuntu on my Raspberry Pi. Finally I installed my custom electronics in the original enclosure. I hope that you like the video! Thank you to all my Patreons and for all the support I'm getting. Since many of ...
OpenMower - The affordable Open Source DIY Smart GPS Robotic Mower
มุมมอง 586K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The Open Mower project allows you to build your own smart lawn mower robot using the Raspberry Pi and an Arduino. The robot is able to localize itself using very precise RTK GPS. As base for this project, an off-the-shelf robot mower is used. The electric components and the software are published as an open source project. This robot lawn mower is able to record a map of your lawn and mow it au...
Fast and Robust Lane Detection using OpenCV
มุมมอง 108K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Using a self-made real time lane detection algorithm, we are able to do fast lane tracking and following. Even if the track is lost for some reason, the car will find it's way back. The algorithm is written using OpenCV and runs with 30fps on a Intel Atom processor. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!

Cool project. One problem I see though: If it always mows in the same pattern, it will start to make tracks into the yard. Have you thought about some sort of randomization to prevent this?

This is the least thing someone wants to diy. The time for building,. programming, configuration. Then the risk of legal things etc because it's diy. Omg. If you have no life go for it. But if you just want the lawn mowed. Get a working, reliable and safe robot.

already better than helpers in farming simulator 19 (or previous versions) lol.. but yeah the top view made me realize (similar to other comments) that the task is essentially the same as a 3D printer, maybe with uneven terrain, i wonder if there are some solutions that can help with the slight wonkyness ^^"

I'd like one that has 'music mode', which enables it to follow me around the garden playing tunes from an integrated speaker. A cooler box trailer might be useful too.

If Yardforce were smart, they would embrace open source by making an OpenMower line of their Classic 500 that is preconfigured with everything in the video.

This is awesome and I would love to build one but unfortunately the only compatible mower that will work with Openmower is the one featured, the Yard Force Classic 500 which you cannot seem to buy in the united states for some reason. Even so, thank you for all your work on this.

fantastic work! i got a luba during there kickstarter last year. its basically the same. although i believe they took the software from open mower. because everytime you suggest any fixes or updates they cant help. ultimately i would like to switch it over to open source mower. it looked like they have ras pi inside, and they use rtk system. do you think we could flash open mower software on it?

This is brilliant. I'm looking at a similar project. I need to build an unmanned gritting machine. Obviously it's.goingnto need to carry significantly more weight due to the grit salt and batteries. But I was worried about developing the software. Would it be possible to have the system triggered by temperature? So if the team drops to say -1c it starts the cycle?

I have seen a need for a larger scale mowing machine such as 6 meter wide to use maintaining open areas at airports, pipeline right of way and power transmission right of way. Such mower would be wide and not tall but stable on steep slopes. It could use spiked wheels such as those used by the Swiss. Any interest from you young tech minded people?

This looks like a "bang bang" ESC. I'd love to see someone spin up a vector-sinewave ESC (requires very high speed switching 1MHz+) with a balancing reconstruction filter at the output. Like what they do for high efficiency large format VFDs, or Trinamic stepper drivers.
