I'd like to take a moment to appreciate David Lynch, who passed a few days ago. He was one of the most major inspirations for me on this film. At the time I wrote it in 10th grade, I had just begun to delve into his work as an artist and I don't think this project would exist without him. His use of dream logic, non-linear story lines, and unconventional plots had a huge influence on me and gave me the confidence to make art like this-- a piece that is extremely personal to me, and yet may have a different meaning for everyone. He taught me that as long as it was important to me and came from the heart, it was worth making, even if I didn't necessarily know what it meant (which, at the time of writing it, I didn't. It grew clearer and clearer to me in the 3 or so years between writing and shooting). Rest in peace Mr. Lynch, a truly original artist.
